Instad of ccp wasting all their dev time on half baked rubbish like microtransaction tank-tops I'd like to see some actual game improvements. Like faction war getting fixed, a new faction and weapon system being introduced, or an alien invasion.

Seems to me that microtransaction put vets off, never mind new players. Whereas improving and expanding the game would attract new players and keep vets interested. Guess this is a bit hard for CCP's employees to figure out, though.

I must say this game could do without so much vets. Making the game more atractive for new players should have priority though.

At least they can walk in their CQ now .. Laughing

Honestly I could care less about pure vanity items. If they started adding things that influence the game, or start putting E-Shop adds all over the place, I'm out for good.

Isk sinks good I guess.

Except that it's NOT an ISK sink.
ISK doesn't get destroyed, just shifted to whoever brought the PLEX to be converted to AUR into the system.

slow down there Akita, they said they could make thing cost multiple currencies. it could cost isk AND aurum for a yatch. it's like a super shuttle.

Well, in that case, it would be also an ISK sink, yeah.

The AUR shop only accepts AUR, not ISK. AUR is parts of PLEX.

Hopefully this isn't the case and the AUR store works like LP store and requires [token?] amounts of isk for each purchase.

Just for you… and I've removed the ISK↔AUR link, because afaik, there is no way to transfer AUR — any trade between the two have to go through the PLEX market.

AFAIK, you should be able to donate AUR from pilot to pilot, the same way you'd donate shares in a corp or donate ISK.
There's just no guarantee you'd get anything back in return.

Allegedly, it's somewhere in the dev Q&A thread IIRC, but can't find it (the thread, that is) right now (where the hell did it go?)

It doesn't HAVE to be that way. Just because everybody else does it like that doesn't mean alternatives are impossible.
In the beginning, maybe it will be like that, because it's easier to start off that way.
However, later on, I fully expect to see at least some of them requiring in-game harvested materials and using AUR-purchased "blueprints" (maybe just limited run, but infinite runs might also make sense, depending on pricing).
And it can get much more *usefully* complex, with the AUR purchase(s) being merely the first small step in a much longer chain.

Highly unlikely. At best, it will be left behind to be an "alternative gameplay mode for the sandbox" like PI/FW/Wormholes as the focus shifts to other game mechanic expansions.

Its a cash grab, and will always be a cash grab. If anything, the system will progress into more goods being sold to make more money, spilling over from the vanity items to plex for remap type. We could very well see a C-Store style arrangement in 2-3 years.

LOL

I love troll threads, and i love the rage that the create.

All of your tears and rage taste so sweet to me.

TO RE-ITERATE CCP HAS stated numerous times, there would never be any game item in Microtransactions that would affect game play. This includes, ships, modules, boosters, or your mom. They are and will only be for VANITY ITEMS.

oh and to people quitting the game, please contract all of your stuff to me, because everything after incarna is just fixing the game. But you were too stupid to read the dev blogs that stated this last year.

Why ppl have so much blind faith in CCP i cannot understand. They broke their word or turned 180° a few times already, so what makes you think that this time will be different?
Oh and btw, they know it themselves, too, and are chicken about it. Once they released a song, "harden the **** up"....yea, back to you CCP, not ONE WORD during fanfest about introducing MT, as if you didn't know already.

Just go with time, in 5 years, mark my words, we will all be used to a fully fledged MT-Shop with every item available, beeing it Incarna, Dust or Space.

I can totally see it happening. Like people complaining about Tier 4-5 ships for some races and CCP seeing it as an opportunity to make loads of money. And THERE WILL BE tons of buyers.

As long as the items for sale with AUR eventually are able to be purchased with ISK I personally don't have a problem. It's very similar to the system we have now. A person is paying real money to either get an item cheaply (in game terms) or to resell for more in game currency.

The problem I have is when we start to see items that can ONLY be purchased with real currency, other than pure vanity items.

Fortunately, I think CCP recognizes this... and realize they will sell MORE items for real money if they can always be resold in game for ISK. It provides a much stronger incentive to purchase the item to begin with, and irritates your player base far less. You don't have to worry about accusations of being able to "pay real money to win", because anyone can purchase the item (with real or in game currency).

This was not a troll, in fact I agree with the principles of your post about the items being vanity only. I suggested that any ships sold via Aurum would have no advantage over existing ships and would be shiny vanity items like luxury yachts etc.

For the record I am not against cash shops and if CCP offered anything that interested me I would pay for it. Just think about how we pay for our entertainment with smart phones, i-pads, Blu Ray/DVD movies PC/console games and everything else.

Dozens of companies have their hands in our wallets nowadays so if CCP offer items via Aurum and I think its balanced with the cost to entertainment value I would pay it.

Very nice flowchart. But you need to include GTC between RL currency and plex as the latter is not directly obtainable via the former.

Actually, it is. You can buy PLEX directly from CCP using RL cash. Look into account management.

Also, will players be able to gift Aurum to each other as we can with ISK?
If so, I can see players setting themselves up as brokers for currency exchange, if you don't want to cash out a whole PLEX or want to sell Aurum for ISK without waiting for market orders to clear.
Yes you can trade Aurum between players, the broker idea... hmm you setting up the business?

Though, so far this doesn't work on Sisi.
AUR is a one way street for PLEX.
Couldn't find a way anywhere to transfer AUR from player A to player B.

They will once dust rolls out..... Here is an assortment of quotes with links for your review:

I qoute CCP Shadow from the PS3 blog on Dust514:

"Hi Vorlord. DUST 514 won’t have a monthly subscription like a number of MMOs. DUST 514 will have virtual goods sales though, that allow you to buy various types of gear used in combat."

"Hey Shoryukenll,

You’ve asked a few things I can’t delve too deeply into, but what I can comment on is what you said about virtual items and real money. DUST 514 will support purchases made through both in-game earned currency and real money currency."

Hmmmmm........ DUST514 is supposed to be tied into OUR Eve universe so now $$$$ for game changing items is one step closer......

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/06/06/introducing-dust-514-a-persistent-shooter-from-ccp/

Qouted from the Beginnings Blog on the Dust514 site:

"DUST 514 will, as EVE Online does, have a dynamic virtual economy and market that offers the tools that will give you a competitive edge, when used skillfully. Players are able to purchase different gear to equip before deploying into battle, using InterStellar Kredits (ISK), the in-game earned currency of the EVE universe, or through real money currency, called Aurum (AUR). This provides players with flexibility and adaptability in how they approach a combat scenario. Certain items are only available through ISK transactions, while others are only available through AUR. These are then traded freely on a player-driven secondary marketplace."

So... CCP is including AUR in DUST which further ties it into Eve and explains why CCP isn't listening to the feedback from the players.

CCP also clearly states that AUR is purchased with RL money........ There should be absolutely ZERO arguments that AUR comes from anything other then RL cash money......

Monacles today. Game altering gear tomorrow!!!!!

http://www.dust514.com/en/news/?article=1980

"RPS: So, if I’m an EVE player, how is my game going to change after DUST is released?

Torfi: Well, you have the ability to be more strategic when you are conquering planets and solar systems, in nulsec. Those are the main touchpoints. Highsec carebears need not worry. The same for lowsec. The main touchpoint upon the launch of DUST, will be in nulsec, will be in sovereignty, will be in inflicting damage and destruction and death upon your enemies, destroying their infrastructure and their means to survive, either by means or scorched earth or by stealing their installations on the surfaces of planets. There will be more going on on the surfaces of planets. We’ve introduced mechanics allowing people to manufacture goods on the planets, but planets will play a more pivotal role in sovereignty mechanics further down the line."

Snippet of the RPS interview on Dust 514

So not only will the dust players spend RL cash to buy an advantage in their game, they will be using that RL cash purchase to buy an advantage in OUR sov warfare.

This is why a lot of us don't want MT of any form in Eve. Our concerns do not matter as CCP has already planned the future and it is RL cash transactions to buy an advantage........
