Hi all,

In a cynical and obvious attempt to buy votes for my CSM6 campaign, I will be teaching a series of absolutely FREE EVE Online PvP Fundamentals classes on the schedule below. I've been teaching PvP in EVE for several years now, and this will be a good way to see if you think I have the knowledge of the game to represent you on CSM6.

The classes will be held on a private Teamspeak3 server, so you'll want to download and install a copy of Teamspeak3 if you haven't already done so. Full class notes will be provided, and I will be recording a session of each class for download. That way, if you want to take these classes, and then teach them in your own corp or alliance, you'll be able to do so! These particular classes will be lecture only, but will cover topics that you can practice on your own time.

These are very basic, beginner classes. No PvP experience is necessary. But the classes will give you the confidence you need to start to take advantage of the PvP options that EVE Online gives you.

Each of the three classes are 75 minutes long. Again, the classes are absolutely FREE. I'll just subject you to a short commercial for my CSM6 campaign. Wink

The following classes will be offered:

PvP 101: Fundamentals: This class teaches basic small-gang PvP procedures.
Topics include:
  • rules of engagement for different security space;
  • Empire war-dec procedures and preparations;
  • overview tabs, settings, and filters;
  • fleet standards, communications, and traveling with a fleet;
  • orbiting and transversal velocity; and,
  • target calling and fleet fight procedures, and what happens afterwards.

PvP 102: Fleet Scouting: This class teaches basic small-gang scouting procedures.
Topics include:
  • types of scout ships, their strengths and weaknesses;
  • rules of engagement for scouts for different security space;
  • roles of the scout and basic procedures for scouting;
  • basic directional scanning and scouting bookmarks;
  • scouting communications and combat calling; and,
  • escape and evasion for scouts.

PvP 103: Basic Electronic Warfare: This class teaches basic EWAR techniques.
Topics include:
  • types of EWAR and EWAR as force multipler;
  • descriptions of the skills needed for EWAR and their effects;
  • EWAR ships and distributed EWAR;
  • uses of EWAR and good targets for your EWAR;
  • escape and evasion for EWAR ships; and,
  • countering EWAR.

Details on schedule and how to attend the classes in my next post.

Having taken these courses before I strongly suggest people take him up on this offer.

You will learn a lot about how a good fleet operates and what is expected of you. If your looking to get into PvP in any way take up this offer!

Even if you think you know PvP take this up as you will still learn something about how a good fleet operates or the tips and trick you may have missed.

Best part is you can take this course and then share it with your buddies. I know a large part of our corp training program is heavilly based upon Rip's work.

It really is a great program.

Also how many other CSM's are willing to prove they knwo the game...all of the game not just some little part of it.

Edit: Also I believe all the classes are live.

Yep, these classes are indeed live, with a real instructor who is also an experienced EVE Online PvPer (me Wink).

You will be able to ask any questions you have (though I ask you not to make me late for the next class, hee). I'll have plenty of time after the last class of each day to answer more detailed questions, too.

I'm in :-)

Because I'm honestly interested to see how you'll do that, since I kind of teach pvp myself on occasions.

You won't have my vote though, but I hope we will work together on next CSM :)

Corporation: Senex Legio
Alliance: Get Off My Lawn
Kills: 798
Real kills: 712
Losses: 52

In How many years of playing? That's pretty depressing.

One would say you don't know that much about pvp at all.

So offer a class yourself, if you're such hot stuff.

Check the types of ships for the vast bulk of them, and the corp I was in when I lost them. That should explain a lot. Wink

Glad to see so much interest. Smile

Remember, these will be lecture-only classes. No ships needed. I will discuss many techniques that you can practice yourself while undocked, but unfortunately, I don't have the time within the confines of my CSM campaign to run full PvP courses.

If you like my introductory classes, I'll be happy to point you to others who can expand on what you learn from me with full-on demonstration classes complete with 0.0 roams. Smile

Again, these are lecture-only, introductory classes.

Hope to see you there!

I suppose we will be able to ask questions in chat as the talking in TS will make lots of confusion :)

As an obvious cynic, don't you think you'll have trouble fitting in with the naive, callow debutantes on the CSM?

LOL! +1 point for you, sir.

14 hours or so until the first class. Hope to see a lot of you there!
