The opening event for CRAVE Inc. is now ready; the date is set for March 13th at 20:00 game time.

This event will be a Drag race of 1000 km.

All interested racers will have to contact me (John Tacos) and apply to the CRAVE corp. for the duration of the race (because there will be combat allowed).

The combat will be allowed for by can stealing, details will be comming soon.

There will be betting on the races, CRAVE will set up a thread on that soon at: http://crave.forumotion.com/

The entrance fee for this event is 10 million isk.

Prizes will be based on % of the total entrance fees.
1st gets 40%
2nd gets 20%
3rd gets 10%
4th gets 05%

Multiple races will be held if there are more than 10 racers, with the top 5 racers in each heat moving on to the next heat.

The race will be held in a system to be announced soon.

Deadline for registering is March 10th

Details can be found here: http://crave.forumotion.com/f14-drag-races

Hmm, at first I was very interested, but then I noticed there is combat involved. Pitty, enough combat events around, pure race events not so much. I did take a look at your site though (even though they are not hyperlinked), and I'm interested to see what you will make of your Subwarp races.

I myself will not take part in the drag race, not just because of the combat but also because I am the CEO of my own corp. I will inform my team members and see if they are interested though but I think that leaving their current corp might be to big a hurdle for them to take part in this too.

Is anyone else having the same problem with the event? if enough people would prefer no combat then I can change it, or host a no-combat version.

perhaps run a parallel "carebear" league/event?

or make it an alt race (go make a throw away account, put a few sp on it, grab a noob ship and prepare for lulz)

also note, crave is an event (including races) hosting service (we're not just one race!) feel free to fill out a sponsorship app and start hosting your own races, using our resources and your own rules!

regardless, more to come!

Honestly what bothers me, and I think this applies to a lot of players, is the corp thing. As a CEO I can't just go running off every few weeks to another corp just for a 30 minute drag race.

I think this event would appeal a lot more if one didn't have to join your corp just to participate. I know I would enter, I'm happy to support the racing scene in eve! Very Happy

In fact if I can find an alt with the necessary skills and no corp responsibilities I will gladly sign up with him.

Even so, think about the corp thing, I'd really hate to see this fail because of a lack of participants.

corp thing is PURELY for combat aspect... in the future if demand is higher it might be more plausible but its sounding more and more like it's not appropriate for A) our first event and B) such a relatively small event

nonetheless... its undeniable that such a proposed event, with adequate participation, would be at the very least "interesting"

Oh, absolutely. I was in a drag race "with fireworks" a few years back, I won by a few meters and subsequently exploded across the finish line. Quite spectacular indeed. In fact I still have the ship my opponent gave me as a trophy. Laughing

However that particular race was organised with can aggression - everyone simply stole from each other before starting the race, which gave us 15 minutes of free-for-all, more than enough to finish the race, and it was in my opinion less of a hassle than having to switch corps back and forth.

But this seems like a solid venture, I'm excited!

interesting, that would work for smaller races like this... not so much warp or hybrid races though... i like it! John... got some cans we can use? :-P

How exactly should one proceed in order to sign up for the event?

I see that the entrance fee is 10 million ISK, and that one should "contact" John Tacos. Should this be done via an in-game channel or will it suffice to leave a message on this topic or what? Smile

Is there any ship limitations? (If thats even spelled right)

John Tacos
Posted - 2011.03.07 17:46:00 - [13]

There are no ship restrictions, and no wepons restrictions.

Contact me in game, and post in either this forum or http://crave.forumotion.com/f14-drag-races this one, to create a public record, and the entrance fee can be paid to me.

Always tricky getting these things started :-/ the good news is we're keeping all the business plans, rules, regs and procedures well documented in all their versions. In other words, rounds 2 - X will be as simple as copy, past, change names; same goes for all other events.

That is why I asked how one should do this, as the original post is rather vague on the subject. I have already wired the fee to John Tacos. Should I make a new wire transfer to the CRAVE corporation while I am waiting for the refund?

You ought to put the bolded line in the original post, I don't see any benefits of not including it there.

I apologize for the confusion. Account payable is supposed to be a Sponsor decision as outline by our Event templates however, it was missing from the version john filled out and we only recently addressed the issue.

I have submitted payment on your behalf and assume full liability for reimbursement (from John).

In the future, this will be much more clear and we apologize for the confusion.

just finished setting up the track. its out in Balle VII Moon 17. Got a bm to start location I can shoot ppl in game. In reality it turned into a 750km circular track.

I will be on most of the day and we'll see how it goes. Really unfortunate John had RL to attend to :-/

Considering refunding entrance fees and just kinda making a day of it... fun rounds v competition.

How would u feel about t1 frigate combat racing (via can flip)?

will post link in corp info

I'm not sure it's such a good idea to change the rules mere hours before the event. How much advertising have you been doing?

I'm going to park my ship in Balle in case I don't wake up with enough time to make the trip before the event, should I bring something with a bit of grunt for a drag race, or should I fit for a circular track, or should I fit for combat, or should I bring a T1 frigate instead? I'm a little confused at this point.

This wasn't my race. I did not advertise it. The way we are structured, sponsors are supposed to do these things. John was the sponsor. He had RL stuff come up at worst possible time.

I will be advertising in local. It'll be open off and on most of the day. We'll see how it goes. Worst case scenario I'll hop in my stabber n give u a run for ur money :-P
