I like doing courier contracts for players. I feel like I am genuinely helping another player out. I have even gotten evemails from folks saying thanks for doing this <insert huge amount of jumps here> haul for them at a reasonable price.

Am I an MMO masochist; enjoying doing a simple profession instead of wrecking players?

You're having fun ... like those of us posting on the forums often are doing... just a part of the game

Yes you should!

<reads op>

…but not necessarily because you're accidentally enjoying yourself in the game. Razz

^This guy, this guy.

You are the cog that makes my alt's wheel turn. Keep it up. Soon you will be, if not already, in a freighter, making mega bucks for 9 jumps. Amarr to Jita is the route of choice.

Freighter is a a few weeks off I'm afraid, ha. I wish. I'll look for your contracts in Amarr since I am hanging around there a lot here recently.

Alt has been laxing on trade as of late due to this char playing iincursions and what not.

His name is Flyberius BTW.

But seriously dude, once you have the collateral to cover multiple contracts (sometimes plexing can help here) you will be gwafforing (lolling, laffing, rolling in it).

TBH i'm glad there are still some trustworthy players out there doing their thing. Wink

Should you be ashamed?

The question is - WILL you be ashamed, later, upon retrospect?

I liken it to, say, an entry level job. Should one be ashamed for working at a fast-food restaurant when 16 years old? No.

Should they be ashamed doing the same job at 25? yeah, probably.

You're really not doing anyone any good by feeling good about the nice things you're doing. The truth is - from the user's end - that such deals and work on your part will be seen as merely standard game mechanics on their part (that is, unless something goes awry).

Aside from role-playing, there is no 'life' to build out there in the stars - it's a game. With that, the faster each learns the harsh realities of working around so many opportunists, the better it will be for them.

I actually started doing a few of these couriers when i have some free space in my iteron and need to go to Amarr I check if there are any in the region to go that way. Its like being paid to go somewhere you're already going to Very Happy

I did the same thing. It's actually kind of fun. It's the closest to rp Ive ever gotten since it's not much ISK even on a fresh alt. That character somehow forgot it was EVE, retroverted into a naive carebear and got suicide ganked.

Are courier contracts worth it? I've always thought they were scams for the most part.

I did some courier contracts and generally npc items trading in my first days in my trusty iteron III. It was a fun time, having that "lonely trucker in the endless space" feeling while hearing good music.
