Mostly the trains in Glasgow have kept running and the worst I've had is a 15 minute wait.
On the other hand the snow has provided much entertainment watching cars fail to get up my street, panic as they try not to slide in to parked cars then reluctantly decide to go another way. My own car is parked behind a large walled flowerbed to protect it from the idiots.
Walking home from the station, enjoying the crunch of snow under my feet and feeling quite smug about not being one of those imbeciles on the road I decide to get some CD's out my car. If pride comes before a fall then smugness probably comes before the realization that you're an idiot, I'd left a glass bottle of irn-bru on the back seat that must have exploded in a semi liquid state.
The inside of my car was covered with shattered glass and lumps of frozen bru covered the back seats, looking up I realized it was all over the ceiling too. Worst was the rear passenger side foot well, the carpet had become an orange ice rink and despite my best efforts will no doubt be stained for ever more.

Who needs a truck? My Jaguar has AWD. Nothing "amuses" other roadusers more than a controlled 4-wheel drift off a roundabout. |

Sucks. This is clearly a sign that you should come to Scotland instead. |

Don't get me started, I'm in the north as well and someone decided last Saturday evening it was a good idea to bury his car's front end in the back of mine, totaling it. Now I'm stuck with trains, stupid little diesel trains that do not like the cold :( Gotta feel bad for the folk in the more urban areas tho, trains in the middle of the country have been even worse. |

When I see snow that means I'm snowed in. I live in the woods. No plows here. That also means I get the 4wheeler out and do donuts in my driveway |

I live near one of the stations on the Catford Loop line in South London: - The trains that use the line depend on an electrified third rail...
- ...which in most places is neither heated...
- ...nor covered...
- ...and when the temperature is around freezing, an electrically insulating layer of ice tends to form on it.
- The trains drift onto the ice...
- ...then get stuck because they lose contact with the rail.
- There are usually only a couple of trains per hour...
- ...allowing the ice plenty of time to re-form after each one has gone by...
- ...and enabling breakdowns out in Kent to disrupt services down the entire line.

Though more amusing is when you watch a member of your family try to navigate there 3l RWD 5 series beamer round a corner and spin at 10mph. |

Problem with ice on the powerlines isn't electricity but heat, cables are meant to operate in certain temperatures for example regular PVC insulated cable cannot be used under -5c or the insulation might crack or even peel off when the cable is bent. And the cable certainly doesn't need heating when it does that all on it's own from the current running through it problem comes from the melting ice which is conductive due to pollutants, dirt and other particles and no one might like the idea of possible getting electrified inside the tram because of that, to clear the snow someone would have to climb at the roof and power from the lines would need to be cut off. So a lot easier to just leave the train at the station for "low key" lines, it's not like there's a competition anyway... |

Yes I know, was referring to usual low voltage cases of of house wiring. |

A little delay here and there. Most buses have now chains and trains go through easily, it's only 10 inches of snow though. |
