and every new ship added to the game post launch has been put straight into the MT store. Including ships that arent just skins (IE ones with abilities other ships dont have such as cloaks and stuff)

theyre trying for a free to play model while having a monthly fee. Its like the system they did at DDO PLUS a monthly fee lol

DDO is a great free to play model

According to mmodata.net on this graph here it really doesn't look a million+ users. Care to back up your statement with something?

For a fun look at what micro transactions does do to your game, refer to Star Trek Online user numbers.

You are all fools if you think MTs will stick to vanity items only.

Buying a new paint job for a whole PLEX is ridiculous, yea I'm gonna spend 370 mil to paint a ship that costs maybe 7 million fully fit.

A paint job should be scalar with ship material cost and size and no where near approach millions of ISK. I would pay PLEX for facial reconstruction/sex change/race change/bloodline and whatever change.

But even then a PLEX seems a steep price. In terms of cost a neural remap seems a fair exchange, but it inherently then gives players with access to either a lot of RL money or in game currency an inherent advantage.

It's a tricky situation once you start heading down this path and I really don't wanna touch it. I will pass my thoughts on this to others who care more about it than I do.

Might be worth it, if your plex enables x faction's paint scheme for any applicable ships you own.

True, but to many people 370 mil is still a lot of ISK to just throw around and it would leave them out of a nice new feature.

There are many players with lots of disposable isk, and a plex is not really so expensive that any competent high sec mission farmer cannot farm in a reasonable amount of time.

I agree it is not so much and for people like myself or you it is not a big deal. But my thing is that a Paint job is a visual thing, which makes it readily marketable and something which you use to grab peoples attention. You don't wanna say to new players "oh look at these cool paint schemes, oh they are so cool", then make them work for it. Just saying that would **** a lot of newbies off

On the contrary, it gives them something to aspire to.

we are gonna go all night huh? lol

I honestly, just can't see a realistic scenario where CCP will offer PLEX for a paint scheme, unless that scheme has neon lights rocked out with spinner rims and head rest tv's blasting out high quality p.o.r.n

noo that i wouldnt pay for.

mts need to be purely cosmetic not give a real advantage to people with lots of money.

you want a toon thats properly specced...start a new toon and spec it :-)

Buying plex for real money and selling it for isk. This is already extreme advantage!!! :)

I would pay good money, say 20 USD to get 100 macroes permanently banned.

100 accounts would bring CCP more money than your 20USD, so it's not likely to happen.

That sucks, let's feel sorry for all 7 people that still play that game.

As for a realistic example, lets look at DDO, which is thriving under a microtransaction/subscription model and it still doing great. It went from dead to a million+ players, which is great for a game that was as crappily done as it was.

Just because some games have elves and wizards in them, it doesn't follow that all games should have them.

Likewise, just because some games use microtransactions, it doesn't follow that all games should use them.

I don't know if you've read all the blogs but the plan was that you'll be able to pay for microtransactions with mu-plex, being parts of a plex.

Let's say one plex breaks down into 100 mu-plex. A paint job would cost 10 mu-plex. A new set of clothes could be 3 mu-plex. A pet for your CQ would be 5 mu-plex. Getting a jumpclone of another bloodline would be 50 mu-plex.

And so on. they don't calculate in full plexes.

Reading this thread makes me feel sick ugh

How can so many people look at microtransactions as if it was a good thing? Sad

I always wondered why people see buying characters for ISK for rl money as a good thing. Or the plex thing at all.

Personally I donīt mind paying parts of a plex for vanity items like uniforms, shoes or a cat. Better to have it for plex than not at all.

I'd rather not have it at all than an increase in microtransactions.

Well personally I deperately need some small fun fuzzy vanity things and not more spreadsheets.

I would love to see ship paint jobs/decals available in game in order to make ships unique. It will allow us to be creative and not just see hundreds of ships that look the same.

Whether we have to pay a fee for this service is up to CCP. I just wonder if it will add load on the servers or our clients....

Fair point.

But I personally love the idea that when I punch a baby, I'm punching it right in the ****ing wallet.
When that killmail comes in and it says "ORE Customized Mining Upgrade" ($6) I'll be arcing ropes all over the place.
