I'd just like to point out that better turret models look really good and so did the old ones. But there's still one weapon system that's being neglected which is missile launchers. I can't even point at a spot on a ship where said "missiles" are going to be launched from.

So far we've had basic turret models and the new shiny ones.
In the missile front we've had "missiles that launch from a midpoint of your ship"

/me thinks it's time to rethink how far you're willing to shaft missile ships.

Getting CCP to do dev work on missiles would just end up with them reducing missiles to fancy turrets as missiles use much more server CPU then turrets.

Be careful what you wish for.

they are working on it last time i saw anything on the issue.

The problem is that they need to redo so of the art assets, to accept hardpoint for launching, they need to revamp the code to make sure it launches from the right point AND change the mechanics of how the missiles fly cause they need to fly out of the tube and THEN turn towards the target

it requires quite a bit of coordination of several departments to get done and CCP sint the most organized company ever hehe

whats the point of new turrets if usually in fights you just see little squares "zoomed out" to reduce lag and actually understand the fight!

another useless feature and time wasted that could have been used for something much more pressing needs

OLD TURRETS
do not look good

Especially when you get up close and notice that
They forget to unwrap them

Yes last time they said they were working on it after they new turret graphics. This time they again got new turret graphics and again claim to do missiles later, see the pattern?

Yes ships need missile launcher hardpoints, but tbh that just needs to be done. And there is no need for any new missile graphics or mechanics. If the missile launchers can rotate similar to turrets they only need to change starting position from Ship_position to Ship_position+launcher_offset. If they would make missile launchers always in a fixed direction they simply need to give missiles an initial speed. But tbh most likely they only do it for graphics, and actual calculations still done from center of ship, so you can still use one missile calculation when grouped.

This time? Last time? Turrets not ready and, as CCP Hammer answered, are scheduled to release in september/october. CCP will not start to redo missile launchers untill then. So you can whine or you can learn turrets instead of dumb missiles.

Well, the game is only 8 years old! These things take time you have to understand.

Missile graphics and animations are definitely going to get some love (see CCP Hammer's post here). Unfortunately, I can't give any specific dates at the moment.

While at it, CCP should also fix some of the incorrect turret placements like the ones on the Megathron and the Armageddon that has remained unchanged for years now.

It may not be a big issue, but seriously: how can something like this be missed in testing and then be ignored for so long? There have been plenty of players complaining about this. The turrets appear too much out of place for it to be anything but a glitch. It almost seems like CCP's 3D-department would rather spend time playing around with new eyecandy then fixing their half-assed work. Don't they take pride in stamping out all glitches? It took them for example nearly half a decade to finally fix the wobbling Rifters! Rolling Eyes

I believe they are meant to be spread around like that so you have better 360 coverage. If you want to see them on all NINE hard points, look at an Elite Serpentis NPC ship. Same with other ships, I think its the Mordus Phanti, that has 9 rails. :)

Could we also get some variation between different animations? They all look completely identical in the new teaser/trailer thingamajigabob.

Autocannons should have a continuous "ratatatatatata!"
Blasters should go "blowww!"
Railguns should go "pzeww!"
Tachyons should go "zzaaaaaap!"
Pulses should go "pewpewpewpew!"

No, but something is getting close.

The Q for CCP is whether or not the new turrets will work on existing ships or if we will have to wait for them to be re-remodeled such as seen on the new Maller.

Why do we even need ship models then? Let's remodel all ships to be a matte white box, no need for turret or drone models at all. And we might as well rework all the module art to just have the name of the module in text rather than a picture.

In fact, let's just make EVE text entirely!

IIRC, they said that it was a placeholder.

Great, a missile range nerf.

(Missile time spent maneuvering translates into a range nerf.)

Thank you for the link to my video, think I've seen it few times Wink
But it means only that new turrets and nebulas will be deployed in Incarna expansion in the timeframe between June and October just like that happened with Incursion. New turrets now killing Duality and also there was no masstests with them, so obviously they cannot be released in nearest months.
Login screen it's only scene with predefined animation and models, nothing more.

Haha, should have checked your name and put two and two together. Just pointing out that there has been demonstrated progress that a lot of people may not be aware of yet.

The supposed presence of non-turret-module models for ships in the game assets also raises some questions on how these will be applied to ship models. It's not too far a stretch to think that some of the new module geometries will only fit on the re-remodeled ships.

Also, because I'm curious, how did you get that video of the Incarna build login screen?

Why are lasers causing recoil with the new turret models? Did physics change? Nevermind. I forgot, this is EVE, and physics don't have to make sense.

Everything in a game has predefined animation and models. It still takes resources to display that, just as it would playing the game.
