I started this game like back at the last half of 09 I think.. for Me it was a process, like in any other
game I chose to try/play, and making my character is a Big part of the MMO experience for me.. and Eve Online back then was lacking considerably.. My first few hours of the game was trying each and every Race model , bloodline etc I didn't do this because I cared about Eve's back story after all one race is as good as another, I did this to decide which Race/bloodline I liked visually..
And in the End I chose Amarr/Amarr and made a truly grotesque character portrait and started Eve online,
and though that character picture was lacking considerably over time I have begin to think of it as a sense of self "This is My Character" I made it , it's me and maybe even "It's apart of me" in the since I spend alot of time in the eve universe and over time developed some pride in my characters/accounts..

CCP ****d my characters of the Identity I created for them.. they replaced the Amarr Race and Bloodline with models I would have never chosen visually for my characters, the Amarr/Amarr Female is ugly (to me)
(All 3 of my accounts are Amarr/Amarr "Lucky Me")
and with this shiny new Character creator that has some really nice character models for other bloodlines/races that are gorgeous.. but I can not chose from the models or bloodlines of all these new models and make something that represents me truly as I did when I started the game..
This is a Small thing maybe.. But this Small thing Is supposed to become a Much Bigger thing.. Incarnia.. walking in stations and Beyond.. who knows what 10 years may see in terms of progression.. Is a exciting concept that's immediately dampened by the fact that "The New Me" Is completely and utterly ****ing horrid.

To me, I started and created characters/accounts that I paid for, for along time now..If you want to update the character portrait system, sure that's you're right.. it is you're game after all.. but should you be able to forcibly make changes to my paid accounts that in no way violated any ToS or UA or any other rule in place at the time of there creation.. Maybe... Sure...
But you should had been fair about it, taking into account that to alot of people, characters are very personal.. to change the model of a Race/bloodline to something else entirely is not a happy concept to people who may not like the new model..

I think that you should have given everyone the same options we had when we started the game.
the ability to chose a Race and Bloodline in which to Re Make our characters to something we feel like is
Ours and that we can continue to Enjoy and have pride in for the next 8 years of Eve Online.

Q/A
This is not trolling and not even a discussion this is how i feel! you don't care? So what! Happy with your portrait/character? Great for you!! Not happy with it, still don't care! You're choice, no point being a prick about it.. Have something to add/say that is constructive about the subject?, Feel free to do so..

Think I don't like the New Character Creator? I absolutely love it! Great Job on the Tech CCP!, Why am I *****ing then? Because I want to enjoy it to.

Should I have posted in another ongoing Topic?, Probably, But I didn't see one, feel free to move.

/cheers

Not true! can't even change the Nose type (which is the most ugly part of the Amarr/Amarr Female arguably)spent hours and hours working on this model and it always ends with a homely looking lady.
the tools are fairly limited to how much you can move things in any one direction, it's not complex
you can't even change the shape/depth around the nostrils..

Spent maybe 10 minutes with Amarr Female with different bloodline and made a beautiful character portrait.. and also made various other portraits on other races fairly easy which is not the point,
the point is they made each to have certain characteristics and though you can change things around
these characteristics you can not change the characteristics themselves. it is after all the same model
no matter how much you move it around.
The Amarr/Amarr Race/bloodline Characteristic is I think in the end to be a homely looking *****! as I have seen many of people online with the same race/bloodline and all are terrible (no offense)

Being Homely looking is a characteristic if it something you can not change!
however it has been said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" which comes back to my original post
It is my character, I liked it before, I No longer like it.. I feel like I should be able to have a character I enjoy Visually and that I am happy with.

/cheers
<--- also this Img I created and liked personally in only a few minutes and is also Amarr but with a different bloodline.. I made this on a new alt on the same account Just messing around..

Boo hoo?

You pay CCP for a service that they can, at any time, for any reason, discontinue for you and you alone.

Count yourself lucky the Oveur isn't hung over and bans you for the lulz. I say that to myself every day.

Race choices are purely cosmetic and chosen out of appeal rather than any gameplay reason. Unless of course you consider the headstart of racial training. But given how quickly you can train in another race's equipment, it doesn't matter.

So I have no doubt that we'll see bloodline and racial changes in the future.

I am all For Change and had Hoped to see much Progression in Eve online.
as far as being stuck with a model I don't like based off a decision I made along time
ago about model I did like.. has nothing to do with flexibility.. more the lack of.
Thats like saying you get to choose a wife and pick one that looks like a super model,
only to come home a year later and she be Ugly ass hell and 500 lbs over weight.
But since you're flexible you might still be able to fit in the same bed eh?
Doesn't mean you would be happy.

If you love your wife you will still be happy, duh. And some of us were VERY happy to be able to change our portraits for the very reason you described... did you ever try to make a gallente/gallente male in the old system who didn't look gay, strung out, or both? Not possible, every last one looked like he was looking to plunder the booty of the butt pirates at speeds only tweak would get you to.

That being said, I really did hope to pic a new race/bloodline so I could get one of those awesome amarr hoods Laughing

I didn't say anything about love.. I just said you got to pick a supermodel for a wife.. *grins*
that being said I could love someone in the same since but if they went a long period with out taking care of themselves, I still would love them ofc.. though I would still probably move on..
this has much reference to my eve accounts.. I still love my characters but with the game moving in a direction that we are gonna be more and more in the role of our character, I do not want to play with a character that I find aesthetically unpleasing and in the end would probably move on rather then play a character i find ugly.. ; ;

Love your reference to old Gallente Characters!! LoL

I do agree for a part, i originally created my Amarr toon because they looked good, not for the story.
It's pretty hard to create an Amarrian female now that doesn't look weird.

People's tastes are different, so if they change they entire appearance of everything it would have been better if they gave us the ability to change race/bloodline/gender as well just once.

The only thing that changes when you change race is maybe a frigate skill point and the place you originally "spawn" when you create your toon for the first time.

Also it is the future after all, we could just jump clone into an entire different body just as easy Razz

So, i don't really know why they didn't give the option to let us change race/gender as well for once.

My guess is people didn't complain enough for CCP to change it.

I fully sympathize with you. I also think that with completely new models and unrecognizable new bloodline looks, CCP could have been so neat as to give people the option to start all over again, not just within the new - and very arbitrary - limitations of their bloodlines.

And you're right, some like it, some adjusted to it and for some it kills the immersion amnd takes away from the fun you could have in this game. Too bad CCP doesn't seem to give a damn!!

Well when I picked Khanids I also didn't pick the current kind of look.

They were the only ones (with Achura) with the nice long hairstyle ... tbh I don't think I'd pick Khanid in their current shape, although I managed to make her look like something I can still relate to.

They definitely did. I was Evil or Very Mad*FURIOUS*Evil or Very Mad when I first tried the new character creator on Sisi, they changed the basic look from a latina like girl with huge eyes (biggest of all bloodlines) to an asian girl with very small eyes.

Honestly I don't understand why they had to do this without an option to remake your bloodline. With the Sebiestor now looking spanish (but they took the blonde hair away from them for no reason) I'd rather be one of those, they resemble my old Vherokior more than the new one - only the name has stayed the same, the rest has become unrecognizable.

Really, if you change red to blue, blue to yellow and yellow to green, at least give people the option to choose whatever they fancy and don't push the red-lovers into blue because you say so.

First I'm sorry If you took it as an Insult.. I meant only that "I personally find the Amarr Female to be Ugly" Not that some people wouldn't like it or find it attractive.. I am sure people do both like and are happy with it..

In the End the way it looks Just isn't me, and I am having some character Identity Crisis because the character is not something I would have chosen for myself.

when I started the character Re customization thing It took me straight to the Amarr/Amarr Female Face I never new that I could go back and choose from one of the 3 bloodlines of the Amarr?? was this the case?
Honestly being able to choose one of the 3 bloodlines would had seemed like a fair compromise to me.. at least I would have had more options and chance of finding something I could relate with and be happy with.

this is about how things went with me..
the character re customization was released, I read a Post some where about it, that we could ignore it for a month before we would be forced to create a new character img before logging in.. I tried for a couple weeks to get something I was happy with and finally in despair I walked away from eve for a little over a month, when I came back I had figured I would have to make a picture before I could log in and knowing there was nothing I could do to be happy with it I just random so I could log in (this was changed at some point, I didn't have to make it, I did not know)

now I hate the game and been playing a lot of FFXIV lately.. starting this post In hopes someone at CCP says "Yeah people should be able to make a character they like with our new system" and some change is effected..

One could assume that the shock of jumping into a body belonging to the opposite sex could lead to some severe psychological issues. If I were CCP that would be my excuse anyway. But when it comes to bloodline changes within a race, or even a race change, I cannot think of any acceptable reason why this couldn't be implemented.

No, no, no.

The new system is great. Ccp maintained general bone structure possibilities while eliminating caricature extreams. All it takes is some genuine effort and an open mind for progress.

Here is a comparison of old and new Xavier zedicus: Linkage

I was able to recreate my characters base facial structure perfectly. Turn off hair (bald) and makeup and get a neutral expression, then mould the face. It took me looking at it from several angles and making little adjustments that added up to the whole.

Then I actually looked through ALL of the lightings and played with intensities. Then I chose a complementary background.

The only thing I'm missing is my tattoos, and I have done them on sisi and it exceeds my origional. I don't mourn my hair though I would like some longer options, but I made due and it one of the options that are change able In the future.

With this I do agree! As I said in my post. But everything but facestructure can be recustomized anytime you want. So you will be able to get your hair when Ccp makes it!

Glad your happy with your character but as you might note from my post My complaint was about the Amarr/Amarr Female..
and no offense but your old vrs new comparison looks absolutely nothing alike, sure there are some slight similarity...
but as your happy with it I say good for you..

I do agree the new system is pretty nice however ^^
