I have in my fleet 2 isthars + noctis. I want to expand it for fastest possible setup to grind lvl4's in amarr/gallente space. My question is what ship would do the best for tanking purpose and taking down big targets (bs/bc). I was already considering Navy Scorpion, but to be honest I haven't got much experience with battleships, I would appreciate some advise!

Navy Scorpion would be easier to manage than Navy Raven. And it is cheaper.

If you feel that you need more dps than Navy Scorpion provides, then upgrade to Navy Raven.

I though the same, btw. I'm not limited just to the caldari. I was wondering about nightmare or machariel (since it's going to be a ship to take on big targets on short range).

Rattlesnake? beast of a tank, and makes use of the drone skills you no doubt have already trained for, sentry + cruise should make short work of battleships. Make sure to fit a sentry damage aug, a couple of omnis and 3 ballistic controls ofc!

I agree with rattlesnake that it's an awesome ship, but I'm having problem while blitzing the missions... I need to have a ship that will tank all the npcs at optimal distance for sentries from two other drone boats. Having a rattlesnake will solve my problem partially.. it will tank, but sentries will have range problem again plus they attract too much attention from smaller ships :P. Like I said it's for blitzing the missions... and making it most easy for me to run the entire tandem heh.

Drop in, shoot everything to get full aggro. Drop sentries.

They never swap target, so if you aggro them all, your drones are safe.

Is this in addition too the ships you are already fielding, or is it to replace one of the three?
I assume this is multi boxing? are you looking to have setups that are more hands off or are you happy to be swapping between clients cycling lots of diffrent crap all over the place?

do what the isk farmers do.

Abaddon feeds cap to a Dominix which in turns shield boosts two ravens. and one noctis for looting.

well you did ask the "best" and these guys are doing missions at one week old.

Imo multiboxing 4 ships in my mission is far from being efficient. Its ok if its low dps ships as ishtars, but once you get nightmare or mach... it would be just waste.

Dont even consider navy scorp, machariel or nightmare are much better and you dont need any dedicated tank ship if you have more than 2k dps in mission.

machs are ALMOST as good as a nightmare.
machs will eat up **** tonnes of ammo doping missions.
a nightmare will use about 4 lens every 65+ missions. in my case 75+

Machariel is better for every mission, that is not vs em/th weak npcs.

For Amarr space, the Nightmare is king for sure. The mach eats sansha's like butter also. For Gallente space both of those ships would be great.

CNR is pretty nice at running missions also. a GREAT combo would be a CNR with either a domi or rattler sentry support.. That requires much less micromanagement because you can tank a domi or RS for any l4, and just set the sentries to assist.

Yeh im multiboxing, hence why im looking for a tanking bs, so the drone boats would work on it's own just "defending" main tank. I dont want to focus too much on setting the ships properly or flying away, i just prefer to warp in, take the agro and let the drone boats take down all the npcs. Cycling between toons during mission is no fun, it's ok for mining though but not for mission running ;). thanks for replies:)

In that situation the an sni would be fine, as would most of the tank bonus t1 battleships, but a rattlesnake would do the job whilst also providing aditional heavy afk friendly drone dps.

If you are willing to switch between ships though a trio of gank fitted faction bs/t3/command ships should be able to lay out enough dps to not really care to much about tanking things =)

If you are willing to switch between ships, use 2 gank fitted pirate/faction battleships, forget about salvaging.

A serious lvl 4 Hisec mission runner does not just do it in one ship :)

You need at least 2. One for Long range good DPS and good tanking. The CNR is great.

Another ship for blitzing. Tengu is great.

An Optional 3rd ship is one who is just a beast. Good for those few missions with many BS rats that spawn in close. You rely on pure DPS to power through. Golem is great for this.

An optional 4th ship is the Noctis to clean up. Yes, I actually do clean up some missions. Not the majority, but some - but this ship doesn't count. :)

I probably spend 65% of the missions in the CNR, 20% Tengu and 15% Golem.
