I've been out of eve a while (well, almost two years now) just loggin in to queue up skills and whatnot. Looking to get back into 0.0 life and pick up where I left off. I'm trained almost exclusively with gallente, but it seems like gallente is still pretty weak in the grand scheme of things. Should I start the short haul of training toward amarr ships now, or will I be ok going back into the deep with my trusty megathron? |

I only visit 0.0 periodically, but from what I understand of major alliance killmails it's drake fleets and amarr online with a rather generous side of supercaps (supercarriers aka. motherships and titans). I'd start training for the slave ships if I were you. Amarr was my first race of choice and I never regretted it after flying the geddon. |

Edited by: VanNostrum on 23/03/2011 21:06:36it's now more like malestroms+tempests vs armor hacs vs drake blobs vs baddon fleets vs tengus+titans and many stealth bombers in between i like where it is going, though it's definitely lacking gallente somewhere in there |

Gallente carriers and supercaps are still very popular. If your heavily invested in gallente ships (and likely the drone skills that come with flying them) maybe look into training up to fly a thanatos and eventually a nyx.
subcap wise minmatar and amarr boats seem quite popular and the ubiquitous drake blobs of course |

Edited by: Harris Dawkins on 22/03/2011 23:55:17 Edited by: Harris Dawkins on 22/03/2011 23:55:02 Interesting... nope, not ever getting into the cap-ship game (If I ever get that urge i'll buy an alt to fly one) with this character.
Can't really tell which way is up by that description though. Amarr bs are familiar, and minmatar ships (I recall a rather generous projectile buff) make sense, but the drake and tengu?? Oddball there. I'd better trawl the old killboards and see what's up.
Edit: holy **** that's a lot of drakes |

It's because if you have enough high alpha artillery you can negate the effectiveness of repping on subcaps. |

Quick question: how many damned motherships are in the game now?
Good lord. When I left the game those things were as rare as titans. Never saw more than a couple in the biggest fleet mails. Now i'm seeing... literally dozens. How the hell can the servers handle all those drones???

A ****-ton. Big fleet battles will now have 10-20 titans as well. As for the servers, they can't handle the load. Lag is king, thus the alpha-arty maels and abaddons. |

Amarr Online is still alive and well in the form of AHACs (afterburning pulse Zealots, backed by Guardians and Damnations and a booster Loki), Hellcats (pulse Abaddons + Guards/Damns) and Alpha Abaddons (artillery Abaddons + suicide triage carriers). Other than that Drake Armies (Drakes + Scimis/Vultures) were popular about three months back as a counter to AHACs, Arty Maelstroms are the new FOTM (alpha is king), some people are running around in fleets full of afterburning Tengus they call Thundercats, cats and dogs living together, total anarchy. All because they can't wipe every non-BS off the field with a pair of well-executed doomsdays. Originally by: Harris Dawkins Quick question: how many damned motherships are in the game now?

The NC and DRF has lost a combined total of somethign like 50 titans/supercarriers fighting over one of the ****tiest regions in the game (Geminate). BRs include 100+ supercaps on both sides. There are literally thousands of supercarriers in the game now. |

Give it some time and there will be thousands of Sansha supercarriers running around, too. Then they will introduce Blood Raider Titans or something. |

it will happen a lot more slowly than the other supercaps. with other ships, they could use a bpo to make as many as they wanted and they could even copy the bpos to make more than one at the same time. as i understand it, the Revenant only drops once in a while as a one run bpc, from a system of rat spawning which is relativly rare, we'll see them show up a lot slower. |

Minmatar > Amarr
unless your gonna fit 1400mm arties on an abaddon. all the big 0.0 coalitions do is alpha fleets wether its a maelstrom or abaddon your still fitting 1400mm arties on it and insta popping carriers and BS's. Zealot is still probably the most popular HAC until people start doing kite fleets with cerbs and just start popping people out at 200km while the dictors keep the fleet tackled |

so to sum up
roam type: pretty mixed, drakes, zealots, some of the t3's are fotm but it's not like vaga's are bad blob bs type: artilery online, mostly maels but a decent amount of artidons too cap size: motherships and more motherships, most of them nyx (gallente fotm wtf???) but also some aeons, with such mobile cap dps titans gets to come out and play as well.
Took a one year break myself and have to say it's a lot more mixed now which is nice. How anyone can train gallente exclusively is really beyond me though. It's not like training artillery is a big deal when you have all the gunnery support skills already.. |

Pretty much this. Artillery has completely taken over all but the poorest alliance fleets. Drakes are the cannon fodder. Supercaps are their own beast. Regardless of what the sub-cap balance game looks like they'll be the deciders when it comes to sov. warfare. |
