Do I just run it or start the game and add it that way?

The patch is an executable file, which is saved in the folder location defined by your Bittorrent client program. When the download is complete, you run the file and the installer starts. It asks for you to confirm the location of your EVE install, and then completes automatically.

Well, that's a wonderful community effort. I'm not sure if it wouldn't be faster to directly download it for myself, but I figure this way at least I can also help seed.

This is the way all patches should be distributed in the first instance.

CCP Speed (auto patch) = 230k/s
Torrent Speed = 1.1M/s

Thats more like it. Thank you Chribba.

I wish CCP deployed STEAM updates to EVE at the same time, even faster then :D They will eventually update the default distribution on STEAM though but not before I use the built in patcher.

Wouldn't help at all really. Steam always falls on its arse when there is a big update or game release where it gets to the point where you struggle to even do anything in steam let alone play the game.

Thanks a huge amount for the torrent - downloading flat out on my internet connection right now :)

okay.

I'm sitting in a bar,
connected to a wireless LAN somewhere in the building.

It's open, so i use it.

Why i'm sitting in a bar ?
Because of 500+KByte / second,
which i just don't get at home with my mobile crap.

Anyway ... downloaded the patch from eveonline.com.

Waited for 1.5 hours ...

Last time i looked at it,
it was like 10 min left ...
... and 5min later ... done.

And ... corrupt.
Did start, but didn't work.

It started consent.exe ...
(which is the Win7 admin-Yes-window-thingy)
(easily explained ^^)
... but that was it.

(Yes it's a long post with a nice ending for those who care ^^)

Then i saw THIS.
30min to go ... from initial 45.

WOOOOHOOO CHRIBBA!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ARE SOOOOO ...

Just dropping a note ... if you've been running on SISI for the last day or two, the SISI client is a direct drop-in replacement (which is build 221279). There is no need to download any patches whatsoever.

Just do a reverse copy i.e. delete all contents in your TQ Eve folder and replace with contents from the SISI folder.
Then cackle madly at all the folks who's currently waiting for their patch download to finish Twisted Evil

Perhaps I should not respond, because I have no Mac experience. But it seems that uTorrent, the "de facto" BitTorrent client for MS Windows, is also available for Mac. I bet you can't go wrong with that one, so you could try it. Linkage to uTorrent website

Muchas gracías, señor Chribba. I play EVE over a mobile broadband line which is great for playing EVE, and not so great for downloading gigabytes of EVE patches in a timely manner. I have lots of bandwidth at work and a thumbdrive to take the patches home

CCP - wise up! Make it easier to get the patches without having to run the client. That is all.

Chribba,

Thank you making this torrent. I got a 230KB/sec instead of the 25KB/sec of the CCP download.

Still, after downloading the patch, and executing it, it says my client is corrupted and I need a full reinstall. And now I'm again at CCP site downloading the full client at 25KB/sec.

Isn't there a torrent for this full client by any chance, is it?

thanks,

Avui

EDIT: I just read that the original Mac patch was corrupted (http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1450535)... Is there any change to create a new torrent with the corrected Mac patch

Is there anyway you could torrent the a .rar of the client files? I keep getting a CRC error even with the torrented exe file. =(
Well if anything just of the character creator files? From there i can do a repair tool.

Im a sad panda.

Sorry, but I do not see how changing the file format could help you in this matter. CRC-errors are most likely caused by poor internet connection/network quality, or broken hard-drive/media. Have you checked the downloaded file against the checksums Chribba has provided in the opening post? You can do that by installing ExactFile for example.

This isn't always the case; as you saw with the Mac patch, some, including the one that Chribba seeded, were corrupt.

Until you see a news article saying 'everything is fine, start patching and what not' you really shouldn't trust anything you download, regardless of how well someone may stand within the community.

Additionally, even if something has the same client build number, it might not have the same content. There are times when we've rebuilt patches and modified content, but kept the release build number the same, yet again emphasising that until you get the go ahead from us in the form of a news article or such, there are no guarantees you'll be spending your bandwidth wisely.

Thanks so much for this Chribba.

I noticed my Eve installer said it would be done in 8 hours.

I was like F that.

Found this thread thankfully, and now I should be patched in an hour or so.

Does anyone anticipate me having any problems if I started downloading with the Eve installer, got to 2-3% and then canceled it?

If I just run this torrented file will it install nicely regardless?

Thanks
