I assumed the binding update would have "Launch drones"; I was wrong. Its silly to have keys to return drones to bay, return and orbit but not to launch.

I suggest adding a binding to launch drones.

Additionally, I'd like a "Mine repeatedly" binding to eliminate right-clicking for simple drone commands all together.

you can have more than one group of drones.
making a hotkey to return all drones is a start tho.

They always had an option to return drones, my standard setup was/is ALT+E Engage, ALT+R Return & Orbit, ALT+D Return to Drone Bay, none of the drone options have changed since before the expansion, you just don't need to use one of the 3 special keys now if you don't want to.

I posted a more complete solution here, but CCP didn't feel like doing it yet. Or any of the other things. And they broke the Set Chat Channel Focus shortcut, just as we're going to start really using it.

Somewhat disappoint.

launching drones only makes sense if you only have one set of drones in your bay. and most droner ships have room for more :P

I've thought about this a lot as a gallente pilot, and I have had a couple of ideas on how to resolve the "multiple drone groups" issue.
1. Give the ability to bind drone groups to the module bar, via drag-n-drop. first click would launch, second return to bay. Right clicking either in the drone box or on the button itself would bring up the traditional command menu. Perhaps with a health bar similar to the overheating damage bar, only with 3 bars spanning around the button in place of one. Drone with the highest damage would be portrayed in the button, much like cooking one's guns.

2. Enable hotkeys for "launch group 1, launch group 2, etc." then drones could be assigned to each group via right click.

The former being more elegant, but the latter easier to implement. I suggest doing both, starting with #2, and moving to #1 over the course of an expansion or two.
I see #2 was touched on already in a previous post. heh.

Agreed, a key binding for "launch drones" would be useful.

I can't comment on whether I would find it useful when using multiple drone groups ... but at the moment, with only 4 drones in my bay (and all combat type for missions), I certainly would use it.

Several others in my corp also would like to see a key binding for this.

I really like this idea.

But I'll settle for a "Launch [all] drones" hotkey for now.
