So, can someone help me shoot down this plan.

I plan to park a carrier in a holder alt in some system relatively close to a 0.0 ratting hub. Then us a high DPS ganking ship such as a Loki or something else appropriate and gank targets in that system. Is this as fun as it sounds in my head? And assuming a certain degree of competency on my part, will this work?

If you bring a carrier on grid it can and will be hotdropped by supers.

I think OP means to use carrier as a sort of "Mobile Station".

If thats the case remember to pack fuel and go back to losec to refuel regularly.

Pack a dramiel fitted for speed and use your main overnight to hopefully create a deep safe. Preferrably out of dscan range .. that way you can plug ganglinks on the carrier for extra tankage on Loki. ( This is assuminig your alt can use ganglinks)

I've seen people do something similar with Orcas in highsec during wardecs using neutral alts. I dont see why it cant be done with carriers in null.

1. Cyno carrier into ratting 0.0 system on off time. Bring supplies, fuel, and ships. Cloak in safespot.
2. Use cloaky gank ship on main to wreck havoc.
3. ?????????
4. Profit.

Deep safes are no longer possible.

This is total garbage and tells me you don't have a clue what you're on about.

Lets take a dramiel doing 10km/sec for example and run it for 23.5 hours :

10(km) x 23.5(hours) x 60(mins) x 60(seconds) = 846,000km

That's 0.005AU.

Hell run it at 1000km/sec for 23.5 hours and its still only 0.5AU. Edit - you would in fact have to get the Dramiel moving at more than 25,000km/sec to get close to dscan limit inside a day.

You don't unless your old ones were ****e (<100AU).

Agreed completely, I wish you luck. Save for the Dramiel safespot, use a cloak on your carrier. Be smart about your safes, in some systems they are hard to get but you can sneak your way between celestials out of D-scan, pick your safes wisely and remember anomallies are spawned at random grid coordinates mostly with in 8 AU of a celestial, get creative.

No safe can be more than 15au from a celestial by CCPs definiton of that. If your old safe was further than that, then it got moved with a patch some time ago, and if it isn't then your have a bug or are exploiting.

That being said 14.35 AU is the max dscan range, if your goal is as the one poster suggested a safe outside of dscan range that is ceartainly possible, however it will not be far out of dscan range. And people may still be able to dscan you from mission or PI launch bookmarks.

But still there seems to be no reason to over uncloak your carrier unless you need to change ships. Just use it as a cloaking POS that can cyno. Just never cyno in or out with people in local, and I would suggest not to chage ships with other people in local either.

Not quite, but close.

You can bookmark a safe that is less than 20AU plus the distance of the furthest celestial/structure from the star.

An example works best :

If the furthest planet from the sun is 25AU, then you can bookmark a safe anywhere within 45AU (25+20AU) of the star. You can travel further outside that 45AU sphere but you can't have a bookmark further out than 45AU.

All existing safes beyond that range got moved inwards directly towards the star until they were just inside the new limit.

Its still possible to get unscannable safes in lo sec. Especially from missions. Possible to get in null from sites, but it depends on your probing skills.

And the whole flying a dramiel over night thing... It was a generalized idea to demonstrate what is possible.

As for uncloaking a carrier to turn on ganglink, as I understand it the OP was looking for a mobile gank station. It makes sense to uncloak once target has been probed. Change ships and warp to/kill target while carrier has ganglinks on.

After that warp back to carrier, remote rep as needed and switch back to cloaky prober. Than recloak both.

9 times out of ten you will be able to execute this plan without a problem as I doubt OP would engage more than 2 targets. (Personally I think 1 target and/if its in a a killable ship)

Othersie stayed cloaked till situation is better.

Somehow, especially in 0.0 I highly doubt that people, if they see 1/2 neutral in their ratting system attacking their ratting ship, are gonna let you continue this. They will very likely, put a bait ship somewhere and have 4 or 5 people ready to warp to it as soon as you attack.

They might not get your carrier at first time because they will be busy trying to take your gank ship down but sooner or later they gonna ask themselves why when you gank 1 ship, there is always another neutral in local

If shooting ducks in a shooting gallery at the amusement park is as fun for you as suburban fire fight with the neighbouring gang then yes, excellent plan.

In short: Shooting ratters is PvE. Do you want to be a carebear? Twisted Evil

Yes of course it is but they are NOT deep safes. Deep safes are (were) hundreds of AU away from a celestial, usually well off the ecliptic.

They were called "deep safes" because not even a deep space probe could see a signal on a max range scan without moving the probe around a lot AND getting lucky.

The point of them was so you could cyno in a fleet and be sure everyone was into system and grid loaded - one of my deep safes would take a battleship 6 minutes to warp to it, even if they could find the deep safe (obviously they'll see the cyno on overview but you'd be surprised how often it gets missed).

Anyway they don't exist now - unfortunately the reasons that people created them in the first place still exist and probably always will.

tl;dr you've misunderstood what a "deep safe" is/was.

Havak,

Yes, the plan is feasible. The onyl true time that your Carrier is going to be at risk is the initial cyno in to the close by system. My suggestion is to have a cyno alt create a ss. Then Cyno in the Carrier during inactive hours. Warp the Carrier immediatly so the SS and cloak up the Carrier. Assuming you are going to have an alt be in the Carrier at all times and it will serve as a mobile station so to speak the plan is very feasible. Your initial cyno in is going to be the only true time that your carrier will be at risk. Good luck.

new deep safes are incursions, those things hae 100au becons bm all the incursion sites wait for em to moveo n and use in future. Totally unscannable making it safe in low sec for small gangs to clear the incursions another ccp bright idea for saftley
