Maybe I am kinda bitter, but in normal usage you will never see it happen, and this is second time they revamp turret graphics while ignoring missiles, and missiles you do see, contrary to the turrets itself on your ship.

True. But the problem with doing something similar to missiles is that they'd also have to redo all ships that can in any way conceivably fit a launcher…

…so I can certainly see why they'd hide behind the curtains as soon as anything to that effect is brought up.

you? YARRRR!!

i somehow knew they would introduce new turrets, there was a youtube dev blog post which showed some guy at the screen manipulating a untextured turret.

EDIT: no, it was the chessboxing trailerthingie... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaBWBmYfqVQ

Those turrets looked pretty complete already. At least model wise.

I really hope they'll be out soon. =)

Yeah who cares now if they don't fix blasters. If I can fit a mega with turrets that open up and deploy before I try and melt you, well that will at least make my death visually awesome.

texturing is 90% of the work, you cant really judge the progress by the model :P

Yes VERY awesome, though they took quite a while to come out of their bays(not that long, just not instantaneous).

I wonder if we´ll get different "alert" states for our ships and thus the much needed UI changes.
Battle Stations! / turrets come out / market button(etc.) disappear ...

Yeah.....very nice. Hopefully next they will be able to devise a system whereby incoming fire doesn't all hit in exactly the same place.

So am I right in thinking that you will no longer be able to 'look at' and determine peoples fits based on what turrets they have fitted?

Sounds bad to me.

problem with that would be, how exactly do you show turret missing at 0m? :)

I wonder if it would be difficult to animate the pathing of projectile shots like you would see when a WWII aircraft (pre-missile launchers) fired at other aircraft with machine guns.

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km1hzTkn7fM

As you can see in the video above, you can see the bullets slightly arc due to gravity. Pilots would have to shoot slightly ahead of the target in order for the bullets to land on the enemy. In space, similar pathing of the projectiles should happen as well sans gravity. But seeing that you are firing at a moving object, you should be able to see that projectiles would be "chasing" the target (due to the tracking speed of the turret).

The same with missiles in terms of graphical updates. I would love to see missile launchers updated so we can actually see the launchers on the ship. Also, would be nice to see the same thing: Missiles losing speed as it reaches it's target and missing and showing how they path and move towards an object that's moving.

@CCP: Would that be difficult to program and animate? Or, would it introduce unnecessary lag in the game?
