Drone Skill Question.

I currently just re-mapped for Drones and should basically have every sub-cap Drone skill to V in a few months except, all the racial drone skills. What is the concensus on training those for to V to get that last 2% bonus? Is it worth the 2 months of time it would take.

Long Term Goal... fly every ship BC Hull and down, respectfully well. I have no desire flying big expensive ships. One day, I intend to train a BS to V so I can use my Jump Drive Cal V for something OTHER then a jump frieghter I never use.

Only worth training the racial spec drone skills to level IV. Don't waste your time on level V.

Even if you did really want to train them to level V, I would say it would be the very last of the drone skills to bother with getting to level V.

I haven't bothered though I've considered it a few times. On my current (Per/Will) remap I'd be looking at roughly 90 days and there are just so many things I'd rather spend that time on. But I suppose if I were ever to spec Mem/Per and look at more like 70 days, 50ish without Amarr Spec, I might consider it. Maybe.

Personally, I wouldn't. I can't justify 20 days of skill training for a mere 2% (per race, with my attributes and implants).

I have better things to train in that time period.

However, if you have specifically remapped for this... I dunno, it still seems like a waste.

Like the weapon specialisations, lvl V is only for you if you really want to specialize in that weapon system. How much do you love drone boats? Even on a ship bonused for drone damage you'll struggle to notice a difference.

The only thing to consider is that you will probably never go back to a mem/per map, so if you were going to train them, now is the time to do it.

I would train them to 5 if i were getting a carrier.
Except for the amarr one ofc :p

If you remapped to train drones.. then train all the racial drones to 4, and if you think you may fly capital ships some day.. train fighters to 5 now and consider fighter bombers 5 as well because you should never be remapped to Memory ever again.. if never going to fly a cap.. get T2 sentries, Heavy's etc... and stop at 4

I wouldn't bother. Save them for when you go on 2 week vacations and need something to keep the queue warm while you're gone. Laughing

Why exactly did you remap for this? I could understand if you would shoot for fighterbombers and perfect carrier skills, but otherwise, you waste 8 of the 12 months the remap lasts.

And like any other skill you train from 4-5 on a pure damage skill is never as big as it says. You get a 1,8% damage boost from training racial spec skill, compared to what you had before. Compared to the training time, thats a laughable increase.

To put this into perspective, training specific armor resistances to 5 nets you more effective combat powress on an armor tanked drone boat than that.

Because I have 3 remaps available. Literally all my core skills are at V. Navagation is completely done, Sheild and Armor, done. EWAR, done. Once I do drone, I need leadership, and for about the next 2 years its nothing but ships, guns, and missles.

one remap only last for 12 months and after originals attributs are back ?

ok i checked evelopedia but still have a question, i have 2 remap available, is it correct that i can't use them before 1 year after the last remapping ?

cause i remapped for drones too 2 months ago and hope i/m not stucked with that Very Happy (i should read info boxes i know)

I only use the Minmatar drones, Warrior II, so for me it makes sense to train that one T2 specialization skill to 5, but training all 4 drone specialization skillz to 5? I doubt that, unless maybe you're a dedicatd droneboat pilot.

How does one get the idea that it "reverts back" 12 months after a remap?

Also, if a remap is available, it is... available. If no remap was available, it would say so and tell you when the next one is available. What would be the point of having 2 remaps if you had to wait for 12 months before using the second one? Very Happy

Dedicated droneboater checking in.

Gall, Minni, Caldari drone spec to 4. Amarr drones are useless. My two cents.

Well, actually it's 10% increase in damage as most people fly 5 drones. %10 is not a bad number really. With that being said yes, I can think of better skills to train in that skillset besides the racials to 5.

I'm really curious as to how you came up with that math. A 2% increase to each drone is still a 2% increase to total drone DPS.

If only drone specialization would make your sentries shoot harder I would consider getting Gallente drone spec to V.

Actually, it won't be even close to a 2% damage increase; from memory,

100 (base%) + 100 (DI) + 25 (relevant basic skill 5) + 8 (Spec4) = +233 or *2.33
vs
100 (base%) + 100 (DI) + 25 (relevant basic skill 5) + 10 (Spec5) = +235 or *2.35

so 235/233= ~1%

That being said, the only ones I would ever consider are gallente and matari

The fact that sentries aren't affected is more than made up for by sentry damage rigs (10% each, stacking penalized?)

edit: checked skills list to confirm numbers; they're right

Well, yes. To be technical. Certainly nowhere near 10%.

They are. But I sure as hell would train specs to 5 if they were to add even more damage to sentries on top of that.
