I have a Gallente character that is training drone skills pretty high, and I mission run with him because hey, it's kind of nice seeing 5 drone minions MWD up to an NPC and rip it a new one. I have a small remote armor and hull rep on the ship in case one of the drones gets pinged.

However, it takes an absurd amount of time for me to lock one of my own drones because hey, it's drone sized and I'm in a Battlecruiser. Game physics, makes sense.

What I don't understand is why I even have to lock my drones in order to repair them, or why it takes so long for ME to lock MY drones. My ship has some sort of link established with my drones already because I'm controlling them and my ship is providing the control range...thing. And if the ship is out of the grid, I lose drone control. Obviously, the drones and my ship are communicating in several ways.

Is there some reason that I just haven't seen yet as to why this game mechanic is like it is? Is there some abuse problem I'm not aware of?

I don't mean to come off as complaining, "Boo hoo I have to wait 10 seconds to lock my drones cry cry" it just seems silly considering that without my ship already linked to the drones somehow anyway, the drones wouldn't do anything in the first place.

No not until supercarriers are changed.

Imagine a super carrier repairing its fighter bombers while they were being attacked? It would be a full fleet including dps, triage comparable rr, and a massive tank on the only ship you actually can kill.

not just caps...it be be the smaller drone boats as well. Vexor pulls some guns for reps, be a hard ship to tackle or solo.
