So I have a question about Captains Quarters. My computer could not handle the Carbon Charater Creator so I'm assuming it would be a safe bet assuming it won't be able to handle Captains Quarters either.
There will probably be no solution to this in-game either, like being able to dumb down the graphics or something. I kind of wish I could just choose to stay with the old hangar when June 21st rolls around.
Also, I know I need a new PC or Graphics card but hey, if anyone want's to give me the money to get either, go right ahead. I don't have the money right now or probably any time soon. |

Kind of sorry to hear this kind of thing Egrothir but.....well this has been going on since the first day PCs where invented, programming becoming more intensive and new hardware required to support it.
Might sound harsh but....face it, Move with the new hardware or drown.
And this is not ment in anyway offensive. |

Yeah I know no offense is meant it just sucks they have to do it now because I can't afford anything new. :( I might still pay for my account so I can keep training going though. I could just use my buddies PC for that like I did for my character. |

I believe that the textures used in CQ are not as high res as the character creator. They are much lower. I remember that mentioned somewhere but I do not have a source.
The only way to find out in advance is to download the duality client and try it yourself with shaders on low. |

The character creator does use higher res textures so the snapshot looks crisp.
There are graphics settings u can lower and ur machine will most probably be able to run it if its bought within the last half a decade.
Ur P266 might now tho. |

Well considering that the Character Creator chugged on my PC, I kinda dread what will happen in Captains Quarters.
System Specs
i7 920
6GB DDR3
SLI 2x GF GTX275(896MB each)
RAID0 2x 1TB HDD
Normally I run 3 clients without issue, but for the Character Creator I had to run only 1 client at a time and it still chugged.
Chances are that it will be better for me to switch to a cloakable ship and fly to a safespot when going afk with each of my toons, rather than docking up, because it will be less taxing on my system. |

you forgot a step in the process, "microsoft coming out with new patches, upgrades, or entirely new versions to hog all the newly available resources".  |
