The fifth Council of Stellar Management has written a new blog about the importance and value of the CSM to players, and is a must-read for anyone who has not yet decided to vote in the current CSM election. Point your browsers here to read the blog.

My three votes have been cast after days of looking over the candidates. This is a good field with a lot of potential and a difficult decision. There were two others who I wish I could have voted for. Good luck to all of the candidates.

Indeed, an informed, engaged and active electorate is the greatest weapon the CSM has.

If you don't vote now, don't complain later.

CSM is a joke. This blog is just example, because all this "achievements" always flowed in the air regardless of CSM actions.

Quote:
CSM lead the effort to ensure than any micro-transactions added to EVE would be limited to vanity items.

So CSM is that brake that stops CCP from moving forward? Just throw away those whiners and make the game as you see it, and not as strange weirdos elected by 3% of player base see it. ugh

Not voting nerf ships? OK. Nerf drake and dramiel already YARRRR!!

Both voting and the CSM are important in order to get a group of reasonable, logical players on board who can dedicate time into distilling information to and from CCP, which if nothing else is one more way we have of preventing CCP and the playerbase from miscommunicating in huge ways (CCP: "Change X will be fine", Players: "That will ruin an entire way of playing EVE while adding nothing, instead do Y").

Reposted from the Jita Park Voting Statistics thread...

There are Traders in the world, there are Miners.
There are Carebears and Pirates and then,
There are those that follow The Mittani, BUT
I've never been one of them. Twisted Evil

Every Vote is Sacred,
Every Vote is Great!
If a Vote gets Wasted,
Oveur gets quite Irate!

Every Vote is Sacred,
Every Vote is Great!
If a Vote gets Wasted,
Oveur gets quite Irate!

Let the bittervets waste theirs
By staying unsubscribed.
Oveur shall make them pay for
Each Vote that's not applied!

Every Vote is Wanted,
Every Vote is Good,
Every Vote is Needed,
Oveur says vote you should.

Scammers, Gankers, Botters,
Cast theirs just anywhere.
But Oveur loves those who treat their
Ballots with more care.

Every Vote is Sacred,
Every Vote is Great!
If a Vote gets Wasted,
Oveur gets quite Irate!

Every Vote is Wanted,
Every Vote is Good,
Every Vote is Needed,
Oveur says vote you should.

Every Vote is Useful!
Every Vote is Fine!
Oveur needs everybody's...
Mine... and mine... and mine!

Let the Spam Alts spill theirs,
O'er Jita, Curse, and Domain,
Oveur shall strike them down for
Each Vote that's cast in vain.

Every Vote is Wanted,
Every Vote is Good,
Every Vote is Needed,
Oveur says vote you should.

Every Vote is Sacred,
Every Vote is Great!
If a Vote gets Wasted,
Oveur gets quite Irate!

Do not vote for Trebor.

The man is an ignorant fool.

Edit: This 'CSMblog' is nothing but a self-plug for the CSM members who are up for re-election. CSM members, that by and large, accomplished nothing. I just puked in my mouth a little bit.

I suggested that it should rain last week and indeed it rained almost exactly as I suggested (on Saturday, I was suggesting Friday).

So don't ignore me, I'm an important part of having weather.
You'd regret it if I didn't make all the effort to suggesting what weather there should be.

This dev blog was requested by CCP as a way for the CSM to express our opinions on the importance (or not) of voting in CSM elections. I think this dev blog supports quite well the argument that a focused, hard-working, and professional CSM can make a difference. Hopefully, that will encourage greater turnout at the polls from across all of EVE in the interest of electing a CSM6 that can build on CSM5's successes.

Interestingly, even though this CSM blog was drafted by Trebor, there was not a single a word of dissent from any CSM5 member about the final draft that has been posted internally for feedback
since 6 March (not even from Helen Highwater, even though the blog contradicts just about every assertion The Mittani has recently made about the CSM's lack of effectiveness).

Others mentioned it already briefly, but ill go whine a bit more:

Quote:
The skill-training queue was a CSM initiative.

Yes and has nothing to do with all the mini-threadnaughts (and full sized threadnaught after ghost learning was removed)...

Quote:
The CSM helped the players give CCP a corporation-wide wake-up call in the summer of 2010, resulting in CCP allocating more resources to supporting and improving old content.

Again had nothing at all to do with the threadnaughts (nothing mini about those) and negative media attention, purely CSM...

Quote:
The recent removal of learning skills was implemented almost exactly as the CSM suggested.

And like many before that already suggested. Granted in this case i can see the CSM getting the best way to do it considering some people also suggested some fairly horrible ways to do it, but in the end that only happened because CCP ignored it so long that people had the time to get all those horrible ideas.

Quote:
CSM and player pressure about performance issues encouraged CCP to create a special group, Team Gridlock, dedicated to the "War on Lag".

Ah player pressure had something to do with it this time.

Quote:
CSM crowdsourcing and prioritization efforts resulted in many CSM-sponsored game fixes being released in Incursion, and the allocation of Team BFF to the task of "fixing potholes" during the current development cycle.

Pretty much unrelated to CSM, besides that someone from CSM did it. But could have been done by other people to (actually some stuff was done by others too). This stuff can be found by a 3-year old on any bitter vet forum, really you dont need a few free trips to iceland to realise rockets were horribly broken. Although apparently CCP needed it since they said that they didnt see the issue with rockets since no one used them anyway. I suspect this is also their idea to balancing gallente. So to be perfectly fair, i might be underestimating here the influence of the CSM since i am underestimating the ******edness of CCP.

Quote:
CSM lead the effort to ensure than any micro-transactions added to EVE would be limited to vanity items.

Yes luckily those threadnaughts had nothing to do with it.

Quote:
CSM encouraged CCP to implement staged release plans, as was used in Incursion and will be used with Incarna.

And by staged release plans you mean 'iterating' on expansions, like cosmos, FW, sov mechanics, PI (really making it slightly less of a clickfest is not iterating considering what was promised), T3, etc? You do realise CCPs trackrecord of stages releases usually means only the first stage is done?

And now we got the botting and RMT (although personally i care more about botting than RMT, RMT only moves the ISK, botting generates it, i dont really care if people sell their hard earned ISK to someone else, especially since plexes is pretty much the same then) issue, who wants to bet with me that in the end CSM claims full credit for making CCP realise the issue? Completely ignoring all the threadnaughts, media attention, etc on the subject.

Every single one of these "accomplishments" were things the players were pushing hard for, not so much the CSM.

Add to that the silence from the CSM regarding jump bridges, and it becomes apparent that they really should be ashamed of themselves. This entire "devblog" is a farce.

Posting in a "Please vote so we don't loose our special privileges" thread. Seriously, this is like when politicians campaign about "the issues", when what they're really after is "keeping their lucrative jobs".

I'll be happy when the number of "abstains" outnumber the number of votes for the top candidate. Then we can petition to show CCP what "The Eve Community" really feels.

I would never ever vote for CSM which it's just a PR stunt. Customers already have the BEST voting tool at their disposal in a monthly fee mmorpg and until now several companies have felt dearly the power of that vote.
My accounts are still here and have been for 7 and a half years so there's the only vote I have to give.

It just seems pretty reactionary.

The Mittani launches his campaign based around the ineffectiveness of the CSM as a lobby group and argues more or less that it would work better as 'a-sober-second-thought' process.

This comes out a few days later trying to claim the opposite.

I guess anti-Goon might be the wrong term, but it is certainly pro-Trebor/Seleene. Its even titled after Trebor's stupid little jingle.
