In a gank situation 1v1 using bait, what is the best ship to use to kill a drake?

Harbinger, armor tank, + dual webs + mwd + long point + conflag/multi once the target is webbed;scorch before its webbed....the drake will die before your cap does...

Or if you really want to get smacky...pulse Apoc :)

....Pulse Apoc? Geddon and Abaddon do it better. Nightmare and Bhaal do it even better.

Shield cane. Standard auto fit.
Replace one of the large sheild extenders with a kinetic hardener, drakes pretty much always fire kinetic.

Close orbit.
Activate 2 neuts, these will kill the drakes invulns as they get to peak recharge.
Pew pew.

Please stop posting. If you're a nano cane and you get within neut range of a HAM drake you need to quit eve. Assuming you get him off gate/station you can just kite him at > 20km and widdle him down. Toe to toe he will **** your face.

It basically works like this:
HAM drake < Nano Cane
HAM drake > Brawling Cane > Brawling Harby
Nano Drake > Nano Cane due to damage projection
Harby > Nano Drake due to damage type and projection
Nano cane has one of the best engagement profiles of any ship due to how guns work + neuts.
Nano harby sucks.

I personally use a dual web nano drake ATM and while I will get curbed stomped by anything BC sized or bigger it fills the big gap in the engagement profile that the standard nano drake has (IE: Small ships)

Eve is to complex to be broken down like this but basically that is it.

Dual rep, 220mm auto Myrm Cool

Even for HAM drake, javelin missiles could chase off Cane before it can break Drake's tank. I'm talking about HAM drake setup without a web though, which can achieve 100,000 EHP.

Drake (even care bear fits) are a hard ship for a Cane or Harbi to take on solo. The Drake can't match the DPS of the two but it can typically out tank them assuming it's not fail fit or piloted by a very low skill player.

Best best is a active tanked Myrm with med AC's other option might be typical Large shield boosted Cyclone that uses the AC/HAM fit. Neither has to worry much about getting neuted by a Drake and both should be able to easily tank the damage. The only question then becomes if you can break the peak recharge on the Drake's tank.

Slaved gank BC will do it easily (provided you have it tackled)

Triple rep myrm, or a slaved cane or harb if you want to fly a BC. Pulse geddon would smoke one as well, but might be hard to keep it pinned down. Well flown drakes are a ***** to kill 1v1.

triple rep myrm, active tanked cyclone. either one will kill a drake.

TBH im pretty sure if u strap a rep on a cane/proph/binger/tix it would kill the drake too. but the above 2 have been tested/confirmed.

2x/3x-rep, cap-boosted, 220mm Myrm

The dps from a lone Drake is negligible in the face of those multiple bonused reps.

Dual 180's, Dual Neuts and a Medium Cap booster. Overheat the neuts. When shield hardener dies (no cap), overheat the guns and boom.

Nano tempest if you need to kill it fast, kinetic-hardened dualrep myrm if you can take your time and want to do it with a same-class ship.

Go up a ship class. Tier 1 BS's will eat a drake pretty quickly. Personaly I prefer torp & neut phoons, but a geddon / domi will do it just as well.

Myrmidon is good choice, people always underestimate it, but it can comfortably tank drakes dps and wear him down.

Neuts help a lot.
If a Drake is bricked with shield power relays then neuts will destroy the tank.
Here's a nice fit:

Medium Energy Neutralizer II

Large Trimark Armor Pump I

Ogre II x5

Press the advantage of bait by getting up close and MWD directly towards the Drake. Heavy neuts should kill 40% of the Drake's cap instantly, and one cycle each of the med neuts should take off 24% of the cap each time 4 of them cycle. Drake will lose 64% of cap instantly. 12 secs later, next med-cycle, he'll be reduced to about 12% cap. 12 secs later, your med and heavy neuts will cycle, taking him to like -50% cap Laughing. At this point, consider turning off one or both of your heavy neuts, and stagger your med neuts.

If the Drake is fitted with a power diag, 2 large extenders and 2 invulns his ehp will be reduced from 108k to 81k.
As you deal thermal damage, his actual ehp will be more like 77.8k.
If your Domi's Ogre IIs deal 475dps, he'll take 162 seconds to kill, 2.7 minutes.

Does this theory-crafting fail? I sort of got carried away, and the Domi-neut idea doesn't seem as good as I had initially thought.

Here's something else.... You may want to replace the autocannons in the high slots with other stuff so you can fit EANMs instead of Adaptive Nano Plating.

Ogre II x5

By creating an exact damage profile of this fit, splitting the Ogre thermal damage from the weapon's EM damage accordingly, the Drake will have about a 90k ehp tank.
1277dps should chew through that in 70 seconds.
Oh yeah, and don't worry about the high-sig torps.
650m sig torp, 560m sig Drake. Once you're using the target painter, the Drake will have 722m sig.

I've been noticing a trend (for a while now). Instead of building a setup around exploiting weaknesses and taking advantages of strengths, people just throw ridiculous amounts of ISK at the problem.

And somehow it makes them cool. Rolling Eyes

The Drake is basically the best T1 battlecruiser in the game. Not sure why people are telling you to use other T1 battlecruisers. The guy telling yo to use the Dominix is right on. Almost any PvP battleship fit properly would do, assuming you are not using T2 or T3 ships. The Sleipner, Absolution and all 4 Strategic Cruisers will easily kill a drake.

I would go with the Raven, Maelstrom, Abbadon or Armageddon personally. The Raven with EMP torpedoes is probably the best T1 Drake killer in the game, since the Drake has a sig radius that rivals the largest shield tanked battleship.

The four kinds of Drake pilots who will 1v1 your PvP BS/T2/T3
1. The idiots, in which case most anything will work
2. The bait Drake
3. The ones with the Falcon alts
4. The ones with specialty setups/implants and lots of experience and SP

People saying "use another T1 BC" are on the money.

Myself and a corpie have been playing around, and the only time I had him in my Harby was when he didn't load long range ammo and I manage to kite him with scorch.. not easily done though as a harby with a MWD has some serious cap issues. A geddon worked like a charm though :)
I just had a thought, while typing this... if you put a rocket launcher with defenders on a cane would it help??? something worth testing

To save you the time--"no". However, I encourage you to test it just to see for yourself. Defenders, in their current state, are pretty useless, except against long-range missiles.

Killing drakes is fun with an Abaddon and heavy neut drones.
