eve has enough pve content, pve is not interesting, pve is there to make you isk to do **** that is supposed to be interesting. Roaming 50 jumps to kill a few ratters who can't put up a fight and get blobbed by a gang 10x your size is not interesting. make a eve arena, where people can enter into 1v1s 5v5s 10v10s or whatever, and be able to select rules that limit either mods/imps or whatever that can easely be checked automatically server side. Make tournament style pvp to the masses, introduce some storyline mods that are rewarded to the top contenders. enable gambling and let spectators bid on players/teams and win isk. This will be much much interesting than the incursion rubbish that was released.

I wholeheartedly agree, on the condition that it is not instanced, anyone can interfere and kill the contenders, the mod banning rules are not enforced and all of your other ideas are also not included.

if you want make both hisec and low/0.0 sites, and move matched teams to a probable deadspace site. it's not so much mod banning, the players can choose what they want/don't involved and get matched with other people with the same idea, not everyone can afford/want to pvp with officer mods/pirate implants. also, whats wrong with the gambling part? this idea will go alot bigger if you give both pvp'er and non pvp'ers a chance to make money off it. the whole idea is to be able to logon, and in 10min you can get a fair fight with no blueballs and possibly even make some isk doing it.

join/form alliance...sign up for alliance tourney, win tourney....profit. Average sale price of prize ship has been 20 bil.

Actually I'd recommend coming in 2nd place...always seems like the 2nd place goes for more isk lol.

This pops up quite often, I would really enjoy an arena style system, probably that what you lose in arena you also lose in the normal game. But I doubt it will ever happen, quite some vocal group against it (although i never saw their arguments go further than gb2wow and that it is a bad idea because people would do it instead of gatecamping somewhere, so their arguments comes down to people would enjoy it).

i honestly dont see whats wrong with this idea

i'd make afew changes personally though - basically arenas would only be in 0.5 - 0.7 systems (not all of them just afew around main mission running hubs) accessible via a station agent - diffent rules matches accepted essentially as a mission requirement

each team member accepts the mission once enough people ready the mission goes live and the warp in point given - on arrival at that point you effectively have permissions to shoot each other

mission reward comes from a collateral you pay to the agent for the mission - winning side takes all - collateral is based on the rules - if you bring frigs then its not much if you bring t3 or t2 bs then its large

site is scannable out so interlopers can come in but they would be subject to concord so could only suicide attack and the sites would be relatively hard to find so you wont getting in within the first couple of mins at least - so still potential to have things messed up if people really wanna be sneaky - remote repping of ships in the arena by interlopers would also enduce concord responce otherwise cheating would become rampant

otherwise workable idea to bring pvp in a controled easy to access way to the masses of high sec players anda revival of small gang warfare - cant argue with that - and also good for people with only limited time for fun - think most people would agree large fleet battles can take a while to organise - this you turn up with your corp mates get a mission site head off there and meet a fleet of same numbers in comparible ships for a quick fight

another thought-
the sites would have to be gated with multiple gates and rooms so you could retreat reform regroup etc - perhaps with static bubbles in places etc so you can take advantage of the terrain as it were - perhaps rather than gates you could have warpable beacons through the system and partisipents of the can fight freely at any of the beacon sites - damn it sounds more fun the more i think about it

Having a pvp arena which allows betting brings a new twist to pvp.

1) It makes pvp consentual and neither target can run away
2) Having both combatants place say 10m wages on the fight for a prize pot
3) External betting brings a new twist to making isk
4) There can be taxes on the winnings thereofre creating an isk sink

There would need to be only a few arenas. To make it more intersting nad make others move to low sec space the arenas could be based in low sec only therefore making them slightly illegal so the empires can maintain their positive influence.

I've read many threads on this subject and I have to say I love this implementation more than all the other put together.

Nothing to add, nothing to remove, this is just great. Smile

EVE is called a Sandbox for a reason. People can personally host events just like these. You just need to mingle with the player base a bit and organise it, or find out about pre-existing "Arenas" etc. CCP doesn't need to develop what can already be done.

You haven't really thought about this too much have you...
Let me make this easy for you:

1. See your friend in an Arena fight
2. Bet a huge amount against him (supprise, he throws the fight)
3...
4. Profit.

I'm inclined to agree with most people here, joint RvB or set up your own arena event in a quiet system.

If I want wow like arenas, I want them to be as a ingame game. And I would like to be it totally different from eve itself.

How about a dogfight game to have fun on a station, there you can have your arena. Just like that board game they are going to implement with incarna.

There are 3 arenas for PVP content. The 3 arenas are, in order of most like WOW to least like WOW:

EVE Singularity Server: There is one system in the EVE universe on this server where everyone gathers and blows eachother up. You can 1 v 1, 2 v 2, fight frigs, cruisers, BCs, etc etc etc.
Null Sec: Alot of big fights are planned, sometimes by one party, sometimes by both parties. Either way, it is an arena in which to fight.
Low Sec: Arena only in the sense that if you go to low sec, you can expect a fight, or if you're defenseless, get blowed up :)

Posted - 2011.03.31 19:57:00 - [22]

This has been suggested many times but will never happen. Why? It will make low and null sec almost entirely empty. Instead of camping a gate or scanning for 30 minutes pvpers will simply go the arena where they can find a match almost instantly. People like me, who like the idea of the fact you can be attacked anywhere at any time will not like this update as everyone who wants to blow stuff up will go the the arena.

Plus I find PVE interesting. You see cool environments, listen to great music that can't be accessed via the jukebox and you get to take on scenarios that will never happen in PVP engagements. Although I do think that CCP has to do more with PVP, PVE should not be completely ignored.

Why? There's already arenas.

Why does CCP have to set it up? I mean, they already do. Look at the tournaments they've set up, they even award unique ships.

I seem to remember EVE-Radio setting them up on occasion, too.

I've played in RvB, which is pretty much a on-going arena that tries to keep fights fairly fair.

Problem isn't the lack of sanctioned arenas, it's the guy looking in the wrong places.

no 0.0 wont be empty - the arena is never gonna make you rich - even if your side wins since your facing a similar group chances are your gonna take more losses than the winnings (in my proposed system anyway) sov in 0.0 will still need defending etc - as for roaming gangs - the do one of 2 things

gank the unsuspecting - meaning they are out to grief people that dont wanna fight - so nothing like the arenas

or fight other gangs - usually after god only knows how long flying around looking for a suitable fight - arenas would simply speed this process up and probably not much since as i suggested they would only be availble in high sec space so would take time to get too get a fight - get to fight location - either way wether they spend time looking for said fight or go where they know they will find one is irrelevant

and as noted would return small gang pvp to the game - no arena agent would ever offer up a 1000 vs 1000 fleet battle absolute max should be 10 players and if you want to add some uncertainty to the system have the arenas themselves in low sec but then i would say the sites would have to be unscanable so neutral remote reppers can totaly ruin things but you would still have to get to the mission site intact - but personally i think that would spoil it since the other side might end up not getting the fight

no reason this has to negatively affect any aspect of the game while giving us something new and fun - sure some people would leave 0.0 move to high sec and do these, me included but not those with their empires and those that like the comfort of enough allies on grid to shatter the node and kill hampsters

as for people saying you can do this now - yeah i suppose you can but when you on finding an equal gang that wants a fair fight is NOT easy - ok fair fight might not be what your looking for but personally i think evenly matched fleets are the most fun engagements BY FAR - and simply no 24/7 365 organised thing going - if there are organised thing like this they are relatively few and far between and not everybody hears of them

only people that i can think of that would object to this are gankers but as i said they can still do that as the number of people able to use this to actually make money would be few and far between

I was trying to find out what is so funny about the incessant arena crap. After a few 10 or 15 threads like this, it just gets stupid.
