Why is the insurance for T3 ships so stingy. For platinum for a Loki costs 3.9mil and handout is 13mil. But the ship costs 250ish mil plus subsystems bring it to about 400mil. Could this be adjusted to reflect the cost of the ship at least......

Its called pain. It is supposed to hurt when you lose that ship.

Insurance is silly/incredibly unrealistic anyway.

Insurence was thought as a small help to new players when they lose a ship.

It was NEVER thought as a "get ouf of Jail card" for vets, PvP or suizders.

You may also notice, that t2 ships suffer from the same problem.

The insurance works well only for the T1 ships, that's why we still have huge alliances using drake blobs instead of t3 blobs.

The way insurance works for T2 is, it covers the cost of the T1 hull that a T2 ship is based on. So a Zealot get's insures like an Omen.
Not exactly sure how it works with T3, but I bet the principal is the same.

The way insurance works is it covers the approximate market value of *just minerals* used to create the ship. T2 ships at least require a T1 hull which are made of minerals.

*is tempted to start the 'no payout if concordokkened' discussion again, but refrains from doing so.*

...oopsie... Wink

But to get back on track, what do u think would happen if the payout reflected the real cost of the ship? YARRRR!!

Probably huge blobs of marauders and t3 cruisers would start roaming 0.0... Plus suicide ganks made of t2 ships instead of t1... And so on, and so on. This way the t2 and t3 are for people who can afford to lose them, it would just bring the point of "no loss for losing a ship" a bit higher up.

I personally like it this way... I wouldn't like all the drake blobs getting changed into command ship blobs, bs blobs into marauder blobs and so on, and so on.

Insurance payouts should be conditional anyway. Do you think your car insurance company would pay out if you willingly drove it into a warzone to fail at chicken with a Maverick missile?

You are flying a T3 and worried about insurance?!

Yeah, losing one is supposed to hurt.

IN REAL LIFE IF YOU RAMMED YOUR CAR INTO SOMEONE ELSES AND SHOT THEM AND TOOK THEIR STUFF, YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WOULDN'T REIMBURSE YOU FOR IT, WHY SHOULD THE GAME?!?!?!?!

Insurance is based on the cost of the minerals used to build the ship.

T3s are mostly built from Fulleride gasses and Ancient Salvage, which aren't included in those calculations.

You know when you finally get that uber FOTM ship, you are supposed to be skilled enough or at the very least been in the game long enough to be able to replace said uber FOTM ship.

Yeah, so if you can't replace it or your experiencing acute sandy vaginal irritation because you think the risk /reward ratio is too steep, well then, it sucks to be you.

Insurance is for newbies and suicide gankers, and fleet ships of the line. A T3 cruiser is many things but it is not intended to be any of these.

Technically the polymers have mineral content so yea...

I said mostly, not entirely.

Also, only the base hull insures, subsystems can be more than half the cost of the ship, and do not insure.
