Hi

This is my first program I've written.. ever.. so be nice.. if your able to =p

It's a simple program that convrts AU distance to KM's and will also convert KM's to AU.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/370wy0433dxn71t/autokm.zip

I'll add some other features as I learn more about C#
I just wanted to share as I would belive there are other programs that do this already.

edit: I'm running Windows 7.. so not sure if you need that.

I doubt that your program is needed when (au / 150,000,000) or (km * 150,000,000) in any calculator gives you pretty much the same result.

On a more serious note, I'm not going to download an executable from any humbug page and run it.

If you provide the source code, then people might be more interested to take a look at it and give (more valuable) feedback.

Thats pretty much the attitude I was expecting..
Your bashing my first program because you have simpler soultion.. fine.. but keep it to your self.
I made this to learn C# not get bashed and told it's potentialy worthless.

Here is a newer version anyway.

I might post the source code.

Building stuff for your own use to learn how to program is good. Posting random executables that do not fill a useful purpose is not so good.

If you post your source code, we might be able to offer a little more encouragement. However, given the simplicity of the program's description, I am not sure if there is much that we could contribute to your learning.

Perhaps with some of your future projects we might be able to be more helpful.

Sheesh, people are so harsh. There's no need to be rude to the new guy....

It's great that you're learning programming. But it is very unsafe (think: viruses, keyloggers!) for you to download executables from people you don't know and trust really well, therefore it's unwise to post them without earning our trust first--how do you expect us to feel? We'd be happy to critique some source code though.

See? is that so hard to say in a more polite way?

Tbh I didn't see anyone troll you. Didn't even think reactions were overly harsh. Not sure what you were expecting posting a program that performs a single mathematical operation (I'm not trying to bash you either btw).

I like the comments in your source code... they made me laugh ;)

If you are looking for appreciation, Ben, then you came to the wrong forum.

line 28: if (km < 0) ... but you continue anyway with your calculations
line 25 & 38: if you are working with constants use CONST(ANTS)!
line 26 & 39: is KM and KM_1 any different? Why don't you use KM both times?

use continuous nameing for variables and fields: kmcon and audisp, either kmcon and aucon or kmdisp and audisp. Variables should also quickly show what their purpose is: use field_km and field_au as an example

resualt is spelled 'result'

The other thing is: you posted your application here for feedback. Either accept the feedback or skip it
