So i was wondering, what type of ammo do you guys use in pve?

I usually do afk missions in a drake, standard heavy missiles, however i found that i can run those missions 50% faster with tech 2 counterparts. Though they are 10 times more expensive.

I haven't made the math but it seems that tech 2 are worth it.

For my lasers I use T2 and Faction (from the LP store)with T1 for backup. When I fly a Drake or CNR I use T1 missiles. It's not so much how fast you finish the mission, but your isk/hour ratio. I can finish them faster with T2 missiles, but not fast enough to offset the cost. I make more isk/hour using T1 missiles. isk/hour = (bounties + melted loot - ammo cost) / time.

I have 3 ships I use for mission running: Golem, CNR, and Tengu.

For the Golem, navy torpedoes or javelin torpedoes. For the CNR, it's navy cruise missiles. For the Tengu, it's fury heavy missiles or regular heavy missiles depending on the target (regular heavies for frigates, fury for cruisers and up).

For the longest time, I was using faction ammo...While during that time, I was inventing and manufacturing T2 ammo (heavy, cruise & torp -- both types for torps) and had stocked piled over 300,000 of each damage type.

Now I exclusively use T2 ammo...Once it ever runs out, I'll go back to faction while I stockpile T2...:-)

It depends a bit on whether i blitz or kill everything, for blitzing faction/t2 ammo is well worth the cost but for killing everything it becomes more isk/hour efficient to use t1 ammo.

PS wrong toon, hate when i do that ...

Mostly T1 for missiles, T2 for blasters, but enough faction for a couple of reloads to kill any tough targets like officers & named rats quickly.

Imperial Navy Multifrequency is my workhorse, Scorch occasionally if I'm using pulse lasers and Navy Standard if for some reason I'm running out of cap or I need extra range with Beam lasers.

T2 Javelin/Fury torpedos - twice cheaper than Caldari ammo and more effective.

I don't watch the wallet or keep spreadsheets of how cost effective it is to use Tech 1 ammo verses Tech 2 or Faction. That's too much work and I play this game for fun. As long as I make isk I'll always use the high level munitions. That's what I trained skills for and it cut's down on the amount of different types of munitions I have to keep stocked.

Missiles are mainly Tech 2.

Projectile ammo:

Long range = Tech 2
Short range = Faction

Sorch and faction crystals are worth every penny. Although I have been known to get lazy and use t1 crystals in my tach ships for a while.

Hml + fury ammo is totally worth it, other high damage ammo is less usefull due to it being harder to get that damage onto the target effectivly (looks good in eft though >_>), but if you have the right set up it's pure win.

Long range ammo like scorch and javlin torps also totally rocks in the right situation.

Faction ammo imo is a bit dependant on what you are flying, something like 1400mm artys use so little ammo that firing faction ammo 100% of the time is still pretty damn cheap, but setups like hml tengus can chew through so much ammo it's quite scary.

Personally I nearly always use faction or t2.

T2 missiles only!
I know they are a bit expensive, but a while ago I bought 1kk scourge heavy missiles and 300k precision missiles. It costs around 600 kk If I remember correctly, but will be enough for about a half year of missions running with my playtime.
And since I jump to the game in short windows of spare time, T2 missiles saves me an average of 20-25% of time per mission.
(And i do kill everything without blitzing. Well maybe sometimes leave frigates if they are not needed for completion).

Always, always Scourge Fury in my NH (unless I'm shooting a whole ton of frigates; then usually T1). T1 in my Machariel; faction really didn't prove cost effective and Barrage proved kinda pointless with that much falloff in the first place. Swap to faction when I refit with arties though. Faction/Scorch in any pulse ship, faction with beams. And it's been so long since I've used a hybrid that I don't know what I'd do....

Marauder, Nightmare (and other ships with few weapons and big damagebonus) : T2 for longrange / Faction for short (like Javeline torps + caldari navy torps). T1 for Structures etc

Pulse Laser Ships : Scorch + Multifreq

Everything else: T1 (and a few loads of faction if you realy need a few extra dps).

I use my ****load of crapy LP from corps I used to fly for and stoped after I realized that their LP Stores's are, indeed, crap.
Can still turn in millions and millions of ammo, should have checked their stores a few years ago before I flew for them Rolling Eyes
