I was thinking about how much easier it'd be for people with Jump Freighters or Black ops to be able to jump into high sec without having to use the gates. So why not utilize their jump drive capabilities? I was thinking of adding a T2 version of the well known Cynosural Field Generator, while the arrays on POS's would remain unchanged in cynosural capabilities (Any ship could jump to it with a jump drive, assuming it it online). So here we go,

Cynosural Field Generator I

  • Black ops and Jump Freighters can lock onto it.

  • Can be used in High Sec, Low Sec, and Null Sec.

  • Capital Industrial Ships with jump drive capabilities can not lock onto it.

  • Dreadnoughts can not lock onto it.

  • Carriers and their Super counterparts can not lock onto it.

  • Titans can not lock onto it.

Cynosural Field Generator II

  • Can only be used in Low Sec or Null Sec.

  • Black Ops can lock onto it.

  • Jump Freighters can lock onto it
.
  • Industrial Command Ships with jump drive capabilities can lock onto it.

  • Carriers and their Super counterparts can lock onto it.

  • Dreadnoughts can lock onto it.

  • Titans can lock onto it.

The Covert counterpart of the Cynosural Field Generator would remain the same. As stated above the Cynosural Field Generator Array (POS's) would remain the same. I was thinking for T2 operation a player should require Cynosural Field Theory Level III. This wouldn't affect Null sec cynosural activities because I would assume most people already trained up Cynosural Field Theory to at least level III (I Could be wrong). Also this would allow for high sec players to train for jump freighters and black ops, and still be able to utilize every aspect of the ship without having to go to Low Sec or Null Sec. If I left anything out please let me know! Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I like the idea of allowing Covert Cynos in Hisec more than this idea.

The idea of requring a Tech II cyno for bigger ships is interesting. Just take off the bit about Hisec for non covert cynos.

The fitting and skill requiredment for should be a lot higer than normal.
Maybe Adv Cyno Theory, which required Cyno Theory V, and BS+ fitting requirements. Might play into CCPs existing thoughts.

Realy interesting idea, being able to light a cyno in highsec.

It would allow for a much easier 0.0 logistics, i.e. able to jump a jump freigther directly into say Jita, instead of having to slowboat it from a 0.4 system.

Also with the covert cyno being High sec too, player YARRRR!! could pop up at a high sec mining op and wreak havocTwisted Evil, using black ops and stealth bombers, then just bridge out when Concord shows up(though the jump bridge would prob either be 0.0 only or have a usage timer(5-10 min apart)).

I know a few 0.0 players that only have cyno thery to lvl1, just to be able to light a cyno, though it doesn't take long to train it to lvl3, as well as the extra benefit of lower liq oz cost Very Happy

There is already two tiers of cyno gens, both with hugely varying skill reqs, so keep that in mind before you try to change anything.

Jump freighters are safe enough as they are without jumping right into high sec. This would in fact make it near impossible to disrupt logistics or any kind really. This makes it a really bad idea.

I would love to see covert cynos be useable in empire, but that has pretty serious potential for abuse. ATM a dedicated suicide ganker either has to hope their is a convenient wormhole to link up with a ship and thence, targets. If you can move around in empire without having to deal with faction police or basically any of the problems that exist when you are -5, then security status is having musch less impact than is desired.

You can always declare war to disrupt logistics.

I have JF and I want to fly 20j through hi sec. Why I can't do it in few minutes by cyno instead of 2h by gates?

This has to be one of the stupidest ideas I have heard of. Their talking an awful lot of reducing jump bridges or at least modifying their range to make it harder to move, why on earth would they take a backwards approach?

This isn't going to happen and it shouldn't. Its already to fricken easy to get to empire with JFs......damn spoiled brats. This is a MMORPG, it means you might actually have to be friendly to your corp mates so they help you out with escorting if need be.

No, not always.

To give people a good opportunity to blow you up.

Logistics needs to be made much harder (for everyone) than it is right now. Bypassing more space quicker only makes more space pointless, and further shrinks that part everyone already consider overcrowded.

If you want the logistical ease and inherent protection a JF has to offer, you have to pay the price.

Because it is trivial to make a character impervious to wardecs.

It's not stupid, and if it's a waste of your time, don't do it.

Not needed, since they can't be used for this purpose.
