So I just spent quite lot of ISK. I bought A PPH 2 (+10% scan strength), a PPF 1 (-6% scan deviation) and a few other bits.
To see just how much more awesome they would make my scanning I performed this test...
Scan with sisters core probes, get 5 results. Noted down scan strength.
Left them in space, docked up and plugged in the implants.
Undocked, reconnected to the probes and scanned again (with exactly the same placement and range), compared the results of each signal.
Every signal was lower. Each one by about 40%.
Of course, I can't repeat the test without removing the hardwires so this is only one observation. But I don't understand. They were the same sigs, scanned by the same probes in exactly the same place, only a minute or two apart, but the strength uniformly dropped after I upgraded.
Could it be a function of the decrease in deviation? As in, each signal is effectively made smaller as deviation lessens, so if you aren't in decent range it reads as weaker? I don't know. I don't understand the math.
