I totally agree with Dropbear, most communities don't have people like Chribba, Entity, Uncle SUAS..

The community and social interaction of EVE is what makes it stand out, single server sandbox = awesome.

Then hit the 'next' button and see who they picked for best pvp game of the decade.

Get your /facepalm ready.

It's totally deserved. Nothing out there beats roaming 8v8.

I looked at TenTonHammer's awards, and saw that:

1) No game won more than one award
2) All the games that won awards have their own segments on the TTH website (with the exception of DoAC, and rolling EQ in under the EQ2 category). They essentially passed out one award each to the games they already cover, to studios that they likely receive advertising money from. Might as well call them the Brown Nose Awards.

Hey I just got back from the grocery store, managed to pick up some tinfoil -- would you like some?

Hes right though, even the bad games they have space for such as conan, even managed to somehow win an award.

Can't argue with you there. Conan *shudder* can't stand that game one bit. Played it to the max level before the expansion and it was the snorey-ist snorefest in gaming history.

I'm surprised World Of Tanks didn't even make to runner up on the most innovative game?

But eve as best community - YEP :D

world of tanks is still beta. so cant really award game that is not yet released.

MMORPG did include it in the lis to vote for most innovative of 2010 ;) But yeah, the fact that it's beta is a reason not to place it anywhere.

Waiting for infantry introduced into the game :D So many promises about the whole thing once it goes out of beta, just can't wait.

DAoC had vikings, which mitigates the awesomeness of lasers.

But Minmatar are space vikings. That has got to count for something. The only way Minmatar could be more viking is if they raided the Amarr for slaves, and were the "more bad" guys of the two.

Well it is pretty, and if it wasn't bugged to **** it would have some pretty sweet animation. Otherwise it is fail. A shame too, I am so a fan of R.E. Howard.

You know, once, while flying in for an ops, I started pondering why exactly was EVE online a game worth playing
...until I accidentally bumped one of the thirteen titans that were hugging the JB POS, making it spin around and hit its other big friends. At first I thought I was going to get some serious troll-**** for the mistake, and surely enough growling voices were already filling TS, but were soon drowned in laughter and hi5s as people watched the behemots move in ways reminiscent of little children jokingly pushing each other on the playground.

The combination of sheer awesomeness given out by a casual flyby next to the biggest, meanest ships in the game( there were some SCs there too) and the lighthearted chatter that followed the GIANT TOY REVEAL shined on those vessels...well, I think you get the point.

EVE's community is just as big as those ships. And just like them, it can be both ugly and breathtakingly awesome.

You are mistaking cynicism for paranoia. I would add they even had a category for 'Game that we would like to show support for even though we can't say it is best at anything' with their Editor's Choice (EQ2).
