Simply... change so you can warp to anything on grid... from any distance (with some limitations)

then the short range of blasters wont matter as you would have easier time getting in range

The biggest problem i can see with this fix is that tactics go out the window there will be no sniper or long range setup course all fights will be a close range fist fight and only ships that have higher than average move speed like an interceptor will have the ability to get away form the blaster boats so i guess it helps blaster boats big time but kinda **** over all other ships off course a lot depends on what range you had to be at to warp to a target but with out numbers its hard to discuss it.

It's always good to see people acknowledging the problem of blasters and coming up with solutions to fix them, but as Caliglia pointed out, this suggestion would cause too many problems for other ships and combat styles. Close range combat would become so overpowered as to make middle and long range combat useless. No one would fly anything other than blaster ships.
