Ok, when I saw the new character creator I was like "oh cool now I can make my guy look like a South Beach denzien" but I was under the impression that the new creator was put in as a precursor to walking around inside stations. Im reading up on all the features for the xpack a bit more deeply and im not seeing anything about walking around...so what was the point in the new creator? are they planning on releasing the better updates at a later time ( fine by me btw) or has the idea been sc****d until further notice?

The point of the new char creation was to alienate loyal people who watch expansion after expansion as CCP turn this game into hello kitty online and forget it's supposed to be about freaking flying ships and blowing stuff up.

The Incarna expansion, not due till this summer sometime will introduce walking in stations. Until then, we've just got new avatars.

More features for your character and some level of interaction will be introduced this summer with Incarna though it remains to be seen what kind of functionality will be delivered after these years of waiting.

Many bitter vets upset like the poster above, but it's probably a smart move on CCP's part at least from a business standpoint and will likely benefit everyone if they pull off something decent this summer.

I believe CCP is serving us teeney weeney bits of food until the main course arrives. Thinking about it, it makes sense because if they drop a big update to us, there may be many breaking bugs until their game is totally unplayable. You don't want that, do you?

So, best enjoy all of the appetisers before the main meal comes.

Well it seems that we at least get "smuggling in stations" for the summer expansion. I guess that wil include walking too.

When we get drinking in stations, customizable bars in stations, dancing in stations, offices in stations, new clothes in stations, shops in stations, mini-games in stations, exotic dancers in stations -if at all - remains to be seen.

They've been working on the "blowing up stuff" part since 2003. Now they take a year or two to grow the game and people get their panties in a wad. You can be all negative and look at it that way. The way I look at it, these "softer" features will potentially interest a wider audience, which translates into "new blood". IE more things for you to "blow up". With a boost to the player base things can be shaken up a bit instead of getting stale with the same people continually blowing each other up.

It's a necessary addition to the game if they want to continue to grow and move a little beyond a small niche title to something a bit more mainstream, which I'm sure scares some people, but it will still be a niche. Unless they turn it into a fantasy game.

I agree with you. People whining about the new portraits need to just play the game. Also, nice to see ya playing Eve, Condi. o/Smile

First, many, many years about it was slated for release "Soon" in the summer then fall it was called W.I.S. for walking in stations. That was a lie and it was never released. Then they called it ambulation and slated for release "Soon" in the summer then fall but that was a ****ing lie to and never did. Now they're calling it Incarna and saying it's going to be release in the summer..... I wonder what's going to happen next.

And it never ceases to amaze how morons like this forget that its CCP's game and that they haven't actually forgotten anything. People like Captain window licker here seem to think they know more about this game than the company that actually designed and created it.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!! CCP have ALWAYS intended on EVE being a complete sci-fi universe and they have ALWAYS had plans to include Incarna or a variation of it. So why don't you go read the forums, get an education, take your head out of your behind and stop telling CCP how to make THEIR game.

Judging by the latest EON article, Incarna this summer might well be just that, walking in stations ugh

Quite frankly, I would be perfectly happy if CCP didn't add more PvP content for a year or more, as long as the resources to that go towards fixing lag and correcting balance issues with the PvP system we already have.

Yup. CCP Explorer let slip in another thread that they are going to a new granular expansion release schedual that might stretch for the entire year. So instead of an expansion every six months you will get bits and pieces every few months so they can have an easier time debugging it when the inevitable glitchs hit on tq that didn't show up on sisi. But back to the incarna bit he hinted that incarna will be deployed over a 12 month period so only expect the barest of features for the summer part of it. I'm betting that by then they will have finished all the wardrobes and detail stuff like tattos and such that were missing for the current character creator. That way we will at least look good as we able about doing nothing. Razz

This. CCP, please srcap Incarna and this stupid arse character creator. Customizing our ships would have been cooler.

But then you would have people whining because their 8 year old computer can't handle the customized textures and that it ruins the game. Along with people complaining that this isn't a ship dress up game and that they are wasting time adding things that no one cares about.

In other words, no change will ever make everyone happy, and those who are unhappy treat their opinions as fact. This is nothing new, as is my response. Get over it.

Basicly i think we will be getting the absolute barest version of incarna in the summer as its been wildly said for some time now that ambulation was going to be realeased in several expansions/patches/releases, someone mentioned about flying around planets, and yes i think there is still a plan for that, and that was to be just one aspect of ambulation as a whole, to fly down to planets atmosphere and actually inside massive asteroids. So i expect what we get with incarna is just one of those aspects of ambulation as a whole which as someone metioned about the latest EON article, mill mostly be walking around in stations and be about it, but i guess we'll all find out at fanfest.

People get a bit angry i think because they've been wait a very long time for it, i dont ever remember it being promised soon, but there are plenty of videos out there from fan fest which basicly said soon or hinted within a year without actually physiclly saying that at the fanfests over the past 3 years, which i think is why people wont believe it'll be out in summer, or get angry when they posts like this. Some of course have a fear it'll turn into a WOW game, which i cannot understand where on earth they think that, but some do.

It would be absolutely sweet to see customizable ships, im for that one, always have been since Earth & Beyond came out 7 or so years ago before it was canned.

The Incarna engine will be the main force behind the "World Of Darkness" MMORPG CCP will be releasing in the next 2 years, i have always thought this, and always thought the whole walking in stations project as a whole for eve was the testing area for their next big MMO, even from the physicX and cloth demo video on the incarna engine suggests its mainly for the WOD game.

I for one cant wait it, been waiting a long time for this one, but i do hope they do more for in future releases to incorporate the incarna technology/engine to more parts of the game like perhaps the ability to land on planets, or land on stations at the end of a mission to detonate a guristas war station and undock before it explodes, theres a LOT you can do with this, i just hope it wont be extremely limited.

i think the issue is they had a playable demo over 2 years ago. so it's like, what did you do it with since then? nothing?
