I am thoroughly disappointed, as will my friend when he returns from holiday. Both he and I purchased Xbox's under the premise that Dust was always marketed towards being an Xbox Exclusive title.

I don't care about security issues right now, nor that it is a PS3 exclusive but such a rapid U-Turn means that I cannot justify purchasing a PS3 now just for Dust being I have invested time and money into other titles.

A huge disappointment for me and I am sure many others alike, simply based on that. Not a Sony hater nor an Xbox fanboy here, just someone mislead.

It probably wasn't an U-turn as such, I mean... I kinda doubt you stamp up an exclusivity deal in two weeks right (just guessing, if it only takes 2 weeks then it's just plain funny)?

Also, regarding the whole "they used 360 controllers", the US army use 360 controllers for their small little toy-cars rather than develop their own controllers. Apparently them controllers feel nice in the hand (and they do feel very nice).

I absolutely agree. There just wasn't any sense in making dust for the ps3. After all Microsoft has made an OS with impenetrable security. I mean it's not like there are thousands of people losing their credit card information, game accounts or other sensitive data due to exploits in Windows. So consequently we must assume that the same kind of measures are implemented in xbox live. Which can be clearly seen in the complete lack of any kind of hacks or exploits that players use in their xbox live games.

Also we have to keep in mind how unreliable the ps3 is compared to the xbox 360. The ps3 is prone to such a high degree of hardware failures that it boggles my mind how can people even think about buying it. Sure the xbox may have the occasional overheating issue but it doesn't even come close to what the ps3 users are suffering. Hence the billions of dollars Sony had to pay for repairing their consoles.

And last but not least we have to think about the integrity of the two corporations. Everybody remembers the rootkit fiasco a few years ago. That kind of thing has never occurred with Microsoft. In fact they are constantly sponsoring various open-source initiatives and are trying their best to be as non-profit as possible. Which is why although they have the majority of the pc os market there have never been any antitrust lawsuits against them.

Yup, you're right on this one.
Anyhow, looking back to Microsoft's Past issues about security ...

I completely agree that it probably has been meshed out over a longer period. But in terms of a decision to change from one platform to another, the change is rapid, especially on the marketing front. Dust has been marketed up until yesterday as an Xbox exclusive. I am sure I am not alone in my mindset of purchasing an Xbox previously as I anticipated Dust being a title for it. The other games I play are cross platform titles so my decision process would not have been stretched if it were previously said to be a PS3 only title.

I am totally behind the switch and the reasoning behind it. It makes minimal sense to pursue what will be a costly model for both CCP and for the End User by staying on a Microsoft platform. I am just gutted that I have draw the short straw.

WHY OMG IS NOT ON WII. LETS PANIC AND SCREEEEEEEEEEEEAM

I'd imagine its on the PS3 because Sony made them a better deal than Microsoft did. I'd imagine that Microsoft probably wanted a big cut of the subscription/microtranscation revenue because you are using Xbox Live.

May I suggest that you find an actual forum where people shout **** at xboxes rather than doing it here?

I was never going to be released on both consoles. At best we could see a PC release.

I have cancelled 2 of 3 accounts now. First one due to microtransactions. The second one due to microtransactions and the DUST failure.

When there is another good MMO out there, the 3rd one will go too. And I guess it will be this year.

8 Years with EvE sofar.

How does dust make any real difference to eve online ?!

Its far too different and disconnected. I don't see how eve will be worse because I won't play dust.

Dust is an add on at best and I'd be astonished if people quit because of dust.

People have a habit of threatening to quit for pretty much any reason around here. Granted it seems to be mainly drama-queens who does that >,>

ok problem so far i can see now is:

1) i doubt that most of eve players, who only own a pc, would buy a ps3 just for dust.
2) i doubt that most ps3 gamers, who don't play eve, would be interested in just another FPS.
3) and those who play both (me for example) i still doubt that they (me) will be interested in this game when there will be for example: starhawk, uncharted 3, twisted metal, ..... and of course the countless amounts of FPS out there.

Microsoft doesn't make you type in any legitimate PII when installing Windows; Sony wants to store your CC so they can share it with the world

Indeed. And when you use your exploit-free internet explorer there's no way for anyone to intercept your credit card information when buying stuff from amazon. Thank god microsoft are so good at what they do and don't force you to buy a subscription for their online services like Sony does.

A degree of user control remains when entering personal information from a PC under your control. User incompetence exists on any operating system; in Sony's case the incompetence hit epic proportions with data they were custodians of

This is pretty simple, show me evidence that as you claim sony want to store my credit card details specifically so they can share it with the world

I have no idea why you linked that link as evidence of what you claim, it's not even close.

Good. You megadrive owners get what you deserve. Now if you'd have brought a SNES like those of us with good sense and money you'd be sitting pretty.

I told you already, I agree with you. It's pretty obvious that you have no control over what you enter in your ps3 since Sony representatives come to your house and force you to type your personal information.

And another good thing about the internet explorer (which comes bundled with your windows operating system) is that it's completely dependent on the user competence. If by some means a hacker gets a hold of your personal information it's your fault. Not microsoft's. Because they made the perfect browser that has no security holes.

Actually in the EU, there is an update which forces you to make a choice between using IE, Firefox etc. Clicking on the relevant option will take you to the respective site.

Whilst Explorer is bundled with the OS, you are not forced to use it when browsing the Internet.

I'm utterly disappointed at the news its PS3 only... i dont wont to be rude but from my experience handling halftard that all use PS3s, its sucks, the community sucks, Dust 514 will not last less then a single month until it gets dominated by CoD fanboys due to this, which the PS3 exclusively consists of, not to mention the ****ty Internet connections provided by the Gamespy servers which the PS3 network uses....End of...

You can also order the N version of Windows in the EU. It's a flavour that has IE and WMP stripped out. I think you can only order it from MS directly though.
