RP wise, if they dont add a new shiney device to save your ass in stations, out of pod = dead for good.

I thought so. But why would I then ever risk leaving my pod? For ISK, LOL, NO WAY!

Perhaps that will be close to the truth.
Maybe there is no clone grades. a guaranteed loss of 1M skillpoints on OOP deaths.
with the risk for a few mill?

With RP, they're "inventing a new technology" to let the dusters die and respawn. I'd say it'd be applied to the gods of the EVE universe sometime before it gets applied to the little grunts.

With the rate of R&D advancement in the EVE universe, it's easy to imagine an implant being invented that can duplicate the consciousness-link functionality of current pod technology over short distances.

If current game mechanics show any indications, to leave your POD you will have to separate the capsule from your current ship, and end/pause your training program, like you would in preparation for a clone jump. Instead of performing the jump, you would then open the capsule and exit into your CQ. Sensors implanted in your body monitor you for life signs while you are in station. It will be questionable if you can continue to train skills while separate from the capsule since the skill records are maintained in the capsule for transfer to a waiting med clone in the event of death.

I would say that it would make the most sense, and be best understood game wise, if no skills can be trained until you return to the capsule, and if you die in station your med clone will be activated with the record existing at the time you exited the capsule.

Why would I then want to be in my CQ? I can't do anything there that I can't already do from the ship, or?

That's a question for CCP, and those who want to play space barbie...
I don't see myself using the feature, I would rather be camping a gate.

This all makes great sense except when you consider how emo people get about losing even 30 seconds training time when clone jumping, or god forbid, if a patch overruns and they lose a few hours. If ccp actually want people to go into stations (for whatever reason I've not quite figured out yet) then they will need to provide continuity, and whether its via a hard light hologram (as per Rimmer in Red Dwarf) a mobile "soul recorder" or local pod range enhancements they will need to do that, or it's not going to be much of a test bed for "World of Gothic Vampire Babes and Scary Hairy Werewolves" or whatever the next game will be.

I am sure that when they add "Shooting in stations", someone in the Eve universe will also conveniently invent a micro neural snapshot device that you can install directly into your BRAIN as an implant or something. (like the ones installed in pods).

Just you wait.

Called it!

You will actually carry a "mini-pod" in your pocket which will result in a lot of people responding "I'm also happy to see you."
