If you play for fun, pay for the game with a CC subscription.

Failing that, get a better income stream

I sort of agree with the OP. PLEX prices are high, and will only go higher with AURUM.

I'm a college student without a lot of cash, I've relied on PLEXs for most of my Eve career just to play.

However, I can easily make 2-3bil every month, playing for a couple of hours every other night, and not counting Faction/Officer spawns.

It would be my suggestion to the OP, to look into/do the following:

Tips/Suggestions:
- High-Sec: Run Lvl 4 Missions, Loot & Salvage everything, and save the LP.
- High-Sec: Setup Planetary Interaction in your closest Low-Sec, Easily 20-40mil/day (Cov Ops Hauler/Cheap Hauler for moving things in/out)
- High-Sec: Every week or two, make a spreadsheet of the LP rewards. Get the going market price, and how much LP it costs to get it. Divide the Market Price by LP to find the best LP to ISK item. Then get as many of that item as you can and put them on sell orders.
- Low-Sec: Go back to high-sec. You can get good ISK from Exploration and Lvl 5 missions, but it's not guaranteed and you could easily get camped for hours.
- Null-Sec: Belt Rat and Run Sanctums, Loot & Salvage everything.
- Null-Sec: Setup Planetary Interaction, Easily 30-50mil/day.
- Null-Sec: Any Ammo, Cap Boosters, or Metal Scraps from Loot/Salvage should be reprocessed and minerals sold in null-sec.
- Null-Sec: Contract a Jump Freighter to jump your loot, salvage, and PI products out every (other) week.
- Haul all Loot, Salvage, and PI products to Jita for sale. Be sure to use sell orders to maximize profits.
- I usually reprocess anything that is worth less than 20k ISK.
- Train for and use R&D Agents to Produce Data Cores (Not a lot of ISK, but it's completely passive.)

Not much you can do about speculation, its the market. Good for those that bought masses of PLEX early.

Would not worry too much, the higher the price goes the more likely that a few extra people start converting their $$$ to isk. Will even out in the end.

Playing EVE for free is not a right.

If saving $15 isn't worth 380M ISK to you, then spend the $15.

That's just it. NOONE plays Eve for free. you either pay with your wallet, or you pay with the time spent making the isk.

PLEX prices are not high, they used to be higher before the ingame mechanism was introduce. If anything PLEX prices are too low.

it already was 420 but then fell quickly back to 380

clearly someone regulates the prices so its unlikely it will grow again

I remember a time when less than 300m bought 90 days. Now where'd I leave my walking stick?

Last time I checked I was a college student.

I pay for 3 eve accounts on yearly subs... I work and make less then minimum wage in return for free housing and go to school full time... Hell eve is a lot cheaper compared my other expenses like going out with friends.

I don't understand how you people are so poor. I highly doubt anyone makes less money than I do (and actually holds ANY job) yet the whining is amazing.

I also make enough isk in eve to fund another 3 accounts with GTCs. Sure it'd be nice to have all 6 on GTC's but spending $11 a month (or 15 if you really can't save up $100 my lord) should not be THAT difficult for you. With my meager income I do it 3 times over!

Less whining and more playing would probably help

I also remember those days. I even remember purchasing a 90 day one for 185 million ISK once, lol. That was a very long time ago, before CCP did away with the 90 day GTCs to be more "in align with the industry standard".

It's not so much about having the money, but rather wanting to spend it on eve.

I earn 350mil/day. Use your brains and find better income stream or pay with RL cash, problem solved.

If you are a college student and soo poor you can't pay $15/month for a game (what is that 5 sodas, 3 starbucks, etc) then you have seriously large problems to worry about in your life than a video game. Come to think of it, you shouldn't be spending so many hours in a video game either. Get out and socialize with your fellow students and have some fun while you are there. Worry about wasting time gaming when you get your dead end job.

While I pay for eve with plex, It is worth noting that 3-4 hours of REAL work = enough to pay for a months playtime..
The biggest people hit by this are the ones making the least complaint - People who might play from 3rd world countrys where they have little to no real income.

wow, im at uni and i still find the time to earn isk and pay for eve for 2 of my accounts from plexes, if you have more than 1 account using gang links is the key (even high sec mining can keep my accounts up and running without an issue) 1 less night out or a few less drinks and you can easily pay for eve.

Actually, they did away with the 90 day codes to sneak in a stealth price increase.
the $$/Day ratio changed with the 60d codes (went up)....

I could pay a month of gametime with 45 minutes overtime. Alas, the union won't let me work more overtime this year.Neutral

I don't sell single plex under 400mil, and still market order is around for a day or two max. If you can't afford, don't buy one.

I just think it is worth do 2-4 hours RL work and buy couple plexes with that money, so i can play EVE like i see fit, without grinding isk.

If you drink one less six pack a month, and do a little less dr*gs you will find that paying 34.00 for 2x plexes is easy!

Eve will also be leading you to a healthier and better life.

As increased ISK value for PLEX means it becomes more attractive to buy PLEX for ISK instead of using some RMT gold seller site I am all in favor of increased PLEX prices. Even as one who buy them myself to run my account.

So many people these days complaining about plex prices. I used to sell 90 day and the 60 day time codes on the forums a while back and I thought the pricing was low back then, and I think they are relatively inexpensive now. Someone spent their hard earned money for you to play eve is what is going on in a nut-shell.

Now, I myself have been out of work since september of 2010 (though lack of getting out applying myself isnt part of the issue there) so yeah I plex all 3 of my accounts like clock work on the 20th of every month. I complain about the price sure, but not because its so 'expensive' but because i often have my eye on some sexy faction gear for my nightmare, or my phantasm or even my legion or tengu that is also expensive.

The pricing of a plex shouldn't be the concern, there are plenty of ways to make that much isk in a relatively short ammount of time. ie: sell all your minerals to my alt so she can then tripple the investment in a couple hours, or running missions or loads of other things.

Hell, go invest in a t3 (I suggest a tengu or a legion personally) get a friend to go with you into a wormhole in a cloaking noctis and go knock out 30 cosmic anomalies in about 6 hours and fly out of the wormhole with about 800mil EACH. Making money is not hard to do in eve if you only apply yourself. Complaining on the forums about market pricing being to high on something, especially on a subject that no one really cares about, is pointless. the players dont care, ccp doesnt check (nor could they do anything if they did), its just pointless. Remember its true economics in this game, hence the player-driven market. Each item on the market has its ups and downs. Take the Centum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer for example. When I built my first legion it cost me under 300mil, when I looked at them the other day it was just under 400mil. Player-driven markets such as the one in eve just have that natural fluctuation that comes along with it, take it or leave it. Nothing you, me or anyone else can do about it. Just deal with it and be happy that you have it.

Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome our free healthcare is! Wink

Anyway, my point is that "working a few hours more" isn't a valid argument. While many should just man the f--- up and get a job, others people are students, have families to support, or simply don't have a job where there is a need for overtime etc.

Very HappyVery HappyRazz

I reply that if you don't make enough to pay $15/month for a game because of your family obligations or don't make enough, then you simply don't earn enough to play a paying game and shouldn't be playing the game and use the EVE time to better your RL situation via a 2nd job or going back to school or learning some other job skill.

But those complaining about not being able to afford a 2nd, 3rd account, etc are just laughable. Play with 1, thousands are able to enjoy the game with 1 account. You need to make new friends to takeover whatever your 2nd and 3rd account was doing.
