Yeah, happens to me too. And when that happens everything else running on the PC gets locked up, frozen in time, and then fast forward everything done previously

I've lost count how many times this has happened, yesterday and today. It's getting VERY annoying. Nice to see CCP are doing something about it and they are finally responding on the forums....Oh wait...NO they're not!! Like usual, waiting for the tumbleweeds to finish blowing before they poke their heads outta the saloon doors.

yup.... seen that error code WAY too many times since the 1.6 patch, just today 4 times with that error and a few with no error code, the client just shuts down. anyway, with the extreme instability of the current build, playing is out of the question until they fix this Sad

I'm getting that too.

It gets quite annoying when you keep losing your drones due to bug.

The bug report I made for this (had mini dumps, logfiles and all that) was marked as a defect. So, maybe that means they're working on it? Rolling Eyes

Y'all broke eve with that last patch. I've never had eve fail so regularly before.

Half a gig of memory for this? No new feature. Just stabilize what you have.

From what I've seen a lot of people have fixed a lot of issues by clearing their cache, but if that doesn't work try submitting a bug report using the crash instructions so they can pinpoint it better:
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Reporting_Crashes, it's a little different than reporting a general bug because they need the memory dump to see what's wrong. Don't forget to submit your dxdiag too, maybe there's something funky with a driver and EVE.

Hi

Sorry no tech genius here

When you say clear Cache .. do you mean the Prefs. settings ??

Thanks

ps everything was final till the 1.6 patch , so I dont know if it could be the drivers.

There's a folder in your user profile the cache files are stored in...it's usually something like c:\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\ccp, all the folders in there with the word "cache" in the name are the cache folders. I think in Vista/Win7 it's like c:\users\<username>\local settings\application data\ccp or something like that.

I tried deleting my cache.

No change really ... the problem is with one of my accounts that I cant log into ... the screen freezes on login and the ram usage goes through the roof !

Not sure whats going on ? have I missed something.

Thanks

The Client itself is also able to clean the cache:

  1. Start EVE

  2. Open Settings on the Login Screen

  3. Switch to the "Reset Settings" Tab

  4. Run "Clear all cache files"

  5. Client will Restart automatially

In case you still experience issues after cleaning the cache please follow Barakkus post which shows how to create proper crash reports.

There are already several fixes out and also in the pipeline to be released in the next days but every crash report helps so please submit one if you are having issues.

(@Barakkus: Thanks for the help, it is very appreciated)

Here's what I get:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: ExeFile.exe
Application Version: 7.10.27.490
Application Timestamp: 4df8a6f5
Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16695
Fault Module Timestamp: 4cc7ab86
Exception Code: c0000005

Additional Information 3: 0a9e

This (on about 2/3 of the time I start my computer) will happen every time I try to start the game, right after the splash screen. It only gets fixed by restarting the computer, and only sometimes.

I just can make assumptions here its not really a lot of information you are providing (in case you submitted already a bug report could you please link it) but what I'm seeing lets me believe that your ExeFile.exe process isn't closing properly (c0000005 is an Access Violation issue, aka. something is still/already using/blocking it).

Next time you are running into this issue please open the Windows Task Manager, check if there is an ExeFile.exe running - in case there is end the process and try starting EVE again.

I also have some questions for you to better understand what is going on:
  1. How are you closing your game? (Quite Game in ESC Menu, Alt-F4, X-Button, etc)

  2. How many clients are you running at the same time and if, are you running all clients from the same or from separate installation(s)?

  3. Are you running LogServer.exe at the same time? And if are you seeing any Errors?

  4. How did you install your client and what way are you using to keep it updated?

  5. Have you already checked your installation using the repair tool?

I am pretty sure that an access violation exception is thrown when trying to access a memory address that the thread doesn't have access to, most commonly by doing an indirection on an invalid pointer or accessing an array index out of bounds. Probably you are confusing it with an access denied error.
