Honestly, between the "faction" warfare glorified piracy and the regular old cowardly scum who camp gates with 20 guys and a swarm of drones to decloak and cause lag it's becoming impossible to move around low-sec.

I shouldn't need a scout just to fly a couple of jumps into lowsec to get to my mission, it's not like it would be worth the ISK to run it in the first place if I have to pay out a second guy, that's why I don't mine (have to pay the hauler).

I have a few changes to suggest,

1. Sentry guns should have all the CONCORD ewar effects, obviously not to the same degree but they should at least jam and neut a little bit so you can't just sit there and ignore the guns. Maybe even add a short range point so if you sit within 24km (point range) of the gate the guns web and point you. It's a bit **** for pirates with RR and cloaky falcons to engage without any risks whatsoever when clearly my raven doesn't have a point fit, so even if I can beat them they just run. EVE is about risk/reward, where is the risk in low-sec piracy??

2. Don't let people deploy drones within 10km of a gate or station, just like smartbombs. I mean smartbombs on a station is just lame griefer tactics and everyone knew it so they removed that tactic from the game. Everyone knows the gateguns pop your drones so you can't use them in real combat, people just deploy huge clouds to cause lag and that should not be allowed.

3. If you are negative sec status, the guns should never stop shooting. In real life the cops don't stand still at the scene of the crime and stop shooting as soon as you get out of eye sight. They also don't forget about it 15 minutes later. If you do the crime, you should do the time. You wanna sit like a noob and camp one gate all day and shoot me? well the police will shoot you too. They guns shouldn't have to wait until the guy gets all his buddies in range and ready to engage before they start helping...

Any other ideas on how to improve lowsec? Right now it's just stupid and if even a few of these ideas were implemented it would be perfect.

I do think that the gate guns should be revamped .

I think that they should do incredible damage ...but have very bad tracking ....... pirates throughout history use SMALL fast vessels . Fast af and the pirate faction frigs should be able to out maneuver gate guns....would take a bit of skill ..but can still pirate effectively esp. With a small gang.

The big bs/command ships would have a much tougher time on lower gates .

You already have multiple methods of protecting yourself, perhaps you should employ the existing ones before whining for new ones that you also wouldn't use. If you are completely ignorant of the existing methods lemme break it on down for you.

1. Brain, use it. You've got one, all signs indicate that, being able to type, fly interweb spaceships, and so on. You just need to employ it more vigourously.

2. As said previously, scout. Take something fast as all hell, any speed fitted frigate will do, insta warp out, then back, or something equally effective.

3. The map, set it to display kills and if there's a big ominously glowing ball on the system you want to go to, you'll know you shouldn't.

Now these are just the three most obvious, there's another list of things you can do to not be ganked again. You just have to do these things and get off your whiny ass. Of course these things only help you minimize the risk ENTERING the system.

Besides, let's say you got your wish and the gate sentries were made into incredible pirate killing machines, they'd just warp into your mission and kill you there so you'd whine about that then, demand, like so many before you, that low Sec be pacified, probably hurling out the long tried and tired "only real PvP'ers live in 0.0 and low Sec pirated are wannabies" blah blah blah. From the sound of it the only reward for no risk your really miffed about is your own, but hey that's okay cause it's you and not those mean ole piwates right?

Not that I agree with the OP, but even fast things are susceptable to the dreaded SB Rokh. I personally could live exclusively in low-sec.....if I want I can stop for pew pew or completely avoid it. Its a wonderful balance and if you aren't brain dead you can get almost anything done there that you can in high sec.

Back woods low-sec like solitude region is especially nice......it has a nice 0.0 buffer and is relatively quiet.

lol. lowsec has never been as empty as it is now. Unless you are autopiloting through one of a few systems known to have lots going on, you will probably not even run into anything bigger than a frig on a gate while making long roams in lowsec.

oh and what pirate tears? there aren't even any pirates left anymore. All the former ones I know either quit the game or are in highsec or 0.0 now.

Its low sec its a harsh place to live in at times why should CCP punish people who wish to live there and pvp there why should it be safer for people who live in high sec to visit and pass by other people homes? and u can avoid it as people with -10 are semi forced to live in low and null

oh i dont know about the ewar but having small contingents of the local navy on the gates occasionally would make things interesting, with chances and ships spawning decreasing depending on security level
shouldnt this be in a diferent section though?

1) Can I Haz your stuffs? ( nobody asked this yet, I'm amazed about that )
2) Show me on the doll where the ebil piwate touched you.
3) Stay in high sec of GB2WoW ( as mentioned )
4) L2P
5) I'm an industrialist, who makes regular trips through low and null sec on a dayly basis, if there weren't any ebil piwates out there, what is the point of low sec being more profitable and less secure.
6) Without said ebil piwates, I'd be bored out of my skull in low sec. And I usually have the last laugh as I outsmart them in my non-pewpew ships. ( over 60 successfull breakthroughs of gatecamps, with about 5 losses so far, funniest breakthrough was when I was caught in a bubble and I actually managed to fly 80km to the gate in my hauler while being shot at and jump through while a falcon and arazu were annoying me )
7) When push comes to shove, or I'm up against a wall, I call in my industrial friends, and my pew pewing clients. You'd be amazed howmany people I can hire just by telling them I'll replace their ships for them if they nuke somebody for me. And replacing ships is pretty easy to do when you can build them yourself.

I have the impression that many ppl don't understand the concept of a game like EVE. Most of the painful and unfair situations are a result of players in a team. It doesn't matter if it's a 5, 10, 20, 50 men gate camp or blob. Just a few players and you don't face just some game mechanics anymore. You simply face a gang with more or less brains and skills. And you have to accept and deal with it. That's the idea behind EVE and not the idea of a balanced Arcade shooter with pefectly worked out patterns for a walkthrough. CCP can't solve your fails. You need to learn how to move and fight right. When you face in RL one guy for a fight, you probably will win if you are stronger. If he's skilled in boxing and additionally has a gun while you use a knife you will lose. Two guys will lower your chance. If you face a gang you better run. Simple. Same in EVE: if there's a lazy gate camp with 5 Guardians, pre-placed probes, Falcons, Scorpions and and and... it's their way to play in a team for a win and it's your job to find a way how to get save or you just form a counter gang to fight them IF you are in the right, experienced PvP corp capable to do it. Otherwise: just go along. Every letter to CCP to change the mechanics is a so called "whine". The game needs brain, experience, know-ledge, an alt and skills. Not that hard to understand.
