I haven't been involved in eve politics for a varity of reasons, but I received some coms links form the NC and from what I undrestand from the breif snippit of recordings It appears that the NC faces a RMT war, with PL taking a 600BISK a month contrat (30K US dollars a month) of bot cash and free laptops to crush the NC.

Now Im a young cowpoke from Jita with a thousand kills, but by my standards if this is a RMT war, then this is a war between the eve community and those who exploit this game for real life personal wealth.

This is where I draw the line. We need CCP CSM and the greater EVE community to ship up erradicate this scourge from this game. If the NC falls to RMT than EVE falls. I am suggesting a game wide call to arms.

No we need CCP to do something, but they REFUSE to do anything. They are just as bad, and I wouldnt be surprised if they themselves are RMTing. I wonder how many isk sites on google are actually run by CCP. Funny thing is you buy their isk, they then take it back, which makes you then by a GTC - double the money!

They could quite easily stop RMTing, and let the community help by say removing local, so the bots wouldnt know whos coming and out, im sure there would be massive kills by the community, thats a simple fix, but yet CCP wont do it. You have to question why...

They simply refuse to do anything to the game that will stop them and its not hard to do, instead they have some group that wrongly accuse people of RMTing and ban them, yet they continue to allow the real problem to carry on. Again you have to ask why...

They are more interested in revenue, and losing a few thousand bot accounts, will impact them. So it comes down to morales and CCP clearly has none.

The community wont stand up to them and vote with their feet, infact nothing will ever change..I would have gone ages ago if i hadnt invested crap loads of time and money...but it seems new players quite happily not subbing..hence the stagnation of concurrent users...

As a company CCP really are terrible. and you only have the CEO to blame.

removing local has no effect on bots. if you dont believe it go to wormspace.... lots of bots there and yes they know when a wormhole has been activated.

a bot can detect your presence not by looking at local list...but rather buy sending the server a scenario update request....

this is normal for player clients too... when ratting or running sanctums/havens etc the client syncronises with the server all the time so that the client's info about the locations of everything in system (including other players) matches that of the server.

"Rubberbanding" prooves this when the client's version of system info is lagged out and loses sync with the server's version of system info. bot programs read the client / server update transmissions and know when a new object has appeared in system and if it happens to be a player run ship or pod... the bot automatically warps to a safe and cloaks. this is why catching bots before they warp to a safe is extremely difficult.

ccp need to figure out how to prevent bots from reading these transmission updates

It depends on what data is being sent to the client. I don't know about EVE, but EverQuest used to send full zone data in the encrypted stream. You could decrypt the stream and find out information about every person and NPC in system in realtime, but later MMOs understood this and stopped providing that information to the clients(it's a waste of bandwidth to send that information anyways). The bots could be utilizing this information if it's provided, but I'm not sure what the stream looks like to say that for sure and I'm not sure that EVE hasn't learned from its predecessors in not providing that data and encrypting what it is sending to prevent abuse.

There's a whole mess of info you can get at if you poke around in the client's memory, which is what the new bot detection stuff is aimed at. They started trying to detect outside programs interacting with the client's memory to curb bot usage, and it seems to be working based on the qq from the bot sites. Take a look at NinjaSpud's reporting on all the tasty bot tears thread.
