Just a thought.
Was wondering if it was just a straight fight, between only carriers and SC ... how many would it take?

I suppose if there were too few carriers there would come a point where SC could tank the damage ( Neuts aside ). And the SC would slowly eat away at the remaining carriers.

Would anyone have a guess a the numbers?
( I guess you could assume you would have a Amarr SC ). I wonder if the carriers all triange, maybe the SC would take too long to break through tank to swing the odds in its favour.

Assuming they could hold it down (bubble / HIC) I reckon 4-5 archon could, but this is not a sensible test as its not a fight you would often see in eve

I assume you also mean that the Super pilot doesn't pull a logoffski?

Run the numbers, pretty easy when dealing with carriers as they have static damage figures being glorified drone boats and all Smile

~1k dps per carrier and 25M+ Hp to chew through.

SC's do not have active tanks, have yet to see one anyway, RR ***gotry is way too good to even want to consider it.
SC won't be killing any carrier, the order to destroy his fighter bombers will be the first given (massive noob FC not withstanding) ..

In short: You need ~30+ Carriers to kill a SC before logoff timer expires .. if he is faction fit the number goes up a lot.

you forget that in the time it takes to kill the FB you would lose a few carriers

taking in account that fighters from the carriers get hit by the smartbombs of the SC thus lowering the dps

i think you will need a lot :D

Most super carriers today are buffer fit which means that all you need to kill it is dps overcoming the shields natural recharge and plenty time...

Plenty of time is usually denied by logoffing.

You have a 15 minute timeframe to kill it.

And you are forgetting that the combined RR of 30+ capital reps (must assume carriers have at least 1) will easily mitigate any FB damage done.

Smartbombs are an issue only if you start on it immediately without first hitting it with the 120+ (4 per carrier) heavy neuts for a few minutes ..
Since you are already spending the first few minutes killing his dps it works out quite nicely.

The biggest problem is finding a lone SC .. Very Happy

5 carriers can kill SC if they know what they are doing. (no logofski)

tip: rr vs buffer (rr wins)

5 carriers would have a hard time killing a SC the volley dmg of maxed FB's is nasty. Yes RR will have an impact but a well timed burst from the remote ECM burst could ruin a carriers day.
Take into account most carriers are armour tanked the RR doesn't apply as soon as the RR activates coupled with ecm burst and lock time, this may give the bombers just enough time to maybe ruin his day.

Also take into account that the SC pilot may not field a full flight of 20 bombers he may mix in ecm drones which could also tip the fight in his favour, however may not get enough dmg to kill a carrier before the RR gets applied.

RR would play a large part of this fight but for every carrier the SC kills the fight tips more and more in his favour.

Would be fun to find out tho Very Happy
