I have a feeling CCP did not expect the pitchforks in this instance.

Nah, same as every year.

Just to be clear - this isn't within IC's remit and we have no plans to do it.

I was more wondering whether or not the devs would have a fit about it and kick you guys off the IC team or if you would be allowed a sensible measure of tolerance for taking the initiative and supplying content to the players that they wish to see.

Edit:Fail alt is fail!!

Always having some complaints each year does not change whether this year has been significantly worse than previous & expectations or not.

I'm pretty sure that person understands it miles better than you :)

Enjoy the tournament.

I'd like to enjoy the tournament but you chose not to show me the tournament. Stop being defensive and self-assured, and get someone out there with a roving camera, post the result anonymously and without commentary to a free video site. Then you'd be a hero soundwave.

And what would you see then?

10 ships shooting at each other from 100 km away or so. Yeah ... interesting ... not!

You wouldn't see any shields/armor/structure, you wouldn't see which side each ship belongs to, you wouldn't see anything at all.

If you move someone in, closer, then there is a danger of interference. So you can't send just some random dude but a trustworthy person ... yeah, soooo easy to find within the EVE players... not.

To see what is going on, you would need to set standings to each team (red, blue etc.), that alone is quite some work. Then you would want to target and lock the combatants to see shields and armours, then you need to have a GM watch over the recording person that no interference happens (ecm, whatever) and so on ... but yeah, all is for free and budget is something completely irrelevant.

I can understand that CCP doesn't have the resources at the moment to cover the pre-qualifying rounds. A pity, but it is as it is. We can be glad that have a coverage of the final two weekends - which is just awesome. Though that's not enough Razz

But maybe they can give the ISD reporters some more tools next year. Those folks are already doing a fantastic job with their AT9 website, the twitter feed and reporting from the match near live. And since they are ISD, they can be trusted to a certain degree more than regular players. And they are highly motivated already, being volunteers and all.

So, maybe CCP can think about more tools for them next time (if they can cope with additional workload). This way the players win (video recordings) and CCP wins also (almost no additional costs).

Honestly, why are you then parading the news and info on this AT?

Either get them frapsed and uploaded, cheap but watchable way. Or just "present us" with whats left when those "magic" 2 weeks arrive. Because there is absolutely no reason to present any details, any fancy web page info when we can get all that from killboards.

Honestly, i would rather have all AT on you-tube or similar, and no commentary, no odd expensive sets and so on, even for finals. Reason is, in the end its the GAME were interested in, not how some comments fly from people being payed to talk nonsense. Do you really think that many would watch football or any other sport, if they could just randomly see some teams in semi finals and final? Or even more watch these sports because of the commentary booths?

Sacrifice something u can spare, and get the fraps sorted, for us that are suppose to watch and care about it.

I guess you haven't read about the player streams that everyone is appreciative over and enjoying. That seems to be enough for most people. Also, you do know ccp is already recording all the matches, but chose not to put them up. They are using the footage for clips during the finals weekends.

In case you don't get it. We are trying to but it's made a bit hard when you don't air the fights.

They're too busy trying to strive for 'excellence' and checking if they can make profits off the AT as an arena sport. One of the markets the MMO-industry is looking quite hard at atm.

I guess that's what Soundwave mean with the 'we know better than you' comments as well. They believe throwing up low-qual streams will reduce outside interest in the potential arena sport, so it needs comments, production, and possibly a studio.

Players who actually play this game, and want to see how their friends/enemies perform is irrelevant in this concept, they already got our isk, they need others. Razz

HI i fought in the first round for lack of imagination, and am very dissapointed that the matches are not beeing shown i think ccp have made a huge mistake, these tourds are for everybody not just the teams that have entered it is a great tool for recruiting new members and showing what can be done in the game. Sorry CCP but this is a bad showing and there are no excuses, please rethink for nextweekend.

What about letting a few willing people stream/record the AT for everyone else to enjoy.

Just give them temporary accounts / passwords and make them stuck in space in a cloaked ship that cant move 150km off the central beacon with a full mute for local/channels.

Costs nothing and gives free viewing for the people who want to watch without having to worry about content as they aren't doing it for you.

What about ISD...last time they had a nice page with statistics and short game description... Personally I would appreciate something similar this year.

ugh

Oh look how it used to be with AT1-7, and how I've kept up to date this whole tournament.

Soundwave, thanks for at least responding. I understand it is too late to offer a broadcast for the matches this year. I think all anyone is

asking is for next year to broadcast the entire set of matches. The consensus seems to be that the actual sporting event ought to be the priority over the

shiny studio production which is just fluff -- you know, tournament cat and the CCP insider commentators rubbing baby oil over each other sprinkled with a

healthy dose of a lame discussion of basic eve mechanics. Rolling Eyes It is the broadcast of the matches themselves that are the star of the show.

Our frustration is that just like in game, CCP focuses on bling while the important stuff is ignored.
