Vherokior females are not easy to make and the eyes do pose a challenge. I did manage to render 3 of my Vherokior chars without having them look too similar. Alishia AfteburnerVera ChangSuzieWThey managed to look less Mongolian and started to look more Korean by the final portrait. |

Edited by: Mara Rinn on 30/01/2011 02:55:16 Originally by: DeMichael Crimson I see some good looking Asian portraits in this thread but I think Mara wanted to have the new character look more like her original old character.
Yeah, I was trying to recapture the "theme" of the original Mara which was prominent cheekbones, an overall "gaunt" feeling, but a face able to express satisfaction and happiness. Quote: Making the new character look like the old character is tough and you'll spend a lot of hours working on it but it can be done.
I'm coming to realise that, and may just have to settle for a new Mongolian themed face. edit: and of course, thankyou again to all the people who have posted with (pictures of) their vherokior female characters! |

Gah! Every time I turn my character left or right she keeps looking at me. How am I supposed to do the forward/back sculpting of the head when she keep looking at me with that accusatory stare, the nonverbal "¡ARE YOU DONE YET?" deafening in my ears.

Originally by: Mara Rinn I'm desperately trying to build a vherokior female that isn't totally ugly (witness my current attempt).
Here's a vietnamese woman whose face I was trying to replicate. I'm having troubles simply because I've obviously chosen the wrong morphology to aim for, and keep coming up with something that looks like a poor attempt at parodying this chinese woman.
If only we could alter the eyes beyond simply moving them around on the face! Does anyone have hints for making a lean Vherokior female face? The best I've managed so far is this.
… and now off to bed to wonder if I'm not putting far too much effort into creating this silly portrait.
I took a shot at replicating the old you. The old you is here and my attempt is here. The eyes do leave something to be desired, but not so bad. I could make them appear larger with pose, lighting and makeup, but tried to stay faithful to the original. |

Edited by: Mara Rinn on 30/01/2011 03:18:51Awesome! When you take away the cartoonish feel of the original the face looks a little smug doesn't it? Thank you for taking the time to try that out |

Why wear sunglasses when we already look amazing, as opposed to the paler skinned races who are always walking around looking very dumb and/or surprised? I reckon your portrait in particular is well done! |

To those of you posting about using the portrait tools and lighting to adjust your character looks, why?? Are we going to be able to remodel when Incarna releases? If not, who cares what your portrait looks like, as the true test will be your actual character walking around in the station. But I suppose that's all conjecture, and not important at the moment. |

You got that right. Incarna, or walking in stations, as it originally called, was announced nearly three years ago. I suspect we'll be living with only the portraits for quite a while yet, so every little lighting and posing tweak is important, IMO. |

Because we're trying to get a portrait that we'll be happy with in-game until such time as we develop more artistic skill, and have an opportunity to remodel the character. Whether Incarna or artistic skill ever arrives is irrelevant. |

And there we go. Computer crashed three times while trying to pose. This time, just kept hitting "random" until I got the hairstyle I wanted, took off most of the makeup, picked a background and took the portrait. Five minutes. It's not butt ugly, so I can live with it for the indeterminate future. All it took was admitting that I have no talent |

Well, it looks like I've been given a chance to redesign Iris. I've redesigned my two alts on this account and I think they're both marked improvements, so I hope I can do the same with Iris. Thing is, other attempts to recreate on an open slot on my other account fell horribly short, and I've really grown to like how she's turned out, to an extent. I'd like to get away from the sleepy/high descriptions I'm getting in response to her, but I don't want to lose her thoughtful/pensive (I like that) expression.
I'm curious to hear what you guys would recommend as far as improvements I could make. |

When bloodlines came out i was totally jealous of the new minmatar race. They were so cute looking. Perfect for being a miner or a trader or a nice fluffy sociopath who giggles as they dismember you.
They had such horrible attribute spreads though I never made one.
When they threw out the idea of bloodlines having unique attributes, I wanted to make one, but never got around to it. Always secretly wishing I could be a cute space gypsy with a hair style that looked like an elaborate hat, but never wanting to put in the effort.
Boy am I glad I never got around to it now.
I feel sorry for people who felt like I did when they came out and actually put forth the effort.
I guess it just goes to show, being lazy pays off. |

Actually that's not bad. Made me click the small portrait to get a better view. Even the small picture has some character, she's looking just so slightly sad. |

Call me conservative but any east asian face without the darkest possible eye colour looks odd to me. On my asian faces I even choose the widest open pupil to make them even more dark. |

I have been trying to shape and mould and sculpt my Veherokior miner alt into something that looked like her old self but it's impossible. Funny thing is that the old Vherokior actually had the biggest eyes of all bloodlines (partially due to a lot of standard make-up, admitted). When you look at the Amarr Khandid bloodline, they're far more flexible and mouldable. I mean, look at my portrait. With some patience and effort you can really give them a major overhaul if you don't like the basic look. I haven't been able to do that on Vherokior. |

Edited by: Anne Arqui on 31/01/2011 22:59:32Well after a few weeks and getting some inspiration on the forum I finally did my last remake. It's still not exactly what I want but I think I can at least be at peace with it, she looks symapthetic to me and I can relate to her expression and pose. I also tried to give her a natural look, so no strange hair or eye colours. She may not be the prettiest around or win beauty contests but I think I can like her for what she is, nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks to all Vherokior for keeping up the good spirit! http://image.eveonline.com/Character/1469462989_512.jpgImage changed to a link. Spitfire |

This website has a pretty nifty gadget that could help ya out i think. When your not sure what to improve, why not see if it's criticism actually works? =D |
