I was stuck at 5 FPS, until I turned down the Shader quality. After that it stayed at 15 FPS. Irregardless of any other settings. Controling the avatar was god awful. If I clicked somewhere in the floor the character would walk somewhere close by but then path back and forth like he had lost the marker.
Laptop Acer Aspire 5515 ATI Radion x1200, could not run the game at all. Shader 3 apparently, which irks me a bit as the laptop is only a couple of years old. |

Running four clients things get choppy, disabling CQ fixed that. That's the only reason I have for disabling it. I was running it fine on sisi and I'm running it fine on TQ. No heating issues, my tower is running cooler than ever actually. I'm not saying I'm running bug-free but I'm not experiencing the horrors others are reporting.

Edited by: Syn Fatelyng on 22/06/2011 11:30:39 Originally by: Pirat0r My problem is, however, that my southbridge on my motherboard overheats and I've got no way of cooling it down. Where I was able to play Eve Online for hours at a time before Incarna, I'm now only able to play for about 10 minutes on dual screens.
This seems to be quite common, for the group of people who are having technical issues with CQ. Attention people with heat issuesI want to note that what CQ is doing right now is no different than playing any other high-quality 3d game. Because they are now making full use of your CPU and GPU, you're beginning to see the weak points in your computer. Much like filling a barrel full of water and noticing a leak. Don't blame the water; find a way to patch up the leak. In this case, how often do you clean your CPU and GPU and is it possible to have more fine-tuned control over the fanspeed for both? Also, proper airflow through the entire case will reduce temperatures on your southbridge, and any other components (cpu, gpu, drives, pci cards). Might want to see how obstructed your fans are from messy cabling on the inside. |

Eve runs on my 3 PCs at home, 1 better then the other 2 so I have to check the settings. But Eve will no longer on my laptop which is what I'm on now.
Intel Dual Core T2260 1.73GHz RAM: 2GB Win 7 32 bit Video: Inter 945 Express Chipset
When I try to open the client I get a black screen. When I close it I see a message that my video card can't run the new shader and is outdated.
There was a time when I could run 4 clients on it with no problems. Then things changed and the client seemed to become more resource heavy and I started having more crashes and had to run the clients on the lowest settings. Then this new expansion made things worse. Clients constantly crashing and I could only run 2 clients with minimal problems. Now I can' run the client at all because my card can't use the shaders. This thing is years old now anyway. I guess it's about time for a new laptop anyway. |

It is rather high compared to what Eve used to cause, but still not enough make my cooling system run at audible levels. I am still not using it, light and camera are still atrocious, I still want the old hangar as an option, my breast still look like rubber balls, and my ship is still following me when I leave the balcony. Everything runs fine with FPS 60 in space and doesn't drop below 39 in station in station @ 1900 x 1200 (think thats the res at work now).
The only thing is when in CQ temps rise on CPU from 50 - 67degrees and temps on GPU's used to be at 50 now 65 with Fan speed increasing from 40-50% to nearly 80%..
The noise is the only downside for me when playing Crysis or something I don't mind as the noise is masked by sound but when playing EVE I really notice it. I am not complaining though the game looks fantastic and I can always upgrade to a 580 when I got some cash I think these are supposed to run quieter than the 460's at load.

CQ is running pretty good with high graphics. EVE is somehow prettier now, running fine.
72C is a dangerous Temp for a CPU. Sorry for this in the OPs thread but I seriously suggest tending to your CPU cooling system or have it serviced before possible failure.
Remember that many components of a motherboard such as the MOSFETs are cooled by the exhaust air from the CPU. Therefore if it is clogged you risk damaging things such as the MOSFETS and northbridge.
72C is not a problem. And it will throttle if temps gets too high. Alot of people simply dont understand the difference between Tcase and Tjunction. Tcase is the external CPU package temperature. Tjunction is the ondie sensors. (DTS). You cant measure Tcase unless you put a sensor between your CPU and heatsink. And thats far from easy and nobody got that as home users. Originally by: Syndeq

You do realize max temp per intel on this CPU is 72.4C? That number looked high for that series of CPU so I had to look it up. Running it for long periods at that temp is going to kill it.
Again, you found a Tcase number and now try to compare it to a Tjunction one. Also as a note, CPUs dont have their lifespan reduced much or any by heat. They have their lifespan reduced due to voltage mainly. Overvoltage is the biggest single most damaging thing. All due to electron migration and material degrading. Heat only cause temporary stability issues mainly. Voltage, frequency(current) permanently damages. |

Hi Vycra, just out of interest as I have similar setup and results are you using stock cooling solution on the 460's? I have the MSI's which are silent most of the time but at 65 degrees my fans are running at 70 - 80 % which is really quite loud for me. |

Well, it's not FLUID, but it's not unplayable either. There's a BIT of stutter, but that's it.
Also, the fans don't work harder as usual. Unlike in Duke Nukem Forever, which i can run perfectly fluid, at perfect settings with AA turned on, but then the fans start screaming.
So ... whatever problems ppl have, my machine really is far from optimal, but it works great for CQ.
I won't give FPS, because there's no point in doing it unless we have a standardized point in the CQ where everybody measures his FPS.
It's not fluid, but as it's only in CQ, that doesn't matter. |

I have the external exhaust EVGA ones inside a Silverstone FT02 case. I have a manual fan profile were the fan speed matches the temp. So 50 degrees is 50% and 75degrees is 75% etc. Try install MSI afterburner and make a profile and see how it goes. |

First constructive and useful thread in last 36 hours.
I have a laptop:
HP Compaq 6820s ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 graphic card 3 GB ram Intel Pentium Dual CPU at 2 gHz
I played Eve until now on medium settings and low shader without problems. But when I enter the CQ, I have only 2 fps on low settings! Is that normal? It's impossible to run CQ, so I had to turn it off.
I'd like to hear if there is anyone who can run CQ on the same laptop. But I think it should work on low settings - and I think the CCP has to fix that problem asap. Buying a new computer in not the solution. |

The in/out gates for the air are not blocked and its clean (i.e. no large amount of dust or clogged heat sinks) Under any other conditions this machine has never exceded 50c for the CPU and 60c for the GPU, and that was with an outside temperature of 30c. Until now. I have tried several solutions (like letting the CPU run the Nvidia physX engine, instead of the GPU) but to no avail. Oh well, CQ can be disabled. For now.....
