so i have been wasting some time on making a mod for one of my favorite old games, EVE based. i plan to eventually make all the ships from caldari i can fit on the engine as well then add gallente ships and make a "gallente caldari" war TC on HW1, if any of you would like to help with the mod or want to get a hold of the few i have done so far, feel free to pm me, some screenshots of what i have done so far:

ships completed:
Currently i m using the very same stats i get from EFT lvl 5 char with the fittings here stated, but making turret ships fire at half ROF due to the models i use for the game having all the turrets working hence having twice the actual ammount of guns, looks rather nice in game)
Drake --> Missile destroyer (using EHP tank + AB + Heavy launchers 3 BCU fitting)
Ferox --> Standard destroyer (EHP tank + AB + T2 250mm railguns fitting, 3 mag field stabs)
Rokh --> Heavy cruiser (BLASTEROKH with AB + EHP TANK)
Wyvern --> Mothership (3energy neuts, remote ECM burst, 1 smartbomb, etc etc)
Condor --> Light Scout (2 rocket launcher, ab, invul, BCU, 2 shield extenders rigs, 1 em hardener rig)
Merlin --> incterceptor (2 rocket launchers, 2 blasters, 1 mag field stab, 1 BCU, mid shield extender, ...)
Manticore --> Attack bomber (still gotta find the proper paintjob) cannot cloak yet(pending source mod)

BTW ISK donations are accepted to encourage me to complete the mod (the time i use to make plex to keep playing i m using it on the mod currently)

CCP has given already permission to use their ship models where credit is given, and there is even a sanctioned tool here on the forums used to extract the models.

this is not the first mod of eve online in another engine, there was one for homeworld 2 made by another player too, unfortunately it died.

Do you have the original source? They released it too. Trouble is, the graphics on that game look so crappy these days! When it first came out it was pretty awesome.

I think Homeworld was a fantastic game, I was only a kid when it came out, but it was really what got me hooked on spaceship games. It might just be the reason I started playing Eve even, impressive if you can get a working mod for it.

i m the one making this mod so certainly i have the sources, i m remaking the models by myself given EVE models cannot be imported into hw1 (the polis break the game) and yeah teh graphics arenīt top of the line but nothing a few reg edits here and there wont fix along with some enhancements from the graphics cards software (you know force antialiasing and stuff can make things look nice) also will upgrade to the best of my skills the hw1 graphics, as long the engine dosnt breaks, i decided to use the Hw1 engine due to the fact unlike HW2 it actually really uses the physics for shoots and movement, and because being so low on resource requirements anyone could use the mod, and can have multi hundred ship fights without lag.

There was a time when your trolling, Miilla (or is it Masternerdguy?), was rather original, however I think it is about time you move on to doing something productive with your time instead.

From what I see, the work done to Freespace 2 after the source was released resulted in some very impressive stuff, I would not be surprised if the same could be done to HW1.

I have no proof that Miilla is MNG, but they do sound very much alike, and troll in very much the same fashion. Regardless of what the case is, just ignore the trolls, feeding them is what makes them keep going.

the problem is the source for HW1 is made mostly of spaguetty code... its a pain to edit, and i suck at engine and source edits, so i stick whenever possible to editing the data, models, and stuff i know how to handle properly, and certainly, i love freespace 2 open source, wish there was a mod of eve online for that engine too, would love to fly a jaguar and bring the pain there.

Yea I am surprised that has not happened actually, there are so many other mods (Star Trek, Battlestar and what not) that Eve really should have a natural place there.

hehe id much rather prefer amarr v matari war XD

and to support the HW1 style of harvester that uses a suction beam thingy (and only one universal one) maybe you could make everyone's harvesters procurers XD...unless you can figure out how to make it support multiple collection beams

also do you think you can make the same kinda of hyperspace build mechanic like HW2 had? cause i dont think a Chimera will fit coming out of a Wyvern...or a Thanny from a Nyx

and anything bigger then cruiser should be only buildable from the SCs, just so we get the same feel ^^

id like to offer my help as i did have some experience with MissionMan a LONG time ago (we talking predating middle school here) and once tried to make my own EVE RTS from scratch (i actually was able to make my own physics engine somewhat mimic the movement of an abaddon, but i concluded it was much too big a project for me alone and my limited knowledge)

hehe....i can already see the domi now...using the code from the old Kushan drone frigate.....hehe perfect

when i finish this hw1 i might give a try to make one for freespace, hopely i can directly import the models there, with this hw1 problem is the polies, right now i m working on the wyvern, it has around 10000 triangles, and this HUGE 1024*1024 texture, while the max texture size for hw1 normally is 256 (i m using 512 ones though) and the polygon limit per ship is somewhere around 1500 MAX, funny though is that total ammount of poligons on screen at same time, i have tested up to 50000 or more, flying a full formation of drakes, so there might not be a specific poly limit and thus ship limit for in game multiplayer matches.

yeah with the drones i m trying already to see if i can add that code to all the ships at least for galente, been working on the myrmidon model (going from up to down) but those ships are so organic, is hard to make good models without a billion polys.

and certainly amarr weapons would be easy to mimic... beams for everyone...

Harvesters, yes probably procurers and you can guess the resource controller will be orca probably, there will be only 1 mothership AKA supercarrier, for each team, no titans, (ships on eve are too big for hw size wise) and about the nyx coming out from the wyvern, eve has a weird way to scale and how ships look in game, on HW1 with dinamic scaling active you can actually fit (albeit hardly) 1 single carrier out from the hangar of the wyvern in the underside, and definatly only the supercarrier will be able to build stuff bigger than a cruiser (which on homeworld would be the equivalent to a frigate)

well in that case maybe u SHOULD do Amarr v Minmatar...u could reuse the autocannons effects from the original HW fighters on man near everything, and all you gotta do is cut out large chunks of scaffolding for the Minmatar ships XD

i will upload in 3 hours the current 3 ships that are finished for just to extract and use in HW1 (1.05 version) so you guys can see how they behave when fighting, they are currently on the kushan team so i suggest to disable research and add lots of resources, because the prices are already set to equivalents to eve and the rokh is rather expensive, will be back later going to university right now, hopely i can get the wyvern done tonight.

the best thing.. in hw2 you can set rocket spawnpositions so the drake shoots his rockets out of his not anymore cosmetic launchers.

dammit now you have me with this great idea of us remaking a new campaign that has the Minmatar (Kushan) breaking free from the Amarr (Taiidan) and they run into a weird cult along the way (blood raiders?) and a mysterious ghost ship (Jovian) and the Amarr have their right hand pirate mercs (caldari? sansha? (back when everyone was all cool with Kuvakei's utopian ideas maybe?)) and the Amarr try to get them in one last shot near the end (Jamyl's abaddon = asteroid? lol, but a little less OP id hope)

it all seems to perfect now...

oo oo oo and the Minmatar can be helped along the way by the Gallente XD
