Star War's has Lego's, Star Trek has Lego's why shouldn't EvE Online have Lego ship's?

I think it would be cool to buy a Lego Incursus and put it together.

The there are the Ertl Snap-Type plastic models that fans could buy and put together to display.

I grew up building with space Lego's and putting various types of airplane, naval ship and sci-fi ship model's together. A plastic model of your favorite ship or NPC ship would make for a great conversation piece with your friends, family or significant other. Man did I have fun building and it kept me quiet something that all parents can appreciate from their child after a long day at work.

What say You New Eden Pilot?

Nothing's stopping you from building your own and making us hate you with cool pics you post. I wouldn't expect to see Official EVE legos in a Target anytime soon though. Licensed lego products are freaking expensive, look how much the Star Wars ones run for. And EVE wouldn't exactly be a familiar subject for the kinds of people roaming around the toy aisles.

But seriously, build some yourself and let us see what you can do.

Personally I hate the idea of "personalized" Legos. The whole point of the lego system is to build anything you wanted with generic pieces

I know someone built a Drake with legos, might be able to find it with eve-search or google, came out pretty bad ass.

Being from Denmark and having been spoon fed Lego since birth I can certainly see why you'd want it.

Luckily for you the company has had to adapt to meet challengers so last I heard one can make ones own design and have the bricks/schematic/box custom made (not all areas though, but US definitely).

Look DesignByMe or LEGO Digital Designer or something along those lines on their website ..

NB: No idea what it costs to have custom jobs made, so do inquire and report back here Very Happy

This is a brilliant idea, i just tested it. You make your design, LEGO produces a box (even with a picture of the model on the box) with the lego bits and a building manual.

You can upload the design on the LEGO's home page, and let others just download it and order it.

Let the LEGO Eve online Starship series begin.

Maybe because

Star Trek was MASSIVLEY popular to millions
Star Wars was massivley popular to millions

EvE Online is popular to a couple fo hundred thousand people who quite frankly disgust me. Maybe because when a stars wars convention happens, its stacked out, when an eve online fan fest happens, lookie loo, there are empty seats.

EvE - dieing - in 5 years this game wont be here. to many new eve like games coming out

star trek was a tv show watched my millions

star wars was a bunch of movies watched by millions

eve is an MMORPG played by thousands

the possible public for a tvshow/movie is way bigger then the public for an online game

and eve is till growing in nummbers

on topic: i would love to see a LEGO titan :)

ps: might be an idea to try and build some ships with the LEGO digital disigner as that gives you all parts and unlimited number of parts :)

That has never stopped merchandising though. Eve Store is filled with knick-knacks of all sorts already .. only question in regards to LEGO is if the company itself is open to the idea.

Problem I see is that a lot of the ships will need quite a lot of bricks (to be identifiable) which makes the sets rather large and thus expensive .. meaning low sales volume.
But if the option was to get a $100 BS model as is available now and a LEGO BS model at the same price, I know which one I'd want (nudge, nudge CCP) Very Happy

i had some fun with the LDD and it takes some getting used to

however i did some googling and found some interesting things including some other topics on the forums here with a bunch of lego models of eve ships and 2 other programs that can be used to make digital lego models

SR3D
MLCAD

find them thou google if you want to try those out
never used them so i have no idea if they are any good

also i will try to get a list of all the LEGO models i can find working links for and put them here (might take some time as i'm in class atm)

Sometimes I have the idea that EVE ships were actually designed with LEGO. Sometimes by 5 year olds.

The Moa comes to mind, when I first saw it I thought it looked like something made from LEGO.

I grew up with Lego too, and now as an AFOL, I've actually thought about building a ship or two from my kids' collection. Actually, take a look at these...

Ships from EVE Online

Not bad. Very Happy

How very modern of you, to want to trample all over your child's happiness just to fulfil you own desires Smile

Tl;dr: Get your own damn bricks! hahahahahaha

NB: Slightly affected by being one of three LEGO maniacs in family growing up with 'some' conflict erupting over the damn plastic Very Happy

Star Trek almost didn't make it after the pilot episode but look what happened after the show became popular.

Star War's came in behind Star Trek and so forth.

Without Star Trek alot of the space related genre of everything before you would never have happened.

I would look for EvE Online to begin to make a leap forward in the market. Star War's is based upon event's that surround real world issues with Osama bin laden killed I would for non-political forms of games and show's such as Star trek and EvE-Online to slowly push Star War's out of the way.

Star War's is exciting and fun and very involved but how many times do the Jedi kill the same two Sith? Same Sith power different bodies nothing more.

The only problem with Creating your own LEGO version of an EvE-Online ship is copyright issues.

LEGO is a franchise as is EvE-Online so getting the two companies two come to an agreement on allowing EvE'rs to send in their LEGO based design's might cause some problem's.

...but the person who get's the ball rolling on the issue of copyright and licensing in order to use LEGO's facilities to reproduce in game version's of EvE Online ship's or modules could see theirself sitting in a very warm and fuzzy place.

I grew up during the pre-illumination period of LEGO building when LEGO's were simple straight edged pieces snapped together.

Technic came out a few years before I graduated High School. I had a few kit's but was unsure of what to do with the kit's as I had been used to straight edged and angular block design.

Even the Technic then were simple. A Pump and some tubing and pieces. Now you can build a Track Ho that actually works just like a real Track Ho works.

I wonder if LEGO is going to venture into Technic Shipbuilding where the LEGO'er can build a ship that is powered by a real motor shaft and propeller to make the ship travel through water...? I see that LEGO is even building a helicopter that flies...But I digress...This could be a good project for the EVE LEGO'er. Design and Develope a LEGO Kit based upon EvE Online ship's present it to both sides for legal matter's and if excepted the design could be seen in stores.

I personally would make each design a limited series to increase their value in LEGONOMICS.

Does anyone have a link to the pre-illuminated LEGO era when the basic block were not as dramatic as they are today?

I can't even find any of the old serie's that I grew up building with...Block On!

A more personalized version of the ship's that were presented by creating rounded and detailed pieces would actually create the appearence of the in game ship.

Nice job though.

Um, Star Trek does not have LEGO's. Paramount denied them the right to produce it.

Fan made stuff doesn't count.
