I'm serious. If you had it all to do over again, would you be -10?

I had a -10 pirate a while back and had to leave the game for a year and a half. When I returned to the game, I found my support, not surprisingly, had evaporated in the interim. I ended up selling that character.

Now, on a different character (this one), I am again nearing criminal status, and it's likely I'll end up back at -10 again.

So pirates, would you do it again?

yes, if for no other reason that it is easy to bounce back. It literally takes less than a week to bounce from -10 to -2

Yeah, -10 is easy to recover from with ratting. It's tanking your empire faction standings that really hurts you long-term.

Better question: does the modern EVE pirate need an army of carebear alts to stay well-supplied? Question

Stealth bomber works nicely even in hostile space and with the current sov mechanism players bunch up in their home system to run sanctums so ratting is easier.

I have one (1) alt that I do PI on. It pays for my sub and my meager ship needs (I don't die a lot).

I must admit, it does suck quite often to be flashy. It used to be kind of a badge of honor for pies to be flashy, but now days low sec is filled with what I call weekend warriors (ie: **** yellows).

With all the weekend warriors running around, you are really at a disadvantage due to gate guns, specially if you end up in a mixed gang. Not to mention, even in null sec people run faster from you if you are flashy than when you aren't.

edit.. also making pies have to "rat up" sec status if you want to go non-flashy, is pure griefing by CCP. I'd love to beat whom ever came up with that idea over the head with a nerf bat.

Everyday I wonder, why have I been forsaken? Must my past sins damn me to a life of eternal misery? I long for the sweet tenderness afforded those in high sec space. I want to visit the stations of Jita and trade my wares. But no, these options are forever denied to me.

Look upon me fellow capsuleers, look upon me and give pity.

Helicity,
Do you do your PI in NULL? WH? I am under the impression that hi and low sec PI won't support much of anything.

Responding to others, with limited play time, I find it very difficult to raise sec status once it's low. So, going criminal is more of a full time thing for me, not something I can easily bounce in and out of.

I regretted going -10 a little bit. Without null sec support, getting your sec back up to -2 isn't easy at all. Though.. -10 is fun as hell. Ideally going -10 with null sec to get it back is the best way.

Also, helicity speaks the truth.. if you dont die much, you dont have a high cost of living. happens to me too fortunately :D

I dont really mind that much, only reason I would go to high sec anyway is for Eve Radio competitions so iguess i dont have that much to lose.

Good thing that you don't lose faction due to acts of piracy

I honestly have no idea how faction standings are calculated. But I've been -10 for years and these are mine:

Caldari State: -6.26
Amarr Empire: -0.55
Minmatar Republic: 3.37
Gallente Federation: 1.74

Seems recoverable, unless you need to go to Jita.

Yeah for sure. I'm almost -10 myself and i don't see a reason to raise it. Hisec has nothing to offer for me as i play this game purely for PvP and don't care of ISK much.

As for ISK supply that every pirate needs.
I do PI on my alt in 0.1 sec system ( Robotics ) Profit is 100-150m / week depends if i don't forget to click on them. Also i do some trading on alt but it's very casual ( i'm to lazy most of the time ) and Plexes aswell.

Statisticly i loose 1 ship per month ( 200m ) as i fly T2 most of the time.
Others from my corp do moon mining and caps production, also we take monthly ransoms for moon renting in our space.
So ISKs aren't a problem for pirates thease days

Up until recently I had 3 characters which were all sitting at -10 (sold one of the 3 - falcon/caldari character cause I literally hadn't used it in over a year), one of the remaining two is gradually recovering sec status cause there are some nasty things I want to do to certain people in highsec.

I've never regretted going -10 on any of them.

I do have one alt which moves **** for me, but I've not had any need to do any carebear stuff with it (beyond bit of PI + bp copying) for a long time.

This is because your missions for the minm.s included killing caldari navy little space dudes and you did that with reckless abandon ...

On the odd occasion I chose the brain-dead path of 'pirating' in lowsec, then yes, it's regrettable.

Unless you're always engaging ratters in belts, then having gate and station guns go against you is always a disadvantage.

Just pop one rat in a belt every once in a while ... it's really not a grind if you do it as you play.

The odd decent spawn doesn't hurt, either.

I'd say going -10 and grinding back up was not 'THAT' bad.Just try to get in some stable alliance in 0.0 -i had a friend who got me in his 0.0 corp - and you will be at -0 in 2 weeks at most.

So no going -10 ain't bad but leaving the game for a short/longer amount of time while -10 sucks when you come back.It is why i grinded sec stat for a week in 0.0 before going into my semi-hibernation from eve .

I've been -10.0 for over 15 months and it's the best decision I've ever done in this game. Highsec is for alts. I've never had to "bounce back" and I don't think I ever will.

If you're like me it's not something you can help. It's not my fault. It's the fault of all the idiots who fly haulers through low sec. Don't they know that they're flying giant kinder eggs? What inquisitive mind could resist discovering what toy lies inside if given the chance? None I say. No matter how well behaved you try to be the idiot to sec gain ratio is just too high.

So no I don't regret it. No more than I regret that it rained today or that bismuth is #83 on the periodic table. **** you bismuth.

Just making POS fuel in highsec will net you about 500 mil every 2-4 weeks depending on how fast it sells.

I don't regret going -10. TBH I never even think about my sec status. I just avoid highsec.

It's ridiculously easy to be well supplied through hauler alts and/or courier contracts. Through a combination of alts and jump clones, I always have a pilot in Jita buying and selling why my lowsec main needs, and some way of getting my supplies to lowsec and getting my loot to Jita.

I do not regret my -10, sometimes I even cry if I go back to -9.99
