Yes, another Dust thread.

QQ if you like, but the more there are the more attention CCP is going to pay to the opinions within.

Dust will fail.

1. Sony sucks. It's been demonstrated over and over. Dust will be rife with hackers and cheaters almost as bad as EVE is.

2. You are launching exclusively on a console that is going to be obsolete within a year of Dust's release. Yeah, they have said at E3 that they want to extend the life a bit longer, but what happens when the PS3 becomes old hat and no one plays Dust anymore? Another abandoned feature, but one that can't be fixed.

3. Who actually gives a **** about PI enough to want to engage in this anyway? It's not like we're fighting over tech moons here.

No. It only shows that you're a dumb, idiotic, daft moron who can't be arsed to read some of the other threads and the replies to the stuff you post down there.

And you know that because?

Right. First hand experience or the friend of my sister of my cellmate told me that..?!

As for recent hacking attacks at Sony. Well, I guess their sec is now better than MSs in regards to that.. or do you think they'll not hire pros to check their systems after this fiasco?

One: XBOX360 is also obsolete within a short amount of time, with the 720 around the corner.
Two: CCP already said in their blog over at dust514.com that they will offer a new client for the PS4 if it comes out, as they will offer the client and updates for the PS3 for free also.

Summer 2012 is officially marked as launch date for Dust.. 12 months for CCP to screw up PI and make you wish this was all just about tech moons.
Also Dust can stand on it's own, so if you can't be arsed to let them fight over your ****, they'll get other things to shot at in their environment.

See?
All already explained in other places and you still look like a moron.

Which makes me think.

a) we're already paying for xbox live so what the hell ugh
b) I would gladly pay some more subscription to have it on xbox
c) CCP completely ignores half the community - not for the first time
d) can I ruin this from space? Please?

This is not CCP's problem, it's Microsoft's problem. MS hosts the servers, they do not allow modifications to the way it runs, they require you to pay for access to the network, etc.

This is the same reason that Valve chose PS3 over Xbox. Valve is among the most respected PC game developers in the industry(CCP is smalltime comparatively). A game developer that focuses on PC first will not want the walled garden of the Xbox, as they lose control of their product in the process. It is no surprise that CCP chose the PS3 given Microsoft's restrictions on XBL.

Both clueless. M$ doesn't host the servers, but this still isn't CCP's problem either. It was likely pitched for both and M$ said no.

Moronic and clueless

"Most Xbox Live content is routed through Microsoft's Xbox Live servers. For the Xbox Live launch in 2002, Microsoft installed massive arrays of servers in four locations in the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom. At that time, analysts estimated that the network costs alone would be $500 million, a quarter of the investment Microsoft reportedly spent to institute its first Xbox console"

Source proof that you are stupid as hell

Learn to read. This means that Microsoft have total control over your online gaming experience. If XBOX Live goes down, you don't get your matches. This is just a part of the way in which Microsoft dominates all but the largest of games companies when it comes to running games on their systems, along with the fact that they do not allow cross-platform gaming, even with Microsoft based PC's running Microsoft Windows Live games.

It's more likely Sony doing a deal with CCP so that Sony exclusively gets the rights to it so more people have to go buy a PS3.

To be fair to the idiot, there are p2p games(like CoD:MW2), but servers are used by default for most games.

Yes of course it is. Some strange little deal to make a few more dollars a year rather than the clearly more obvious reason that Microsoft are total control freaks whose business ideals do not match CCP's plans for DUST to be updated multiple times a year for free.

Because lets face it, I'm sure Microsoft could afford to match Sony's bid for the game, don't you?

I agree, but it wouldn't make sense doing this for a game nobody except EVE players know about while at the same time making sure all EVE players that only have an xbox will not play the game.

Im a happy PS3 owner. DUST builds on a unique concept, should they pull it off ít will be epic, if not, another disappointment with big visions but no execution. While you sit there a year or more before the release and say its gonna suck, you really dont display your intelligence. thats for sure.

It's easier to shoot down your examples if you actually provide any. Assuming that your only backbone here is the recent hacking events targeted at Sony, this couldn't possibly happen to any other console or digital service provider, could it? Sony's security is probably safer than any other atm, simply because they don't want another failcascade.

Yes, because it will become impossible to make a transition from PS3 to PS4. The only platform not affected by this argument, is PC. Which is the one platform CCP never intended to launch Dust on.

You think too small. Sony are known for their ruthless ability to try and get exclusivity on hardware and software to promote their company. Why do you think Blue Ray is put into the PS3? Its so that is saturates the market so blue ray media is more likely to be purchased. You remember GTA?

Everyone who has an Xbox and wants to play Dust will now have to buy a PS3. Everyone who owns just a PC and knows about EVE online (all of us for example....all 300,000 of us) have to buy a PS3 to use this game. In turn this will mean we will buy not just DUST but PS3 titles and if we don't already have a blue ray player, we will start to purchase Blue Ray for our movie fun fun.

Sony would have paid BIG bucks to CCP or offered them something for the exclusivity of DUST 514.

Whilst Microsoft too, may have been a factor, I won't be so stupid to think Sony didn't offer CCP its arse for a right good romp and aggressively try and get Dust as exclusive. Sony too recognises that Dust isn't just another shooter, it's tied to the second most successful MMO of all.

It will not fail because of 1 or 2.

It will fail because it is too different to Eve Online and just wont fit. The fact its on a different platform than Eve just adds to the disjointed nature.

It will be just another FPS but one that uses a brand and theme but PS3 owners will stick with Call of Duty etc.....

Exactly, with games like BF3 and Call of Duty out there Dust has no chance other than being a niche title and as its not even on the same platform the Eve community are used to it just wont compete.

I think for a first time console game maker it would be really hard to develop and release multi-platform games. I don't really know ofc, but I do know exclusivity is a requirement in many business relationships. If it does well, I would be stunned if they couldn't release an Xbox version.
