I need to vent.

My wife HATES me playing EVE at anytime of any day or night.
Am I alone here? WTF!? Housework would be done, QT with family complete, and she could even be asleep in bed... and she still gets ****ed. My God Man!

So how do you fellow institutionalized (married) Pilots handle Wife Aggro?

Thanks

Does she have sex with you more than once a week? If so I'll trade you mine. Mine would rather I play video games than chase her around the house all the time :P

Oh yeah... Our sex life is great. But heck, I'm to the point where I'd rather rub one out and be able to play EVE, lol!!

She needs to get over herself and learn some boundaries. It's something you like; you don't go ****ing and moaning to her about something she likes, do you?

Again, this is something more deeply rooted than Eve...she has no respect for you or your interests.

My wife's a gamer too but we both have our own lives as well. We respect each other's space and interests and support each other. That's what a marriage is about, not about criticizing someone for a harmless video game.

If she can't understand that, it's going to get worse. Get out now.

It's like that in a lot of things, EVE is just the current excuse :) .

My ex (who is my ex for a lot of reasons, but eve didn't help) had her own things to do and God forbid you interupt HER when she was having her "me" time, but also God Forbid if YOU wanted to do something on your own when she wasn't occupied. Jealousy and selfishness are pretty much genetic traits for many women lol.

My current wife doesn't like my hobby either, but so far she has the sense to give me some space, in trade for having me at her complete command all the rest of the time lol.

You have a woman that deams anything you do that doesn't include her as "a waste of time". And therefore there is nothing you can do but take your pants back, put them on, get the jar that you put your manhood in when you married her off the fireplace mantle and put her in her place......in the kitchen and barefoot, pregnant or not.

I don't usually have a problem with my wife. We pretty much respect that we are both individuals. She has no problem with me gatecamping the bedroom door and scramming her when she comes through ;)

Sounds just like the same high-maintenance, desperately insecure and selfish spouse I divorced.

EvE is not the problem.

Best of luck.

I put my foot down and say "Woman this time is my man time... Leave my space..." She gives me the evil look that could cut you in half.. She leaves me to so I can have my time.. Then I have to make up that time later... I'll leave that to your imagination.

I play a dangerous game and it isn't eve... I rather get podded in nullsec than **** off my wife too long Twisted Evil Razz I can't clone myself in RL hahahaa...Laughing

Give her the same aggro whenever she watches crappy soap operas or spends hours trailing around shops. Do that for a couple of weeks to see if she gets the point. If she doesn't then you could politely discuss the issue with her. Is she really that jealous of your attention that she feels threatened by a video game hobby?

You are quite the charmer I can tell.

Here's a better tip. Leave the PC off. Prepare a romantic dinner, candles, wine the works.

When she's feeling all warm and gooey and you can restrain yourself from using your using your usual foreplay line, "Aren't you wet yet?!?" slowly move up the nape of neck with the lightest of caressing kisses.

When you are finally up to her ear and she is softly sighing on the verge of a moan, just give her the ever most slightest nibble on the ear lobe.

And THEN in the quietest, romantic voice you can muster (I'm sure a challenge for you but you have to try) just whisper into her ear...

"Baby, I want you to be my ore whor3"

If that doesn't get her hooked onto EVE, nothing will.

I told my wife before I marry her. If you marry me you marry EVE Online. She thought I was joking then she learned I wasn't joking at all.

Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do what you enjoy in life because they are drag on your happiness.

I feel your pain, I have same problem. My wife hates EVE with a passion. She's even threatened to dump a glass of water on my desktop. I told her that's grounds for Divorce is that happens! Your not alone.

I bought her a lifetime membership of LOTRO Laughing

That's lasted about 4 years now - think she's finally getting bored of it (I got bored of it inside 4 weeks but I earned her enough money for two years in that time - crashing the market is trivial to do).

She can't nag me if she's spending hours playing games Wink

Told mine that also. She has "tune out everything I don't want to hear" trained to 6 (not 5, 6, I think she hax).

lol, i've actually tried this! but i couldn't find anything! my wife's only outlet for downtime is spending time with me and cleaning, even if everything is spotless, she will find something! she doesn't play games. doesn't chat online. doesn't read novels. doesn't hang out with friends all that much (kids). ... so if i work late a couple of days the next couple of days are spent making up for all of the "we never see you/why do you ignore us" crap and the next thing i know its been a week since i played eve last. ...

about the only time i get for my eve activities anymore is the morning (now) after she goes to work and before i do. but since that is all of an hour i can't really accomplish much in game, thus usually end up just trolling the forums.

i say we invent hi-powered rockets to slow the earth;s rotation and give us say 30 hours a day. then, we would have time for work, play and family.... until work decides 14hour days are the minimum, at least....

The only way she would be in the right is if you're neglecting your husbandly/fatherly duties in other places. If you don't help around the house, cook, take care of the kids, etc. and you're playing Eve all the time, you're wrong.

I'm married but to a one-in-a-million woman who not only respects all my endeavors and hobbies (I play in two bands, play video games, love dogs, etc.), she tries to get involved so we can do things together. I got her started on WoW years ago when I started playing and she's been playing ever since. I've since left that game in order to join Eve a little over a year ago, but she continues with WoW and tells me all about what's going on in her guild, the game, etc. and I talk about Eve to her. She also plays classical and folk violin and goes around with a troupe here playing parties and festivals here in northern Italy. It gets really old hearing the same songs played all the time, but I support her and help her out just as she supports me with both my bands.

Like I said, these are just a few examples of how a marriage should work. I now realize that if for some strange reason we split up, I know I'd never find another woman like her; someone who literally feels like my other half. I would just stay single for the rest of my life. You're a team and if you're not playing like a team, then someone's being too selfish. My guess is it's not you, and if you don't do something about it now, it's only going to get worse.

2 phases:

(1) explain the real world value of the items in eve (currency - GTC - ISK for conversion rates) "hell, if i dont finish this and get docked its going to cost us 50."

(2) put long skills on. All the time that you would be playing EvE at present glue yourself to the missus. Make her realise she enjoys the time she gets when you play eve, for example if there is a tv show she really likes make sure you are there saying "well i stopped playing EvE (which is like my tv show) so we could have this quality time together and your just sat there watching tv."

Sounds like she fears what she does not understand! I'd say she just feels threatened that would you rather spend any time at all with a computer game over her. Maybe just try to explain to her it's a hobby, like a sport, it helps you unwind or whatever.
