I don't have a gripe about prices... but once purchased, you can't just rightclick and "equip" the item, you have to go into re customization and add it in there, and then rephotograph your character.

So yeah, make it easier to put clothes on!

I will never turn a plex into aurum and I'll never destroy Vanity Items as it just helps CCP destroy more plex and increases the demand for more AURUM magiked items from thin air.

I entertained the idea of buying something cheap and cool with isk but I've not seen anything cool only mildly decent and I must stress mildly. I expected much more from the hype about the CC and dynamic clothing etc, then the BS about fashion designers I thought there should be some awesome stuff and it is just meh if not ordinary.

Comparison - World of Warcraft and Aion

As you may or may not know, both of these games offer vanity pets or clothes (other games do too, microtransactions are becoming a widespread business model). Most items range between $10 to $40 USD, dependent upon their 'cool' effect. For example, a mount in WoW is more expensive than a pet given that mounts are larger and more visually impressive. Sets of clothing are more expensive for the same reason. Pets scale in price based on their look, but also what they do or their rarity - a pet that only rolls over will sell less than one that does back-flips, rolls over, and begs. This is all standard knowledge.

So why does CCP's store epicly fail? The prices aren't incredibly unreasonably (they are high though) - except that EVE is not an RPG of persons, but ships. Your Hyperion doesn't wear a monocle. For a game that has you spend 99% of your time in a ship, these items are fairly useless. Add on to the fact that, because public space doesn't exist yet, they serve no purpose for 'showing off' since we currently can't view a full body of someone else.

The Question - Even with the advent of public space in stations, will these items still be worthwhile purchases? I don't think so at these prices. CCP will need to reduce them to half OF NORMAL GAME MARKETS because the items are only relevant in a small portion of the game. People will not spend long hours in stations because the majority of EVE is in space (and will remain so I hope). Now if a vanity item for your ship is available (Paint Jobs, a Clown Drone that sprays water, w/e) then the prices can be higher as the item is usable in more parts of the game.

Character Items that will only be viewable in stations need to be substantially cheaper because they are relevant to a small portion of the game. Vanity items that are usable outside a station (such as paintjobs, 'ship pets', or a disco ball everytime you're podded) could have normal prices because they are accessible in more portions of the game.

Clown Drones. Get to work CCP

I'd like to just be able to play the game let alone waste hard earned money in this economy on some stupid useless item. Hell even if it DID something, spending money on stupid items in a PAY TO PLAY GAME IS COMPLETELY ****ING STUPID!

Totally trashy idea. Way to go CCP for ****ing in your sandbox and saying you made cakes for us to eat.

i mean, when i bought a plex i saved one to spend on aurum, but if the clothes aren't worth the cost then ill just try and pawn em off.

You can't get any of the clothing, aside from shoes, for one plex, I believe...

Hell no. Those assets are going into virtual oblivion. I'm not going to give someone else my stuff so they can further use it to reward a ****-poor development process / design decisions on CCP's part.

I was planning on dropping a PLEX, maybe two on Aurum.

The prices are just crazy...

For 60$~ i would rather buy another game, or two, or three...

I was actually excited about incarna, I'm a RPer at heart. But I cannot justify spending that kind of money on a vanity item. I do like how my full body avatar looks, glad i spent some time on that, I had planned to buy him a new shirt or two and maybe even dabble in Noble Exchange to ISK trading. The prices threw that out the window as did the very limited selection.

I'm back to looking at new ships, they are cheaper than T-shirts

For those of you who are less learned than myself, this is read as: "I have no intention to quit or cancel any of my accounts, but want CCP to remove features that let people have wrong bad fun."

In all seriousness though, the prices for vanity items are outrageous. The purpose of micro-transactions is to get people to impulse buy things they see as neat or interesting. This is achieved by selling the items at a price low enough for the customer to not care about the money, but high enough so that the company quickly makes a profit. Typically this means that things need to be sold for prices over $1 but under $5; however, the use of an alternate currency can sometimes allow the tactic to work for prices around the $10 mark, as people can be lazy enough to not do the math to convert back to a real currency.

As such, $68 for vanity items that people can't even show off should be out of the question and the person or people responsible should be reprimanded in some way. Prices this high do little more than insult the player-base.

Too expensive for my blood, not quitting or anything (but to those who do: "can I haz your stufz!", it may just buy me some Aurum at the ludicrous prices Shocked!). CCP lower these prices waaaaaaaaay down and I may consider contributing. Good job on everything else though.

At those prices, never going to happen.
I could probably hire a few Icelandic smiths to make me a real monocle based on that design for less than it would cost in-game (including postage).

I was thinking "Hey, maybe I can get a cute outfit for a plex". Unfortunately, there's only ONE outfit available (plus another shirt, which is almost identical to the other except that it costs 4400 AURUM), and I don't feel like dropping 1.6 billion isk (the cost of 4 PLEX, which is what it would cost if I got the one outfit with the CHEAPER shirt) for something that doesn't even look all that great to begin with... nor does it matter what you wear anyways, since nobody else can see how my ass looks in that skirt anyways.

I'll consider making purchases of clothing and accessories if all of the following conditions are met:

1) I see something that I like, that suits my character.
2) Avatar-to-avatar interaction is implemented along with a compelling reason for two characters to meet in station (or via high-resolution, full-color telepresence).
3) The things I want cost no more than 100 million ISK or so (or equivalent) -- and even that would likely be pushing it. It would have to be a highly noticeable item for me to pay that much. The most I'd probably pay for shoes would probably be in the 15 mil range.
3a) Aurum would have to be available for sale/purchase on the market, so I don't have to break a PLEX and waste the excess aurum on items I don't want.

As for custom ship paint jobs, I might be willing to pay something like 100 mil on a paint job for a PvE ship that I'm unlikely to lose. Of course, if painted ships end up getting ganked with extreme prejudice, that significantly decreases the value of the paint (making it a liability, in fact).

For a ship I am likely to lose anyway, I probably wouldn't pay more than 5-10 mil for a paint job.

I've no interest in it whatsoever.

I play EVE cos I enjoy it's core values. Ships, occasional PVP, science and industry...etc

Besides which. I'm overweight and fast approaching middle age. Why on earth would I want an avatar with a tight ass and chiselled chin. Now if I could give my avatar a beer belly, receding hairline and a T-shirt with last nights dinner on it I might have some interest.

I really feel I should high-5 you for this. Exactly how I feel, I wont be buying these vanity objects that have absolutely no effect on me doing missions or PvP, or making my research go quicker etc etc.

These items should have been made and sold for ISK and be another line of Industry perhaps, i'm sure there are plenty out there who would like the chance to produce something different such as clothing using new PI goods or something. Anyway waste of time putting this together imo.

I would probably have bought something for 5$. Meh. Selection is bad. Price is too high, probably will be reduced once the people who are willing to buy at that price already have.

I'll never sink so low that I'd spend vast amounts of RL cash on badly designed generic clothing for a game character. For me that's even lower then people collecting free vanity items in WOW... And that's pretty damn low.

I'm all for plucking out some dev-eyes tho... But come to think of it maybe a +3 Int implant would help even more...

Whoever came up with the NEX: you are scum in my eyes and the reason our planet is so screwed up. You should be ashamed.

For the prices they're selling these items, they could've supplied each purchase with a complimentary bottle of lube.

Prior to the patch I though about getting one or 2 silly items, maybe a hat or a gun belt just for lolz.
After having CCP spit in my face imo i'm not sure i'll ever bother to get anything ever.
The pathetic 8 items dont realy seem that different from the free stuff. There's no Black Leather Jacket for the pirate crowd, no white lab coat for the industry people, no coveralls for miners. Just not a single thing that would reflect the nature of our characters or the roles we play in game.
Looking at the market the next arrivals seem like formal dress uniforms. Why ?
The incompetence of the roll out has totaly turned me off the entire concept and i'm not sure the taint will ever wear off to allow me to participate without feeling like a stooge.

I'm deeply concerned that if i ever participate at all this will give ccp the impression that time heals all wounds or that i've forgoten the glaring insult that is the billion isk monocle.

Yes same here. I'm not pricipally against it, these prices are just ridiculous for what you get. A nice item for $4-7 is reasonable.

Like the Aion prices:

Pet: $6.00
Weapon skin: $7.00
(compare ship paintjob)
Whole clothes set: $5.00
Sunglasses pack: $3.50
Full character remake: $7.00
(compare bloodline change)

These feel more like "normal" prices. Not just one skirt for $15.00; a whole clothes set (shirt, pants, shoes, jacket) would be like $60.00, which is slightly .. "overpriced".

I'll likely buy some ship skins when they come out. I fly a Nightmare and a Machariel for missions, so dropping 1-2B on a reskinned ship? Sure.

I probably won't buy any of the cloths unless something really stands out.

Indeed, i would never buy something for those prices, that is clear for me. Secondly, the stuff in right now is incredibly ugly. Buying ugly overpriced stuff is still stupid in my book.

But as a ccp guy said, thats in the eye of the beholder. I guess some people will pay the stupid tax.
