New player, got a bit crazy with skill planning and realized how many skills there are and how long it takes to actually train them. Decided to go for missiles first because I like them and they work great for PvE. Naturally the Caracal and Cerberus came up.

I just realized the ships I've been skilling for have a 10m3 drone bay. I didn't even think to check before. What's the best use for this?

I had a mid slot set aside for a web but I see target painters have a farther range then webs, so I was thinking I might be able to get a drone to apply a web (even though it's a lesser effect) out at the greater range of 20km base drone control distance. I could then use that mid slot for a target painter instead.

Maybe would it be better to just use double webs? The drone to help get in range of the slotted webifier?

EDIT--
Crap. Web drones are 25m3 in size.

Two light 5m3 target painters then?

You are new.... or mad.

Seriously, my main has 83M SP & only in amarr, so you work it out, also I started in 2006. Yes Eve is like no other game..... nothing comes close for difficulty or depth.

Yo will be an OAP before you max out.....

Webbing drones generally arent worth it, the web is really weak and the drones themselves are quite slow and fragile, but fitting a web on your ship will help against close range rats like frigates who also like to web and scram you. Conversely a target painter will help increase your damage at long range.

As to which you use it will really depend on what mission you're doing and what kinds of rats you fight, as far as I know certain kinds of rats will orbit at range and others will just lemming in and get close. Make sure you check the mission guides as they normally tell you what rat behaviour you'll be up against.

The conventional wisdom is either light combat drones (warriors, hobs, etc.) or light ECM drones (ECM-300). Most of the other EWAR drones are not thought to be very effective.

As far as TP vs. Web, it depends on how you're using your ship, but I can't think of a good reason to put a TP on a ship that has Heavy Missile launchers.

Aim for this, if u can't use T2 use T1-highest meta possible.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/49772-Caracal-Mission-Runner.html

Forget about the drones, u'll not really use them in a caracal. And by the time u'll be able to fly a cerberus, u'll know how to fit it.

Very straightforward setup.
Thanks Linu, I'll do that.

Takes 16 days to train hobgoblins II (level IV gallente drone specialization). Use these scout drones to get more dps to kill elite frigs, and to kill tacklers.

Forget the Cerb unless you do pvp in gangs. Just get the Navy Caracal until you get into a BC.

Get a Drake for pve.

Your math is a little bad here. Hobgoblin IIs only require Drones V, Scout Drone Operation V, and Gallente Drone Operation I.
This shouldn't take more than 6-8 days depending on implants and remaps. Certainly worthwhile to train as it carries over into many other ships.

Requires? I said level IV gall drone spec. for a new char, that is 16d and 15 minutes (with perc remap and +3), for 8% damage increase. evemon math.
