I have a serious question, and having hunted about the forums for the last hour or so no one seems to have brought it up and gotten an answer. I have been looking forward to Incarna since I heard about it early in my eve days, now as a player with about a year in the field I have found my true calling and it is high sec pvp (not here to debate it). However with Incarna coming out I am worried that with so much to do in station players wont ever feel the heat of a station camp again. One of the best ways to force an alliance to surrender is to keep them in station, I know there are many things you can do from station even now, but this still has me concerned for the future of my career in Eve. If you have any suggestions/have seen posts Re this please let me know I would like to get in on the debate.

There probably won't be any change to it. It's not like they are messing with the core-gameplay in any ways. Just adding.

Also when there is a station camp they can just clonejump to other places.

Hopefully I can emote /smack people to death that refuse to undock, will probably provide for more lulz then anything, and if people want it (from a market standpoint) CCP will grant it.

The overall effect on station camps? Its pretty disheartening that war targets will have something other to do then ship spin, but... all MMO's change eventually. I will just be eagerly awaiting the day I can train Rusty Shiv.

Edit: Moreover I really think their attention would be better served fixing everything else wrong with the game first

Beta testing for the Twilight MMO is a much higher priority than fixing core gameplay on their existing game.

The current model of staying logged and watching netflix while the station campers stay glued to the undock is better?

you do know they can exit ship to pod, undock and warp off to wherever to continue playing without you bothering them? or jumpclone, or play on an alt...

High sec war "surrendering" is only because they are lazy or very new to Eve. Don't credit yourself with "boring players into submission", of course unless you mean with your terrible forum posts lacking paragraphs.

Oh no! You're right, Incarna is going to be a catastrophy!

You won't be able to grief people into thinking you're relevant anymore, because now they'll actually still be able to play the game despite you!

I'm sorry, but any game tactic where winning = making other players not play the game anymore is lame, antisocial, and frankly bad for CCP's bottom line. And as others have pointed out above, you would have failed even at accomplishing that.

High-sec station-camping is the lowest form of life in Eve. Congratulations on having found your calling.

Bawwwwww... this game is about spaceship violence, and they would do well to keep it that way; its an unforgiving place, and if you don't like it, go play something else.

Stop advocating the hindering of the game because you don't like it. What would traders do if people weren't losing ships? Everyone would be flying about in their high dollar officer pimped mission boats without impunity, and the game would be a very lame place indeed.

Station camping can be avoided in its entirety, sorry you havn't figured out how to get past it yet. EvE isn't about "I pay 15 dollars a month, I can play how I want" its about "I pay 15 dollars a month, and I'm going to own your silly ass the way I want".

Hard Concept to grasp huh?

Well for starters, I'm pretty sure I agreed that station-camping is easy to circumvent, but don't let that stop you trying to pigeon-hole me into a stance I didn't take just so you can attack me for daring to insult your preferred way of playing the game.

Second, don't conflate my stating that players should be able to play the game without other players actively trying to make them stop playing the game with this weird idea that players shouldn't be able to blow each other up. I said nothing of the sort, and it's either disingenuous or downright ignorant of you to accuse otherwise.

The whole premise of the OP boils down to "I make it so frustrating and boring for my fellow players to play the game that they're forced to pay me so that I stop griefing them, and CCP is screwing that up by giving them options that won't make what I do so frustrating." This is, as I said, lame. If you do the same, I pity you, as you're missing out on far more interesting aspects of Eve.

Finally, get over the adolescent posturing. You're not going to "own my silly ass", you're going to click a few buttons and your computer is going to tell you what happened as a result. Learn how to play with others... it's not always about tears.

Maybe that's the more difficult concept for you to grasp?

Got me to move my OOC alt from my an alt corp into a second alt corp, sure showed me who's boss.

P.S. You should probably throw in a line about "controlling my game" as well.

Station camping games are boring anyway, perhaps when your quarry dock up and ignore you for a few hours you'll be more tempted to war dec someone more likely to give you a fight.

+1 to this from myself also.

A technique that for all intensive purposes is intended to stop others from playing the game could only be described as harmful to the wider EvE Community.

Metagaming has an element, in certain limited situations.. but it seems to me that many things in EvE tilt the game towards "winning" being the ability to force other users out of the game by reducing its enjoyment & playability to zero.

I can't see any way in which that helps the platform, the company or the community.

You have got to be kidding me you really think that there are more players in this game that want to melt rocks and shoot little red box's all day then there are those that want to gank and grief your fooling yourself. Pve in this game sucks, its boring it lacks teamwork and its just plain easy any fool in a ship can do it.

As stated above Eve is cutthroat as hell, that is what the Dev's wanted that is what most of the players want. If you can't handle that go play WOW.

And for you who think there are so many easy ways of dodging a station camp your just wrong there are equal number of ways to prevent you from leaving as there are from running away. I love how people cry about PvP in high sec, its only b/c your KB is fail your fail and your mates are fail.

One last thing for those of you who will pop in here and talk about null sec being the real pvp, it's not it is just as bad as PVE mindless blobs with limited tactics BORING, Lag-ridden. There are still a few good FC's around but they are few and far between. Small high sec pvp corps/and alliance's where I know the faces, what they fly, and can rely on them to preform as much solo as a group is more fun to me.

Now that we have all gotten of topic other then pvp in station's which CCP has already said they are going to avoid doing for a long time what are the actual outcomes of this on pvp in high sec?

Lol.

I'm pretty sure even 'melting astoroids or shooting small red boxes' is vastly more interesting than the so called 'pvp' you morons are so furiously defending.

If you think camping noobs (who are too ******ed to just leave, let alone fight back) into stations in hisec for hours every day has anything to do with actual pvp, then you are just sad.

It takes all kinds, I guess? Some people find sitting with their finger over a the target button for hours on end doing nothing but waiting for a specific person to undock in their shuttle so they "can own their silly ass"...to be fun. Other people enjoy clone jumping to another station and laughing for hours since they know those people are sitting outside the station getting mad and crying delicious griefer tears. You mad?

Also, I'm shocked that the guy crying about not being able to grief noobs in hi-sec types like a 6 year old.

SHOCKED.

You know, that opens up an interesting line of thought. I wonder what would happen if we did an analysis of the correlation between the ability to type coherently and stance on this issue.

Using this thread as a small sample doesn't bode well for one side...

The reason I think that both joining/leaving corps for 1-way wardecs and dropping corp to avoid war are so incredibly lame is that they both abuse one of the worst mechanics in the game - the unavoidable, undefeatable ultra-police.

Given how much CCP likes to show off cool stuff they could do someday, and how little we've seen of what Incarna will bring us, I'm not all that worried about Incarna being much more intertaining than spinning is today.
If anyone's seen something from CCP that says Incarna is going to bring us anything more entertaining than running circles around the station as a proof of technology for WoD, I'd love to see that link.
