I meant to go to CCP's Youtube site a minute ago, but some strange twist of tiredness took me to their corporate page by accident...

On the front page the have a 'mouse-over' image, which can display three different 'theme' images - one each, for WoD, Dust514, and Eve. The image for Dust514 wasn't quite what I expected though... Here's a cropped version of it.

To me, that looks like a rack of bodies cabled-up to some strange looking bio-mechanical system.

Any thoughts on this? Anyone heard anything about the backstory that would explain this picture...?

Looks like something Nation related. Using humans as massively parallel processing nodes.

The next EVE novel should supposedly introduce the new type of cloning tech used for DUST soldiers. No idea how it operates yet.

Warning: some of this I'm going to link to the articles, some not; there's a HUGE amount of information out there that could possibly shed some light on the future development of the Dust 514 storyline.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Duvolle_Laboratories_(NPC_corporation)
-Heavy into Cloning, and have worked with Ishukone before.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Ishukone_Corporation_(NPC_corporation)
-Is shown in the Dust 514 trailer, above Intaki.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Crielere
-Duvolle and Ishukone have worked together in the past.

-Duvolle's home system is the source of a tip to a Creodrone scientist who died in another chronicle.

Now, what the picture in that image looks like, is an Amarrian station with a Sleeper drone or Jovian ship.

What do we know about Dust 514? Not much. But what we do know is that there will be cloning (how else would you explain respawning in a sci-fi MMO). What clues are there in that picture besides simply the Sleeper/Jove/? technology?

It's an Amarrian station.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Takmahl_Biodroid_Controller
-The Takmahl were a highly advanced society who split from the Amarrians due to religious differences shortly after the Amarrians took to space travel.

It is implied that the Amarrians have been studying Sansha's Nation, trying to learn their secrets. There has been some suggestion (on a certain test server, and by an event actor) that Sansha's Nation ships are crewed by clones.

Further, I did some digging, and found this interesting site (a UCLA research facility dealing with nano and pico scale production research; exactly the research that you'd need to master Fullerene technology (a link to my rambling thread) and hints that the research could have implications on all aspects of society; from communications and electronics, to material manufacturing. Even, in some cases, the treatment of chronic and degenerative diseases. Like, say, the Jovian disease, or the Insorum that Ishukone produced.

Now, this is where things get a little hairy:

We have three out of four Empires, and one huge pirate faction implicated so far, and if we stretch the web of intrigue, we have other fascinating clues as to the ultimate ends of many, many lines of research.

Even, in the case of Insorum, back to Ishukone. Through Ishukone, we have a link to the Rogue Drones (if you've read The Empyrean Age, you'd understand exactly how).

So, we don't have a conspiracy per se, but a rather interesting confluence of events that seem to be heading to a rather interesting point.

So, what are the further implications of the other Empires and factions?

-Serpentis and booster production; gas cloud harvesters are vital to Fullerene production.

-Guristas, and by extension, Society of Conscious Thought; the previous CEO of Ishukone, Gariushi, was a pirate. This is not public knowledge. He was a Gurista, and one of the places the Gurista hang out is Geminate; the home of the Society. The Guristas give them a wide birth, why?

-The Blood Raiders knew who to contact when they stumbled upon Jamyl's superweapon. Who would have the information and drive to find out what this was, and how would the Blood Raiders know how to contact them? They're allied with the Guristas...

-Takmahl technology; Phrenic Appendix. Phrenic means mind; but also:

It all eventually ends with Sansha's Nation, but I think they're just the ones who put the "pieces" together in the first try.

They're giving the dream back. ;)

The backstory of DUST 514 is that Dust Troopers will have access to new and improved cloning technology that allows them to be cloned without the need for a pod.

What you're looking at there is probably a batch of clone bodies waiting for one of the troopers to be KIA, at which point his scanned brain will be uploaded into one of their heads.

I don't mean to be rude, but was that really so difficult to figure out?

oh, and Alana - if you're going to deposit a mental sneeze onto the boards full of links to various... stuff... would it kill you to make them clickable? or, for that matter, coherent?

But if I made it coherent, I wouldn't have such wonderful responses from you Stitcher!

Seriously though, I do understand; I was simply tired when I wrote it, and to be perfectly honest, I'm too lazy to go and correct this "mental sneeze".

Heh, I can understand that. Sorry if I was a little harsh.
