So let me first tell you about the thief. We picked the guy up and let him in corp around 18 months ago, to keep his name from the public, we'll call him "FAILURE". We helped him make money and succeed and gave him pretty much everything he asked for. Loans, pos/bpo use, helped him make hundreds upon hundreds of millions. One day he decides to take a break and lets his accounts go for a few months, then he comes back. at this time, we are a bit out of things, rl issues getting in the way of keeping the pos online (nobody was using it). We see him online one day and he asks why it was down, we explain, but tell him we'll get it back up. It is put online one night, the next morning we are missing roughly 1.5 billion in pos mods and ships. We had no idea what happened as it is a very close corp with all real life friends except a couple we've known for a very long time, "FAILURE" included. As it turns out, "FAILURE" had stolen the mods, he had been given rights to anchor something ages ago, and it was forgotten. But rather than leave corp, he stayed, pretending like nothing happened. So we began to plot our revenge.

At this point your all probably thinking, well thats your fault, he infiltrated you guys to gain your trust, etc..etc.. But We know this is not possible as he is a complete and udder idiot, and the rest of the story will attest to this.

Background on the corp. Almost all of the assets stolen were mine. They included several labs/advanced labs. ship assembly arrays, and a vindicator and ashimmu that had been in the assembly arrays. As well as a lot of t2 salvage and data-cores. The other key people are close RL friends of mine, one a director of the corp, the other in a different corp, but has always been close to us, as well as "FAILURE".

Revenge:

Step 1. Gaining "FAILURE"'s trust. Though we have told him countless times, he forgot that the three of us were RL friends. He talked to the out of corp guy and payed him back a huge loan hours after the theft occured. Then when our director started ragging on our corp, talking about leaving it and starting another one. "FAILURE" was all for it. But he was told he had to wait until the pos could be stolen.

Step 2. Since he is still in corp, I find his orca / hulk out mining, and procede to pop them both and a pod with some nice implants.

Step 3. My friends "take him in" and start telling how to recover from his losses by doing trade routes. Offering him loans against an orca he had re-purchased (with stolen money) and a freighter he had.

Step 4. I fabricated a fake trade route that looked incredibly juicy, and they showed it to him. He went for it. What was supposed to happen was he was supposed to contract his ships in return for the isk needed. then once he buought the items i was selling, i would take down the buy order and he would be stuck with insanely overpriced useless items. But since he left the contract open ended. My friends grabbed up his ships without sending him the isk. At this point we let him know what happened, which surely overloaded his tiny brain.

Summary. He stole 1.5 bil worth of goods. We blew up 700 mil in ships, stole 1.1 bil in ships, scammed him out of 250 mil isk (he bought some of the items before realizing he wasn't getting the rest of the isk) and he also returned to me about 300 mil in pos mods so that I would "stop hunting him" after i blew up his hulk/orca the first time.

Score :
"FAILURE" : 1.5 bil
Corp : 2.35 bil (everything he had)

I would say it's more 1:1 on ISK vice. Not 1,5 Billion vs 2,5 Billion
The second thing is, RL or not... It really don't matter. They still screw you over (it's a game) and just might be so good on it, that other guy takes the blame (Because no F...ing way, your RL friend would ever steal in-game something)

Right. That was very mean of you to take his isk after he rightfully liberated it from you. The right thing to do would have been to go cry in a corner, while filling a petition for him griefing you. Rolling Eyes

Props for actually countering the scammer instead of coming to the forums and crying about it.

I would have given his name, though.

I agree, letting others know his name might stop them from getting ripped off

Acutally I believe that's called being a victim. Doing the same thing back is, in fact, revenge. Good job OP.

I'm not sure if your saying he might have been innocent and it was my RL friend who did it. But 1: he left some of the stuff in his corp bay in his orca, so we could see that he had it. 2: He admitted to it as his Orca was in hull.

Aight fair enough. How ever, for my personal interest I have to ask. Did you bother to ask or did he bother to explain what made him flip the coin after few years being in group. I mean it had to be impulsive move, but what was behind it?

His pos use was sporadic at best, and he never helped pay for fuel. But he said he was mad that the pos was "never" online when he needed it.
