Due to the wild influx of people moaning and crying about afk cloakers, I moved an alt into a known ratting system (9k-15k rats killed per day) and cloaked him up in a safe spot.

He's there right now.

BOO YAH!

All of you OCD "OMG AFK CLOAKERS ARE KILLING EVE" people must be going nuts right now. Please post you comments.

The fun part is watching the rats killed count drop. After a few days it will start to climb back up. That's when you start decloaking next to them randomly. YARRRR!!

Also you can toss out a few sisters combat probes. Always creates a good scare.

Every now and then toss a random message like "There's three (however many others you see) in local now", as though you accidentally forgot to change chat windows.

When not AFK I like to hide in jump range of a high traffic gate and pop whatever I can.

Keeping fingers crossed for internet connection to NOT be fluctuating, in order to ramp up hilarity factor to a maximum.
We require a journal of any interesting stuff that might end up happening.

Someone should form a coalition of afk cloakers and cloak in the systems frequented by everyone starting a "nerf cloaking" thread.

I nominate the OP to head this coalition.

CHange the name of your ship to "warp to me now" or "xxxxx" and decloak for a few seconds...

One time I cloaked from shortly after downtime ended until the next downtime started. True story. I was in Period Basis on a ratting tour in a Thorax. Some guys entered system so I cloaked. Then I had some other stuff to do and eventually went to sleep and the Eve client remained quietly minimized for the next 23 hours.

Postscript: I was then podded at the gate the next day when I tried to leave the region with my phat loots.

Changing the language to Russian for the client, will make the probes show up on D-scan in Cyrillic Razz

I'm definitely thinking about the same (as stated in other threads)

I'm not for "delayed" (as in never get seen by default) local,

but I've come to believe in AFK cloaking .... just changes the rules of the game into needing to be fleeted or have escorts to engage in pve ....(well only really if war decc'd in high sec .. but thats another issue)

If nothing else, I'm thinking about doing more AFK cloaking to head off the movement to nerf local that gives us a feel of who activity and inhabitants etc

I've suggested often that a good solution to botting and the abilty to warp off at the sight of danger would be to have Doppleganger player ships roaming around which would look like real ships in local and on scan until you got on grid with them (with clues perhaps on their char sheet that a human would see as a tip off that they're not real.

But short of that, afk cloakers in most systems.. would help.

As for ships... I'd suggest a stealth bomber (max torpedo damage fit, not with a bomb launcher)

The present a credible threat to a lot of ships, have the possiblity of a covert cyno, and alts can be trained to use them at a close to 80% of perfect level in their core affecting skills in a couple months.

I logged an alt off in a system in late 2009, and he's still there. I bet everyone there is still freaking out over if he's going to log back on again, because he is...when they least expect it. Twisted Evil

I think we need a new type of can to drop. One that appears normal in visual range, but outside of that it emits ship data. A cloaker could go in to a system, make a few ss, then start dropping these cans so the people trying to scan them down have to scan out each ship signature. Perhaps even make it so that upon dropping, you can change the settings for ship class and/or set it as a specific ship.

There is already a coalition of afk cloakers that are afk cloaking in known botting systems. Hence all the nerf afk cloaker threads made by throwaway alts.YARRRR!!

Anchor small bubbles on the gates when you're active and have free time. Your corp tag will appear on it. Maybe even eject 1 unit of ozone for a decloak can to suggest that you might be blopsing.

Do corpses decloak ships? Because they don't despawn like cans do.

Corpses de-cloak ships. Heard a corp member lost a cov ops due to being de-cloaked by a corpse.

Oh, Ive been wondering: Once the occupants get use to your AFK cloaker throwaway alt sitting in their system, set him blue, whatever, can you sell him to whoever is an enemy of the holder's of his present location?

Even better if he can cyno....

Thought I remember a patch note quite a while back where something that normally decloaks was changed not to... maybe it's the gas clouds in missions and stuff, but thought corpses went on the list too.
