I have 2 chars with 5 planets each

I am making Organic Mortar Applicators start to finish.

I have 9 planets producing 1 of the 9 needed components each (one char has 5 and the other has 4) and 1 planet used for manufacturing.

On each of the 9 planets, I pretty much have 1 ECU with 10 heads on the best hotspot I could find, running on 2 day cycles (I find depletion less of an issue for me with 2 day cycles), a launchpad and 7 basic processors turning the p0 into p1. I average about 4,000 p1 units of each of the 9 components per 24h cycle.

I take all these 9 p1 components and bring them to the factory planet, where I have 4 advanced processors for each of the p2 units (8 of them in total as the 9th components is bacteria only (p1) for the p4 product). - So I end up with 16 advanced factories turning the 8 p1s into 4 p2s.

I also have an additional 2 advanced processors for each of the p2 components (4 total) turning them into p3.

Then I have 1 high tech factory, turning the p3 (plus the p1 bacteria) into the p4...

I can just barely make the 24 P4 the one high tech factory can supply each day with all the component volumes...

So I end up with 24 * ~650k isk per day ... or about 468M per month. ... That's with 2 chars that both have command centers skill at 4 and every planet is at 99% power usage.

..... How can people be making billions per week (read all the other PI threads there are many claiming this) on just 1 character?

What am I doing sooo wrong? :) Any insights, suggestions and comments appreciated..

PS: I know it fluctuates all the time, but at this time, doing the p4 instead of selling the p1/p2/p3 is more profitable....

Thanks

Well the first things that come in to mind is:

- wrong product? (or selling it in the wrong place?)
- lowsec, highsec, null or WH? ( think most of the people who "earn" are doing it in WH)
- Selling, you do know how to use orders? (yes I know, idiotic question, but someone has to ask it!)

And from what I've learned/read it's more profitable to sell the P1,P2 than make it to P3, but once you go P4 it should be the most profitable.

Hmm, that seems decent I guess, to me, as some of the planets I am running are around 2-3k per 24 hours on a 2 day program thanks to my area being decently popular and their being some global depletion. (I have CC IV)

Just going to ask, since someone has to, are you remembering to include the import/export taxes into your calculation for what is "profitable"? I ask because it's a whopping 50k a unit of p4 as I recall to export, something that screwed me badly when I tried to make a factory planet a jump out from Jita. Embarassed

And yes, the "billions of isk" people confuse the heck out of me, I assume they are running wormhole system with NO competition using short cycles chasing hotspots. And I also assume they are using 3 chars on the same account. ugh

1. Do not believe other claims making billions with 1 Character. I use 5 Characters with 26 planets.
2. It is good to have 2 types of planets separate - Pure Extraction planets (P0->P1) and a Pure Factory planet. You do that, so that is not the issue.
3. As far as I can tell, you're not doing anything wrong, maybe its just that POS fuel is more worth ISK.

ok selling for 650k each will get you isk, but given (see this link) https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ar_YTOcXpvb9dGFIdHJlb0VmYXBORWRrcXFkeHNjcWc&hl=en#gid=10

its the PI prodction cost sheet someone has shared on google, you will see what prices you can get for the p1/2/3 product over the p4, now last week i was selling oma's in 0.0 at 880k a unit empire was selling for 680k and the parts from p0/1 where selling for 780k when i checked.

its a case of selling at a price your happy to sell at. and watching what happens to the prices of the p1/2/3 product. a few days ago someone stripped all of one item from the jita market so the price was 1600 for p1, where as it should normally be about 380. this marks a blip in market and will offset the break even of the p4 against the p1/2 product.

i normally just sell at a price i am happy for. yes i have waited nearly the full 3 months before they sold but in the end it did sell
